*During the time Steve was fighting against Hydra*
Pov: General
In a distant region of the universe, a brutal space battle was raging.
Inside the largest warship of one of the two fleets, Thanos sat on his throne, frustrated beyond measure.
Why? Because, unfortunately for him and his main fleet… they had run into Gol D. Roger, the King of Space Pirates.
Why did they run into him? They had no idea.
All they knew was that they were on course to "offer" half a planet's life to Death as usual, when suddenly Roger appeared out of nowhere and attacked them.
And no, Roger hadn't ambushed them, he never does that, even when it would give him an advantage.
No, he was literally just passing by, apparently he was heading toward some galactic empire or something, nobody knows.
Thanos simply showed up in his path first.
Roger thought about it for a moment, shrugged, and basically said "Well, why not?" then immediately launched an assault on Thanos main fleet.
Poor Mad Titan, he only wanted to complete his grand courtship of Death… and now he had to survive the cosmic randomness known as Gol D. Roger.
"Haaaaaah…"
The Mad Titan sighed deeply frustrated before turning to one of his generals.
"Have they said what they want yet?"
"Negative, my lord, they haven't said anything."
The general sounded just as frustrated. After all, even he couldn't understand what those pirates expected to gain.
They were officially recognized as the richest group in the universe.
Richer even than the Collector, which, naturally, made the Collector want to collect Roger after his death.
Because yes, even the Collector had to admit he wouldn't dare touch Roger while he was alive.
Back to the Mad Titan… he and his generals became increasingly exasperated as they watched their loyal soldiers being destroyed for no reason at all.
Then suddenly, a soldier burst into the chamber.
"Your Eminence! We have incoming communication!"
Thanos stood up instantly, extremely happy, at this point he cared little for dignity, he just wanted to finish his courtship of Death already.
"Connect me at once!"
Moments later, a hologram of Gol D. Roger appeared in the room.
"Ñahahahahahahaha! Thanos! Hand over your treasure!"
Roger sounded absurdly playful considering the devastation around him.
Thanos, by now fully accustomed to Roger's personality, didn't hesitate.
"What treasure?"
Yes, that was the answer of Thanos, the planet destroyer, the intergalactic genocidal warlord.
The same Thanos who would snap half the universe out of existence and then go make soup on a random farm.
The same Thanos who traveled through time just to say "I am inevitable," then died shortly after…
That Thanos chose to GIVE a treasure to Gol D. Roger instead of fighting him.
Roger froze for a moment, surprised by the answer. He thought for a second, then said
"No idea! Ñahahahahahaha!"
Needless to say, Thanos wished he could kill Roger right there and then, but knowing he couldn't for now, he answered very seriously
"I will give you a ship capable of sustaining half a planet's population, It was crafted by the Asgardian Dwarves.
In return, you will leave my fleet alone for one day and not interfere with my Sacred mission"
"Deal."
Roger then ended the communication and ordered his fleet to pull back slightly.
Thanos, keeping his word, delivered the absurdly massive ship.
Where did he get it?, Friend, I already told you, it's Asgardian.
And no, Thanos didn't attack Asgard or anything, he just bought it at one of the Collector's auctions, trading what would later be known as Loki's scepter.
Yes, that Collector started making auctions, the one Roger had already stolen over half his treasures from, the same Collector who wanted Roger's corpse more than anything in the universe.
In fact, the Collector might be the person most harmed by Gol D. Roger, because while others had vast intergalactic empires, he only had the Ravagers.
And even worse?, the Ravagers themselves were slowly joining Roger pirate crew
So yeah, the Collector went from being the richest man in the universe… to being Roger's favorite target.
As for Roger's story? It's the same as One Piece, but with a few major differences.
The first difference was that according to his memories, the planet he originated from is the one he reappeared on.
The second difference it's that the people of that world completely forgot the past, they forgot he'd been the Pirate King and his great creation
The third difference is that in that world, Devil Fruits never existed.
But the rest of the story remains the same, he still became Pirate King, he still created the One Piece then he was captured, executed, and sparked the Age of Piracy.
So why doesn't he question why he's alive again?
Because, according to his memories, some unknown god loved his story and revived him in the present, curious to see how far he'd go with new powers.
And yes, he's aware the rest of the another ones.
But he sees them only as compass points where treasures might be hidden, nothing more, he has no interest in seeking them out.
After all, he is in the middle of his greatest project, ¿What protect?, well...
The ultimate treasure that will send the entire galaxy on an unparalleled adventure.
Something so grand that even empires will fight for the smallest clue.
Something that even the other Great Old Ones will one day pursue.
Something that even Thanos would priorice, because there will be the infinity stones
The One Piece.
Oh, and before I forget it, nobody in the Galaxy know about the powers of Gold D Roger, and the natives of the planet of Roger never said anything about it
(Translator: One Piece still isn't finished, right? 🤔
