Robots shattered one after another under Ren's fists.
Every strike detonated with a violent burst of kinetic energy, steel and smoke flying in every direction. The exam field trembled beneath his boots as if he were a walking explosion.
Down below, the other examinees could barely comprehend what they were seeing.
A streak of white electricity tore through the streets, and wherever it passed, another machine was reduced to scrap.
"Are we sure… that guy's the same age as us?" someone muttered, voice trembling.
Nobody answered. They just stared at the blinding flashes that kept erupting through the city.
...
Up in the monitoring room, the pro heroes watched the scene unfold on their virtual screens.
"Who's that monster?" Ectoplasm asked, frowning as Ren singlehandedly wiped out another cluster of robots.
All Might chuckled proudly, folding his arms.
Eraser Head sighed. "He's not gonna let anyone else in that area score a single point."
"Yeah, yeah," he then added lazily, eyes half-lidded. "These rich kids really like to show off. He could've just taken the recommendation exam."
All Might's grin widened. "That's not the way of a true hero, Aizawa—"
"Shut up, All Might."
The Symbol of Peace immediately closed his mouth, awkwardly scratching his cheek.
...
Meanwhile, Ren continued to tear through bots, his movements precise and effortless. But as he fought, his eyes occasionally flicked toward the other examinees. He wasn't just fighting — he was treasure-hunting.
He wanted a new Quirk to add to his arsenal.
Then he noticed someone interesting — the guy with the ridiculous spiked haircut.
He was fusing scrap metal from destroyed robots into his body, forming a massive steel arm to fight the other machines.
Ren's eyes narrowed. "What Quirk is that…? He can fuse things with himself?"
Then, as the guy merged two parts together seamlessly, Ren's grin widened. "No… not just with himself — with anything."
He moved instantly, obliterating the robot that spiked-hair was fighting.
"Hey! I was fighting that!" the guy snapped, clearly annoyed.
"Ah, sorry." Ren raised his hands innocently, walking closer. "Thought you were having some trouble." He gave a faint, apologetic smile, patting the guy's shoulder before turning to leave.
"Huh? What the hell's with you?" the guy muttered.
Ren paused mid-step and glanced back. "Oh, and… thanks."
"Thanks? For what—" But before he could finish, Ren vanished in a crack of white lightning, leaving only a gust of wind behind.
The guy blinked. "Wait… was that… Ren Takeda?!"
...
High on the rooftops, Ren stood still, the city stretched beneath him. His heart pounded with excitement.
He could feel it — that guy's Quirk. Its concept, its structure. The potential interaction with his own.
"Let's see if I can really do this…"
He activated his Quirk. "Muscle Fiber." Then, "Joint Reactor."
And finally— "Merge together."
Pain erupted instantly — like molten metal searing through his veins. His body screamed as energy twisted and fused, muscle fibers tightening and warping under the pressure.
"It's like… they're being welded together," he hissed between gritted teeth.
Then a wild grin split his face. "Weld… yeah. That's a good name for this quirk."
The agony built — then, suddenly, it was gone.
Ren gasped sharply as a surge of power flooded every nerve, every cell. His muscles thrummed with energy, his body trembling under its new strength.
He clenched his fist. "It worked."
Now, kinetic energy wasn't just forming in his joints — it pulsed through his entire body. Every muscle, every tendon, every bone was a living reactor.
He kicked off the roof, and the shockwave cracked the concrete beneath him.
"The output's at least three times higher than before…" he said in awe.
Then, in the distance — he saw it.
The Zero-Pointer.
A colossal figure towering over the mock city, its mechanical roar echoing like thunder.
Ren smirked. "So that's the zero-point robot, huh?"
He crouched, kinetic energy building explosively under his feet.
"Well then… let's see if that giant can handle this new Quirk of mine."
He shot upward like a missile, the air distorting around him from sheer speed. As he descended, he twisted mid-air, right leg pulled high.
"Impact Dive."
BOOM!
The kick struck the robot's head like a meteor. The massive machine's skull imploded, collapsing inward before the whole structure toppled like a skyscraper under demolition.
Ren soared through smoke and debris, his body spinning uncontrollably.
A sharp pain stabbed through his leg. "I think I broke my leg," he muttered calmly as he plummeted toward the ground.
The earth rushed up to meet him — fast.
"Let's try this…" he said through clenched teeth, raising his right arm.
"Detroit Smash!"
He released all his kinetic and electric energy at once. A shockwave blasted the air beneath him, slowing his fall and throwing him back up slightly before he hit the ground in a controlled slide.
He stood there, panting, his right arm hanging limp. "Yeah… that's broken too."
He looked at his shaking hand, a small smile tugging at his lips. "That was, what… thirty percent of the old man?" He laughed softly. "Still a long way to go."
White light flared around him as Healing Light activated, mending his shattered bones.
"I'll call this new fused quirk... Surge."
To be continued...
