The three ladies continued eating in silence, until Clara finally spoke. "Enough of my drama, guys," she said, shaking her head as she pushed her empty glass aside. "Please tell me what's going on with you for a change. Riley, how was Milan? In my next life, I want to be a runway model."
Riley snorted, nearly choking on her mimosa. "You? A model? Honey, you'd be bored out of your mind. Those girls barely speak."
Sofia added dramatically, "Clara clearly belongs in a courtroom. She would terrify the photographers."
They all laughed, and the heaviness that had been sitting on Clara's chest finally lifted a little.
Riley took over, waving her hands as she described fabrics, lights, the chaos backstage, and the way models walked in heels as if they floated on air. Clara found herself genuinely laughing and smiling as Riley went on and on.
