Maya's POV
"We need to find Patricia before she finds you," Ethan says, closing his laptop after watching her threatening video for the third time.
"How?" I ask, exhausted. "She has fifty million dollars and a head start. She could be anywhere in Russia by now."
"Russia is big, but money leaves trails." Ethan starts making calls to contacts I didn't know he had. People with thick accents who speak in code. "I know people who can track anyone. Even in Moscow."
Derek sits with my father Richard, who's recovering from being drugged and kidnapped. The paramedics checked him out and said he'd be fine, just bruised and shaken.
"Dad," I say quietly, sitting beside him. "Why did you really keep Mom's murder secret for fifteen years?"
Richard looks at me with tired, guilty eyes. "Because I was a coward. James threatened to kill you if I talked. Every day, I chose your life over justice for your mother."
"But now you're helping us expose him."
