Cherreads

Chapter 21 - Conviction

The next morning Arthur woke up, his body filled with excitement.

Turning to the side, the smell of mint and rose drifted to his nose.

For a few seconds he admired the peacefully sleeping face of Gabriella.

Arthur had to admit, she was truly beautiful. Although not as elegant and mysterious as his mother, but compared to mortals she was truly a sight to behold.

Compared to the models he had seen back on Earth, Gabriella could easily topple them over without any effort at all.

'To think a lady's natural beauty can beat that of those who cover their faces with makeup.' Arthur lamphooned internally.

Back on Earth, he never truly admired ladies who used makeup anyway.

His eyes shifted from her fair, tender pinkish nose all the way down to her lips.

They looked like cherry and were soft and tender, and Arthur couldn't help imagine how they would taste while being pressed against his own.

The thought lasted for a short while before Gabriella's eyes fluttered slightly then opened, only to notice Arthur's pair of eyes on hers.

"What?" Gabriella looked dumbfounded, and her face flushed instantly, "What were you trying to do?"

Although Arthur was also slightly flustered, he managed to smoothly lie, "I was just about waking you up. It's morning, you know?"

Saying so, he didn't wait for her reply before stretching his limbs and heading out of the tent.

Gabriella smacked her lips in annoyance, unable to find any words to counter Arthur's own.

Already awake, she could only begin making preparations for the day.

Meanwhile, the moment Arthur ran out of the location of the tent, he panted heavily, his lungs filled with perspiration.

'Damn, that was so fucking close.' Arthur thought internally, reminding himself to always control his actions while around her.

Trying to calm himself from the tension filling his heart, Arthur began running through the forest.

At first his heart was still beating wildly and images of Gabriella passed through his mind.

Should he make a move on her?

They had only known each other for barely 6 days, so would it be right to say he felt anything tangible towards her?

'Perhaps it's just my lustful hormones as a youth that are acting up.' Arthur's thought grew chaotic.

He continued running and only after a short while did his thoughts finally grow calm. By then he was already done with the running exercise of the day.

He transitioned to doing push-ups and the others.

And after more than an hour, Arthur was finally done.

[Daily Quest Completed.]

[Rewards: 1 Level Up, 1 Elemental Attribute Point, 10 Gold Coins.]

[Congratulations on leveling up, you have received a free attribute point.]

[Elemental attribute automatically assigned to Fire Element.]

[10 Gold Coins deposited into the system space!]

Arthur shifted his attention and added the stat to the Defence Attribute bringing it up to 30.

After he was done with that he watched the change in his Fire Element.

[Elemental Affinity: E-rank Fire — 0/20.]

'It has truly evolved to E-rank!' Arthur felt a profound change internally.

Previously it was as though he could faintly control fire against its will, but now he could faintly sense some familiarity with the flames.

Although it was nothing too terrifying, there was still a noticeable increase in the control of his Fire Element.

'This is really amazing!' Arthur exclaimed internally with a proud smile.

Now all his stats were at 30 and he had also evolved his Fire Element.

Arthur clenched his fist tightly, his eyes filled with confidence.

'Stronger! I am getting stronger! Mother, don't worry, soon, I'd like to see what exactly those starry skies look like…'

Arthur's resolve was stronger than ever.

And, he knew that it was finally time to go and clear the dungeon.

With that Arthur ran back to the location of Gabriella and the driver.

When he was close to the place he slowed down his pace and calmed his breathing before casually walking towards the two.

Gabriella was the first to notice him and her eyes swept over him with a strange emotion within them before she turned her gaze back to the dungeon gate.

The driver sensed the presence of someone else and only then did he finally notice Arthur.

Arthur shrugged dismissively at them then walked towards the two and picked his sword which was lying inside the carriage.

Without saying anything he walked silently towards the portal.

"I thought you said you were a Mage?" Gabriella suddenly interjected with a suspicious gaze.

"My family are a bunch of warriors, so I'm used to the sword. It's a nice blend to my Mage class." Arthur explained, perfectly blending the truth with the lie smoothly.

Gabriella nodded in understanding, "Be careful while in there."

Arthur nonchalantly nodded then continued towards the shimmering portal.

From the moment he was close to it he could sense the heat wave emanating from it.

The portal was a mass of swirling red circular void and Arthur could tell that the dungeon creatures inside likely had something to do with Fire Element.

'Nice, just the perfect place to test out my E-rank Fire Element.'

Gabriella and the driver watched as Arthur finally entered into the portal, a flash of worry briefly surfacing in the former's eyes.

Arthur felt the familiar change to his scenery and a gust of hot air swept through him as he stepped into the portal.

His perception shifted and he appeared in a flat surface, however the moment he appeared he noticed a volcano in the middle of the dungeon.

It was a small volcano, barely three times his height, and Arthur noticed a few molten liquid spilling out from it.

He glanced around and noted that the dungeon this time although spacious was still smaller than normal.

'It seems the objective is still the same as others, clearing the dungeon creatures. And all of them are likely situated in the middle of the volcano.'

Many thoughts swirled through Arthur's mind and he arrived at the most likely conclusion on the matter.

Growlllll

As though they had sensed Arthur's appearance, creatures radiating a Rank 5 pressure began crawling from the dungeon.

These creatures looked like lizards, but their scales were red with razor sharp linings around them.

Their eyes scanned the dungeon and settled on Arthur before they began rushing towards him.

'The first time I entered into an E-rank dungeon, I almost died. Ever since then I've been clearing E-rank dungeons with Titan.'

Arthur had a thought he wanted to try out.

'Perhaps… this time… I will clear an E-rank dungeon all by myself!'
