An enemy fire? And that too in the main department. What could possibly have triggered such a thing?
"Which party is currently present at the target area?" Aefia asked the senior member.
"All bodyguards are taking the role of a pawn from the chessboard, if they fail to stop the enemy, the low-ranking members will step in." The senior member explained.
"Right. Where is the boss?"
"For the enemy or for us?"
"Both."
"For the enemy, the boss is downstairs. His bodyguards are acting as a shield for him to move his way through the gunfires. Our boss is in his office, his doors are locked by a few of our high-ranking members."
Aefia thought for a while before speaking again. "As a colleague, can you do me a favour?" She looked at the senior member with a stern expression.
The senior member looked down to Aefia's hands. He noticed the pistol with a shocked looked and replied, "Yes, what may I do for you?"
"First, I will need you to head to the armory with me. Retrieve the communication devices and gather the other high-ranking members, I will take care of weapons. After that, you will head back to the boss's office and tell him that I sent you with a plan."
"Understood. Do I wait for further instructions from you after doing so?"
"No. I will tell you what to do. Firstly, if you encounter any abnormalities in the behaviours of any members, keep them under your observation and don't let them get near the boss. Also, don't get involved in any fights unless they attack you first.
"Tell the boss to head to the meeting room. There, order a butler to bring all sorts of food items, including glasses of wines. Bring exactly ten, no less, and all of the glasses should be filled to the top until it overflows.
"On the table, set white silk as a tablecloth. Also, can you gather at least two fire extinguishers and bring it to the meeting room? Of course, everyone must be wearing gloves.
"I am sure that must be enough. And for the final instruction, make sure you and the other members including boss are acting. Act as though we are having a normal party to celebrate a successful mission.
"I will be the last one to enter the meeting so by the time I am inside, I want everything to be complete. Oh and I almost forgot, equip everyone with a gaslight."
The senior member looked astonished. "What are we doing exactly?" As soon as he said that, another shaking erupted and they both fell to their knees. If it were an earthquake, it would be at least six magnitude on the ritcher scale.
"We can't delay any further, let's head out now! And in case you know, I am a spy and I know what I am doing so don't try to alter any step. So it's either follow along or let the entire building crumble. Now withdraw your gun and run to the stairs!" Aefia took off towards the direction of the armory while saying that.
It was a last minute decision for her and the other members, which didn't leave any room to make changes. If they had to make changes, they would have to do so the moment they meet. That was impossible since all the other members were coming towards the boss's room from direction locations.
Once at the armory, Aefia ran to the shelf which contained all sorts of weapons. She knew that every one of the high-ranking members carried a pistol so she decided she would carry extra bullet with her for her own purposes.
She stored the extra bullets in her pockets and turned to look towards the sniper hanging on the wall.
Although she wasn't trained enough to handle one, she decided she could give it a try and bring it with her. But two disadvantages were her height and her speed.
The extra weight from the sniper would slow her down while her height won't allow her to use one while standing. Furthermore, the sniper wasn't of any good use. By using a sniper, she would only be ruining their plan.
The use of a sniper would alert the guards and they might all just scatter out and move in different directions. And if their directions intersect, Aefia was sure to be dead.
Without further overthinking, Aefia closed the door to the armory and ran towards the staircase. She ran all the way down to the ground floor, from where all those commotions were happening.
To her surprise, more than half the low-ranking members were unconscious on the ground and some of them dead. The floor was a bloody hell and so was the scene around her.
There were pieces of flash roasting in the fire and some of them had their eyes taken off. To add more, the guards of the rivaling company were using knives to stab out a piece from the bodies and tossed them onto a black plastic bag.
Seeing this, Aefia felt sick and looked away. She didn't dare to descend any further, in fear that she would suffer a death as gruesome as those on the floor.
There were at least twenty guards acting as the shield. There were a few scattered guards searching here and there. As a spy, her uncle had already taught her how to stay hidden in a crowd of enemies.
She rushed back upstairs and left her shoes there before running back down with her pistol in front of her. She aimed at one of the scattered guards, one which was closest to her.
While pulling the trigger, Aefia prepared to run up the stairs. Whether she liked it or not, she had to do it. This was going to mark as her first kill as a spy. The targeted guard fell to the ground, drawing the attention of the other guards.
"Boss, it seems to be a headshot. The enemy is a very skilled and a talented shooter." The guard inspecting the dead body said.
Just then, Aefia fired another bullet. She made sure to shoot at the place she was previously standing. This too grabbed the attention of the guards.
Due to this, a few of the low-ranking members of her company managed to get up and attack the guards from the back, that were still scattered. Seeing this, their boss made a declaration while pointing and some of his own guards.
