Maya's POV
"Who is it?" I demand, grabbing Ethan's arm. "Who's been helping Vanessa?"
Ethan's phone buzzes again. He reads the message and his face goes dark. "Get your coat. Now."
We race down to his car. My heart pounds so hard I can hear it in my ears. Ethan drives fast through the city streets, checking his phone at red lights.
"My investigator followed Vanessa to a coffee shop," Ethan explains. "She's meeting someone right now. Someone who's been feeding her information about you."
"But who would" I stop. My stomach twists. "Please don't say it's Sophie."
"It's not Sophie." Ethan's grip tightens on the steering wheel. "It's worse."
We pull up outside a small coffee shop. Through the window, I see Vanessa sitting at a corner table. She's laughing, looking perfectly healthy. No weak voice. No pale face. Just a normal woman having coffee.
Then I see who she's talking to.
My blood turns to ice.
"No," I whisper. "That's impossible."
