Chapter 60 - Chapter 60 The reveal

Keifer's POV

Jay was still standing in front of me, holding the blue dress against herself, her fingers gripping the fabric like she wasn't sure if she should trust how much she liked it.

I stepped closer.

Closer than necessary.

My hand slid naturally to her waist, pulling her gently toward me.

"You're buying this," I said quietly near her ear.

She turned her head slightly, her breath brushing my jaw. "You didn't even see the others."

"I don't need to."

Her heartbeat was fast. I could feel it. She always reacted like this when I was too close.

She whispered, "Keifer…"

My thumb brushed the side of her waist unconsciously. "This is the one."

For a second, the world disappeared.

Just her.

Just us.

Then—

"AHEM."

Felix's voice shattered the moment.

I turned slowly.

Section E was watching.

All of them.

Ci-n had his arms crossed dramatically. Yuri looked deeply disappointed. David was shaking his head. Drew and Blaster were barely holding their laughter.

Calix smirked. "Bro forgot we exist."

Denzel added, "He thinks this is a movie."

Yuri sighed loudly. "Public indecency."

Jay immediately stepped back, her face flushed red.

"Stop it," she whispered.

Ci-n grinned. "We didn't do anything."

Felix leaned closer to me. "Continue. We support you."

I glared at him.

He raised his hands in surrender, laughing.

Jay hid her face briefly against my arm, embarrassed.

I placed my hand gently on her back, grounding her.

Mine.

Soon, the girls disappeared together into the fitting rooms.

Jay.

Ella.

Grace.

Rakki.

Mica.

Freya.

Minutes passed.

Then—

The fitting room doors opened.

And the world stopped.

They stepped out together.

Jay in blue.

Ella in black.

Grace in red.

Rakki in silver.

Mica in emerald green.

Freya in soft white.

My breath caught.

Not just me.

Every boy froze.

Ci-n's mouth literally fell open.

Calix blinked repeatedly. "Mica…"

Edrix whispered Freya's name like he forgot how to speak.

Denzel just stared at Grace.

Felix slowly clutched his chest. "I'm dying."

Blaster whispered, "Worth it."

Aries stared at Ella, his jaw tight, protective, proud.

But me—

I couldn't look at anyone else.

Jay.

She looked nervous.

Her fingers twisting together slightly.

She looked at me.

Waiting.

My feet moved before I thought.

I stopped in front of her.

"You're coming with me," I said quietly.

She blinked. "What?"

I took her hand.

Led her closer.

My voice dropped.

"No one else gets to see you like this."

Her breath hitched.

Her fingers tightened around mine.

Behind us, Section E started screaming dramatically.

"POSSESSIVE."

"TOXIC."

"HELP HER."

Jay laughed softly, embarrassed.

But she didn't pull away.

After paying, we walked outside.

The evening air was cooler.

Safer.

Or at least it should have been.

Aries stepped beside me.

Jay was talking with Ella nearby, laughing.

He spoke quietly.

"You saw him."

It wasn't a question.

"Yes."

He exhaled slowly. "Kaizer."

"Yes."

He clenched his jaw.

"I won't let anything happen to her."

I looked at him.

"I know."

He nodded once.

"And you?"

My voice was calm.

"I'll kill anyone who tries."

He didn't react.

Because he knew I meant it.

We got into our cars.

Jay sat beside me, her hand resting naturally on my thigh.

I covered it with mine.

The convoy moved.

One car.

Two.

Three.

Four.

We drove through the evening streets.

Then—

I saw it.

In the rearview mirror.

A black car.

Far enough.

But consistent.

Following.

Turning when we turned.

Maintaining distance.

Watching.

My grip on the steering wheel tightened.

Jay didn't notice.

She leaned her head on my shoulder softly.

Trusting me completely.

I didn't say anything.

Not yet.

But inside—

I was already preparing.

Kaizer had made his move.

And this time—

I was ready.

Third Person POV

The front door opened with a soft click—quiet enough to feel like a secret.

They stepped inside.

And stopped.

The living room was bathed in a mellow golden glow, the kind that turns ordinary moments into something almost sacred. No noise. No chaos. Just stillness… breathing.

At the center of it—

Eces.

