Chapter 74: G-1 Base
New World - G-1 Marine Base Port
"FWOOSH—!!"
With a violent distortion of space, a battered, war-torn Marine warship appeared out of thin air above the port, smashing heavily into the water!
BOOM!!
A massive wave erupted, slamming into the docks and sending the patrolling Marines into a panic.
"Enemy attack?! Man the cannons—!"
"Take aim! That ship is—"
"Wait!" a soldier suddenly shouted. "That's... that's a Marine flag!"
In the waves, the tattered "Justice" banner was still flying. But when the soldiers recognized the woman in a bloody pink uniform standing on the deck, their faces turned pale with shock.
"That's Vice Admiral Gion's (Momousagi's) warship!!"
"My god... what happened to it?!"
On the deck, a blood-soaked Gion was helping to support a young, kneeling officer whose own uniform was in tatters.
"It's Rear Admiral Roy!!"
"Quick!! Medical teams, emergency assembly!! All hands, prepare to support boarding!!"
On the ruined deck, Gion held Roy steady as he knelt, breathing heavily, her eyes filled with worry.
"Are you okay, Roy?!"
Beads of sweat ran down Roy's pale face, but his voice was calm. "I'm fine... Just... low on stamina. Fighting Kaido and then warping a full warship this far... it takes a lot out of you."
He was about to say more when—
"Gion! Roy!!"
A stern voice cut through the chaos. The G-1 Base Commander, Vice Admiral Momonga, had arrived, leaping from the dock and landing steadily on the ruined deck. When he saw the catastrophic state of the ship and the two officers, his pupils shrank.
"What happened?! What did you encounter?!"
"No time to explain!"
Roy held up a hand, his voice hoarse but firm. "The soldiers on this ship... almost all of them are critically wounded. Please... get them medical attention."
Momonga instantly understood. He roared, "All hands! Prioritize the wounded! Medical teams, move in NOW!!"
The port exploded into frantic activity as medics with stretchers and supplies swarmed the docks.
Roy, still kneeling, took a deep breath and placed his hands on the broken deck.
VMMM—!
The air vibrated. The next second, every single wounded Marine on the ship... vanished.
At the same time, on the shore, in the secured medical bay—
The soldiers reappeared, gently and precisely laid out on the triage floor, instantly transferred to safety.
"They just... appeared?! Was that... the warp?!"
"So precise! Not a single one was misplaced!!"
Momonga and his adjutant stared, having witnessed this "miracle" firsthand. They were speechless.
The adjutant looked at Roy's hand, which was still bleeding, and swallowed. "Rear Admiral Roy... after all that, he still has the strength for this...?"
Gion watched Roy's back, a complex emotion in her eyes.
This wasn't the same brat she knew who was always joking and stealing snacks. This was a man who could fight an Emperor head-on and still have the strength to bring everyone home.
G-1 Base - The Office
After receiving medical attention, Roy and Gion were brought to Momonga's office.
Momonga sat at his desk, his face grim. "Now. Tell me what happened."
Gion glanced at Roy, who nodded. She took a deep breath and gave the report: Doflamingo's coup, Kaido's intervention, the battle on the deserted island, King's attack on the ship, and Roy's direct confrontation with Kaido.
"WHAT?!"
Momonga shot to his feet, his chair crashing backward.
"You two... took on Kaido?!"
When he heard that Roy had fought Kaido to a standstill, his fists clenched in disbelief. But his disbelief quickly turned to fury.
"BAM—!!" He slammed his fist on the desk, cracking the solid wood.
"THAT'S INSANE!!!"
He roared, his eyes filled with both shock and a deep, unconcealed worry. "Do you have any idea what you were doing?! Kaido is a monster! Even if you had to fight, you should have waited for reinforcements!"
"If you had died out there, the Marines would have lost one of their brightest future stars!!"
"If we hadn't stopped him, the situation would be far worse," Roy replied calmly. "You know what Doflamingo was planning."
Momonga opened his mouth, but no sound came out. He finally collapsed back into his chair, letting out a long sigh. "You... you're reckless, Roy. Unbelievably reckless."
He stared at Roy, his expression a mix of admiration, shock, and profound unease.
"Thank god... you're both alive."
He rubbed his temples. "Rest. I'll report this to Headquarters immediately."
Marineford - Fleet Admiral's Office
CRUNCH!
Sengoku crushed the rice cracker in his hand as Momonga's voice came over the Den Den Mushi.
"REPORT! G-1 BASE, URGENT! Vice Admiral Gion and Rear Admiral Roy were intercepted by the Beast Pirates. They were attacked by Kaido and his All-Star, King!"
Sengoku's pupils shrank. "Kaido... himself?!"
"Yes!" Momonga's voice was grim. "Rear Admiral Roy engaged Kaido directly... and held his ground."
Sengoku slowly put down the file, his eyes sharp as a blade.
"Roy... he's really grown that strong..."
"BWAHAHAHAHA!!!"
Garp, who had been "visiting" for tea, exploded with laughter. "That brat actually dared to fight Kaido?! THAT'S MY STUDENT!"
Vice Admiral Tsuru was quiet, her expression thoughtful. "Sengoku... about Doflamingo. He has the blood of a Celestial Dragon. Are you sure about this?"
Sengoku's voice was firm. "I am. He controlled a king and slaughtered civilians. The evidence is absolute."
"This is a matter for the Five Elders," Tsuru said calmly. "They won't allow a Celestial Dragon bloodline to be executed by Marines. The most they'll do is lock him in Impel Down."
Sengoku was silent for a moment, then nodded grimly. "I know. I'll contact them immediately."
Tsuru walked to the window, looking out at the sea. "The balance of the New World... is shifting."
Meanwhile, at the Holy Land, Mary Geoise.
In the Chamber of Authority, the report and video from the Den Den Mushi were laid before the Five Elders.
"Hmph. Doflamingo..." one of them sneered. "He's trash who nearly dragged our name through the mud."
"A traitor," another said, disgusted. "He's an embarrassment."
"But he is of the bloodline. And he knows... secrets."
"Send him to Impel Down," the blond Elder said, his voice cold. "Level 6. He is never to be released."
"Agreed."
They turned their attention to the files on Roy.
"His warp ability has developed to the point of long-range transport... he can move entire units at will."
"And... he can go head-to-head with Kaido and survive. This is not just a Devil Fruit."
"He is extremely dangerous."
"But he is a Marine. His file shows he has upheld 'Absolute Justice' against pirates. He hasn't overstepped."
"He's just like Garp. A monster who won't follow orders."
The bald Elder spoke, his voice calm. "But for that exact reason, we cannot afford to make an enemy of him. Angering him now would be... unwise."
"Promote him. Give him a long leash. Give him the freedom to act. Keeping him on the side of the Marines is the safest option."
"Agreed."
The candles flickered, and the room fell silent again. But outside, the seas were already beginning to churn.
