Who could be knocking at my door this late? It's almost 10pm?
Ethan wondered as he stepped toward it, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Dad? What are you doing here?" he asked, surprised to see Robert standing in the dimly lit hallway.
Robert didn't waste time. His eyes swept the room behind Ethan, sharp, and searching.
Ethan's eyes follows his, wondering what he might be looking for.
"Where is your wife? Has she come back?" Robert finally asked, voice low and urgent.
Ethan swallowed hard, pushing a hand through his hair as he tried to answer as casually as possible.
"Yeah, she came home a while back, Dad."
Robert's gaze sharpened. "Is she inside?"
Ethan shook his head. "No. She's with Axiel. In his room."
Then Robert asked, a little concerned "Didn't she spend last night there with him? Is she living in his room now?"