She was asleep on the couch, back resting against the cushions, posture slightly rigid even in rest. As if her body refused to forget its duty.

In her arms lay Grazel.

The four-month-old was curled against Eces' chest, impossibly small, her breaths soft and even. One tiny hand clutched the fabric of Eces' shirt, like she had claimed her place and wasn't letting go. Her cheek rested there, warm and trusting, lips parted in quiet sleep.

Eces' arm circled her securely.

Not loose.

Not careless.

Protective—like instinct had taken over where thought had faded.

On her right, Keiren slept with his head tilted gently against her shoulder, his body angled toward them, as if even in dreams he had chosen his position as a guard.

On her left, Keigan leaned back, one arm stretched along the couch behind them, forming a silent shield without even knowing it.

And just beside them—

Percy.

Slouched, asleep, but steady.

Honey rested against him, her head on his shoulder, completely at ease. Percy's head tilted faintly toward hers, like even in sleep, he refused to drift too far.

The room wasn't empty.

It was full.

Full of quiet warmth that didn't need words.

Jay's breath softened beside Keifer.

Neither of them spoke.

Keifer's gaze stayed on Eces.

On the way she held Grazel.

Carefully.

Naturally.

Like it belonged to her.

Like protecting someone wasn't a role she learned—but something woven into her.

Jay's fingers slipped into his hand, almost without thinking.

He held on.

Firm. Grounded.

Aries moved first.

Slow steps, measured, like he was walking through something fragile. He picked up a blanket nearby and draped it gently over Keigan, then Keiren… and finally adjusted it around Eces' shoulders with careful precision.

Grazel stirred.

Every muscle in the room went still.

But the baby only shifted closer, nestling deeper into Eces, her tiny fingers tightening.

Eces didn't wake.

Her arm tightened instead.

Reflex.

Unquestioned.

Unbreakable.

Keifer exhaled quietly and stepped forward next.

Another blanket.

He placed it over Percy and Honey, careful not to disturb them.

Percy didn't move.

But Honey leaned slightly closer, like even sleep knew where comfort lived.

Jay watched everything.

Silent.

Absorbing it.

This wasn't safety built with walls or guards or locked doors.

This was something else.

Something softer.

Stronger.

People who stayed.

People who held on.

People who protected without needing to say it out loud.

Keifer's gaze moved across the room.

Eces.

Keiren.

Keigan.

Percy.

Honey.

Grazel.

Every single one of them—

His.

Not by blood.

But by choice.

And somehow, that made it stronger.

More dangerous.

More worth protecting.

Jay leaned her head against his shoulder.

He didn't look away from the room.

Didn't loosen his grip on her hand.

They stood there in silence—

Because nothing needed to be said.

Not in a room like this.

Not in a moment like this.

Because in that quiet space, under warm light, with a sleeping baby and exhausted hearts finally at rest—

They had something rare.

Something steady.

Something no threat, no shadow, no past could ever truly take from them.

They had each other.

Next morning

Third Person POV

Jay knew something was wrong the moment she saw the envelope.

It didn't belong.

Everything in their house was controlled, checked, secured. Every delivery was verified twice. Every stranger was watched. Every door was locked before sunset. Keifer had made sure of it.

So the plain, cream-colored envelope resting on her bedside table felt like a wound in reality.

Her name was written on it.

Just Jay.

No one called her that except people who loved her.

Or people who wanted to hurt her.

Her fingers trembled as she picked it up. The paper felt cold. Wrong. Like it carried something alive inside it.

She opened it slowly.

A single sheet.

Three words.

I see you.

Her breath stopped.

The room suddenly felt too small. Too quiet. Too unsafe.

Her first instinct was Keifer.

It was always Keifer.

She didn't even realize she was moving until she was already out of the room, her bare feet silent against the floor as she walked quickly down the hallway toward his study.

The door was slightly open.

He was inside, sitting at his desk, sleeves rolled up, jaw tense, eyes focused on something serious. He looked tired, but strong. Always strong.

Her husband.

Her protector.

Her home.

He sensed her before she spoke.

He always did.

His eyes lifted, softening instantly when he saw her. "Jay?"

She didn't trust her voice, so she just held out the letter.

He took it.

And everything changed.

She saw it happen.

