*During the time Steve was fighting against Hydra*
Pov: General
Within the sealed, suffocating silence of a Kamar Taj room, a lone girl sat frozen in a deep magical trance.
Her expression was an empty void, too empty, in fact, the kind of emptiness that made even the bravest sorcerer feel uncomfortable.
And yes… that vacant porcelain face belonged to Yuno Gasai.
What was she doing? Attempting to wrest absolute control of the Mirror Dimension.
And to do so, she was engaged in a "debate" with Eternity.
Yes, Eternity, one of the primordial embodiments of the universe.
And Yuno Gasai, armed with insanity, obsession, and enough red flags to decorate a parade, was arguing with him.
Let's be honest, the only real mystery was how she wasn't already erased from existence.
But to understand that, you'd need to know what she had been doing with her time here.
Let us rewind.
When Yuno first arrived, she behaved exactly as you already know, like a deranged prodigy with no sense of self-preservation.
She threw herself into refining the portal spell more than it have with the enthusiasm of someone who considers sleep optional and sanity a decorative accessory.
Eventually, she perfected the spell, an absurd feat by itself
And after raising her Sequence level, the Sorcerer Supreme noticed something terrifying, and that's the time had shifted again.
And this new timeline was even uglier than before, yes, the universe still drifted toward its destined endpoint…
but Earth got wiped out somewhere along the way.
How? The Sorcerer Supreme had no patience for the specifics.
The relevant detail was painfully simple ant that's her home was gone.
Panic does wonders to one's decision making, so she refused to accept such a pathetic death and refused even more to cling to Eternity like some desperate mortal looking for cosmic scraps.
Instead, she gambled everything on the only future in which Earth survived.
In that future, Doctor Strange was not the one she trained
No, the responsibility of carrying the mantle fell on Yuno herself, far later.
The Sorcerer Supreme's task was clear, ensure Yuno eventually became a worthy successor.
Of course… that assumed Yuno had a personality conducive to training, Which she absolutely did not.
Every attempt to mold her into something manageable imploded instantly.
So much that eventually, the Sorcerer Supreme had no choice but to push Yuno to finish her own mission before she could even begin shaping her.
And cornered and desperate, she contacted Eternity for assistance.
And that brings us back to the present, in which Yuno is in the middle of a "discussion" for dominion over the Mirror Dimension.
Though calling it a discussion is charitable because It looked more like a rabid child demanding candy from a cosmic parent, and the parent calmly repeating the eternal, universal truth:
"No."
Truly, Yuno's performance was pathetic, but honestly who would hand the keys to a universal fragment to a psychopathic, obsessive girl whose idea of emotional balance involves knives and delusion?
Only a complete idiot, and, unsurprisingly, Eternity wasn't one.
So why tolerate her?, Why waste even a fraction of his infinite existence?
Because even he couldn't ignore her "talent."
And yes, talent, even he didn't know about the secuence, he only know that somehow Yuno consistently reproduced spells she should not have been capable of understanding, especially given her lack of training.
Three attempts, that was all she ever needed.
She never asked questions, never requested guidance, nothing
She simply stared, peeling apart the structure of the spell in her mind, and moments later she wielded it flawlessly.
The Sorcerer Supreme noticed her talent as well, and finally understood why the surviving timeline required Yuno to become her replacement.
And no, Yuno doesn't rely on her Sequence powers, she doesn't need them.
The "White Tower" Pathway revolves around perception, intellect, and understanding.
Yuno simply climbed to Sequence 5 because she felt like it, everything else she did through sheer mental brutality.
Honestly, I don't know why no one recognizes Sequence users unless they activate their abilities, but fine, let them remain blind, that's not my problem.
Back to the "training".... Actually, never mind, the training is over because Eternity finally delivered his verdict, and shocking no one, the answer was NO.
It took him long enough, but cosmic entities aren't known for rushing, I suppose ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yuno, hearing the final rejection and realizing the door was shut permanently, severed the connection.
She knew the "training" would continue anyway until she became the Sorcerer Supreme, but honestly, not that she cared.
She just wanted to finish her obligations quickly and return to Yuki.
Ah, right, her origin, I almost forgot about it
Yes, she is Yuno Gasai from Mirai Nikki, but like nearly every avatar, she carries additional memories
First and most importantly, Yuki died far earlier than she wished, second she never completed the "Game.", and third, Yuki's "imaginary friend" never died, he simply stepped aside out of boredom
In a spiral of desperation and knowledge of the divine, she confronted the previous God, yeah, the one "born" from Yuki's fractured mind.
He killed her on the spot, naturally, but he still offered one last chance to see Yuki again.
Her task was simple, claim dominion over everything connected to the mystic side within that universe.
And to give her a fighting chance and no die in the middle of the way, he granted her the Pathway.
So yes, she remains the same obsessive, psychotic Yuno from the anime… just now wearing a leash made of cosmic authority.
Back to the present…
"You returned sooner than last time"
The Sorcerer Supreme observed kindly as Yuno stepped out of the sealed chamber.
"I had nothing more to discuss with him, now, if you don't mind, I'd like to return to the library."
Her tone was indifferent, her eyes barely acknowledging the sorcerer.
The Sorcerer Supreme was used to this behavior, so she simply stepped aside without complaint.
"Be cautious with your training... And remember something, as the future guardian of Earth, never place your trust in the promises of other beings."
"Don't worry, I know, after all, they only use stupid mortals."
Yuno looked at her directly in the eyes without an ounce of doubt or hesitation.
Then she walked toward the Kamar Taj library, until she reached the library, and seeing no one around said
"Especially the ones foolish enough to think they're their friends,"
she whispered under her breath, plucking a forbidden tome from the shelf.
(Translator: I swear this chapter feels too simple 😶
Writer: I know… I had no idea what to do with her plot, so I just kept it simple 😅)