"You guys follow me to the shooter's location. The rest of you can take care of the rest." With that, he started walking towards the stairs.
Bullseye! I just need to endure it for a few more minutes. The meeting room is at the third floor.
With that, she climbed to the second floor and shot at the advancing guards. This time, she shot three bullets and ran up the stairs again.
Since she needed a few minutes to wear her shoes, she stopped at the entrance of the second floor lobby. She took off towards the safety room with her gun clasped tightly.
When she reached the door, she looked back to check if anyone was present. But only the senior member appeared to be walking by the stair's entrance.
Wait! He is heading towards the enemy's location! This must mean he is coming from the kitchen and heading towards the meeting room, I need to come up with a plan to keep them away for a few minutes.
She went into the safety room and took out a sound grenade. She ran towards the elevator without being noticed. When she exited, she was at the first floor with guards right in front of her.
"So you are telling me this kid killed one of us? Is this some sort of joke? But now the kid is in huge trouble." A guard held Aefia at gunpoint. She was brought out to the centre of the lobby while they sent a member to go and inform their boss about Aefia.
"Alright, can you tell us why a kid like you is wondering around with a gun and a sound grenade? You do know this is a group of Mafias we are talking about, right?"
"Can you tell me why your boss had to blast the entire lobby just to try and get to my boss's office?" Aefia answered in a calm tone.
"So this company has a child as a member. Speak about child labour. They have also entrusted her with dangerous job like this. What is your position?"
"High-ranking spy from the main department."
"High-ranking? And how long have you been working here?"
"Four years to current date."
"Four years of trauma, am I right? Alright kid, what if we could set you free? We can let you live the free life you desire. Just tell us the location of your boss, we will go and kill him, and remove your employment history."
At that, Aefia laughed. "I never said any of that, how could you have predicted such a thing from just looking at me? To tell you the truth, the position I am currently filing out, was empty for a very long time until I joined."
Aefia dropped the pistol and brought out a small dagger from her flock's pocket. She stabbed the guard nearest to her and swang her hand from left to right to get a safe distance away from the guards.
The stabbed guard stumbled and fell, momentarily taking the attention away from her. Within the time, she grabbed her gun from the floor and ran to the cafeteria. A few guards followed behind her.
While running, she checked how many bullets she had left and if she needed to reload any sooner. Even though she had enough to escape, she reloaded the cartridge and hid below a table.
"Where is she! If we have her as hostage, we will get more information to bankrupt this company!" A guard called. In few minutes, if I can takedown all the guards around me, the others will follow.
I am not sure there is time left before I have to make a run for it. On the other hand, if I sit still killing people, I would raise awareness and I can't do that if I want to make sure safe passage to the staircase.
Using her spying skills, she moved from table to table without making a sound. Due to the lack of proper lighting, she could get more access to shadowed regions. In a short time, she had reached her exit and prepared to make a run for it.
Suddenly, a hand grabbed her collar and she was pulled up. "Found that rat!" A guard shouted to the others. Everyone stared at Aefia and smiled. "We have got our next hostage."
I think it's far more than hostage, it's death.
Aefia used her defensive skills to get way and shot him at the head. She turned towards the other guards and tried to calculate their next moves. She dodged the bullets that came to her direction, although some of it left scratches on her leg.
"What are you doing?! Run behind her!" The fallen guard got up. The guards went out the door altogether and went out to the lobby.
All of the rivaling company's guards were death on the ground. Upon closer inspection, they were all dead with shots to the head. One of the guard had a missing pistol and a lot of extra bullets left beside the dead body.
"The boss is in the first or the second floor! Go check on him! This kid is not our expectations..." The guard was silenced, it was a sniper.
One by one, everyone of them fell, leaving the entire hall dead quiet. A sound grenade fell from the top and the boss's group went downstairs. The boss and five of his most trusted guards stayed at the opening to the third floor's staircase.
"What level of fighting do you call it?" The boss asked his right-hand man. The man stayed silent for a few seconds before speaking again, "I would say, a very trained assassin. I won't also doubt that person to be a spy."
"Hmm..that's interesting." The boss thought. A bullet was fired at the boss from the front of the meeting room's doors. "Let's head out. This company's boss must be right there in that room." The boss started walking.
When they flung open the door, the scene in front shocked them. There was a full-out party happening and Aefia was sitting at her place, acting like nothing unusual had happened. She was wearing her shoes and a pair of wrist-height black gloves.
"Oh look who it is! It is our enemy! Why don't you join us on our celebration?" Aefia's uncle joyfully said.