The warmth vanished.

His jaw tightened. His shoulders stiffened. His fingers curled slightly around the paper.

He knew.

He knew exactly who it was.

"Keifer…" her voice finally broke, small and fragile. "Who…?"

He didn't answer immediately.

That scared her more than anything.

He stood slowly, walked toward her, and closed the door behind her with quiet finality.

Then he turned to her.

His hand reached up, gently cupping her face, thumb brushing her cheek.

"Kaizer," he said softly.

The name fell like poison between them.

Her heart dropped.

She already knew what Kaizer was capable of. She knew what he had done to Keifer's mother. She knew what he had done to Keifer and his brothers. The scars weren't always visible, but they lived inside him.

She had seen them.

Felt them.

Loved him through them.

But this…

This was different.

"This is why security was upgraded," he continued quietly.

Her brows furrowed. "Security was upgraded after…"

After that day.

The day Eces had gone missing for three hours.

The worst three hours of Jay's life.

Her voice came out barely above a whisper.

"…after Eces disappeared."

Keifer's silence confirmed everything.

Her stomach twisted.

"…Keifer," she whispered, fear flooding her veins. "What are you saying?"

His eyes softened with pain.

"He took her."

The words shattered something inside her.

Her breath hitched.

"What?"

His hand moved to her arms, steadying her as if he could feel her world tilting.

"Kaizer took Eces that day," he said quietly. "When you and her went outside."

Tears filled her eyes instantly.

"No… no, that's not…"

"I got her back before he could take her far," he continued, his voice calm but dark underneath. "He wanted to send a message. To remind me he could reach us."

Her hands grabbed his shirt, clutching it tightly.

"Why didn't you tell me?" she whispered, hurt mixing with fear.

His expression broke.

"Because you would've blamed yourself."

She froze.

Because he was right.

She would have.

"I couldn't let you carry that," he murmured. "It was never your fault. It was mine."

Her head shook immediately. "No. Don't say that."

"It is," he said quietly. "He wants me to suffer. And the only way to do that… is through the people I love."

His hand moved to her cheek again, thumb wiping away a tear she didn't realize had fallen.

"You," he whispered.

Her heart ached.

She hated that he believed he deserved this.

She hated that he carried everything alone.

Her fingers slid up, holding his wrist gently.

"I'm not afraid of him," she said softly.

That wasn't entirely true.

She was terrified.

But she wasn't afraid of standing beside Keifer.

Never that.

His eyes searched hers, dark and intense.

"I am," he admitted quietly.

She blinked.

Keifer wasn't afraid for himself.

He was afraid for her.

"I can survive anything," he said, voice rough. "But not losing you."

Her heart broke completely.

She stepped closer, wrapping her arms around him tightly, pressing her face into his chest. His arms closed around her instantly, strong and protective, holding her like she was something precious.

Like she was his entire world.

His chin rested on her head.

"I won't let him touch you," he whispered into her hair. "I swear it."

She felt his heartbeat.

Fast.

Furious.

Alive.

Her fingers curled into his shirt.

"I know," she whispered.

Because she did.

Keifer would burn the world before letting anyone hurt her.

He pulled back slightly, just enough to look at her.

His fingers tilted her chin up gently.

His eyes softened.

"You're safe," he murmured.

Her lips trembled.

"With you," she whispered back.

Always.

He leaned down slowly, pressing his forehead against hers.

For a moment, they just breathed together.

Then his lips found hers.

Soft at first.

Gentle.

But filled with something deeper.

Something desperate.

Something dark and protective and full of love.

She kissed him back immediately, her fingers gripping his shirt as if he was the only thing anchoring her to reality.

He deepened the kiss slightly, one hand moving to her waist, holding her closer.

Not possession.

Protection.

Promise.

When he pulled back, their foreheads rested together again.

His voice was quiet.

"I won't let him take anything from me again."

Her heart swelled painfully.

She reached up, touching his face.

"You won't," she whispered.

He kissed her again, a deliberate, slow press that deepened, demanding a response. Her lips parted, inviting him in. The kiss consumed, a silent conversation of hunger and longing. It was not gentle, not soft. It was a claiming, a reassertion.

" Keifer.... " She gasped into his mouth .
