Chapter 21 - Two Truths and a Lie

And we're back, bitches and gentleasses!

Game Two: Two Truths and A Lie.

The rules are simple. One person states three sentences based on their personal life, and the other has to guess which one is a lie.

This time, it's a straight three-point game. The one who guesses correctly wins a point, and the one who successfully tricks the other into guessing wrong also wins a point! The one who gains three points first wins!

Our two competitors, Liohime Kitagami and the Best Girl Shihon (not debatable) are more focused than ever as they sit together at the dining table, staring into each other's eyes.

Who will win Game two! It's time to find out!

Liohime exhaled as Shihon started first.

"Alright then, here goes: I know about how you formed a contract with me. I eat veggies. I really, really, really, love you and I dream about you every night and I wanna get married to you and have your kids and-"

"Ooookay, well we both know that the last one's the truth."

He rolled his eyes and pondered about the other two statements while the young woman leaned forward and gave an endearing stare.

"This one's a no brainer. I've personally tried to feed you vegetables and I haven't seen you eat a single one since the day I met you."

"Hehe, wroooong!"

"Like hell! Go and eat broccoli right now, and I wanna see you swallow it!"

She immediately went over to the kitchen, opened the cover of a pot that contained broccoli, picked one out and plopped it into her mouth and chewed, much to the surprise of the man who scratched his hair.

She then gulped and stuck her tongue out, showing emptiness. "Like what you see?"

"Ugh, gimme a break. So you're telling me that you'd eat it only if it would ensure that you live to see another day?"

"That's right, Master! I hate veggies, but I'd eat them only if I absolutely have to."

"You're unbelievable," he scoffed. "So, you don't even know how I got contracted with you?"

"Yep! All I know is that I hatched from your closet, I gained a mental link to your location and realized that you were out, flicked on all of the lights in the house, slept for a bit and then took a bath."

"And then I saw you in the shower," Liohime surmised, holding up his chin with his right hand.

"Yeah, yeah, anyway, that's one point for me! Your turn!"

"Okay." He tried to think about a difficult selection of truths from his personal life, and after a few seconds, he answered.

"My parents left me when I was only a child and fled abroad. I started working for the former sergeant of the Polar Town Police Department when I was only six years old. I ended my relationship with Tisha Marsey because she found out about my work."

"-hk, how am I supposed to guess that!?" howled Shihon.

"Good luck," he muttered calmly, as she stared off into space, trying to think about the statement that could be a lie.

W-Well, I haven't seen Master's parents, so the first one might be true. Working for a boss at six years old, though!? There's no way that's true! And I believe that that stupid girl would break up with my Master about his work since he told me that the job consists of people who are not necessarily good.

Still, there was a lot of uncertainty with that reasoning, but Shihon decided to shoot her shot anyway.

"It's gotta be the second one, right? There's no way that you started working for him since you were six-"

"Wrong. That's one point for me."

"EEEHHHH!?"

She slumped back, dazed by the response.

He started work at six years old!?

"W-Wait," she stammered, "what was the lie, then?"

"Well, I did end my relationship with Tisha because of my work. At that point, she became the first person who knew about the true nature of that job. So, the one about my parents was a lie. They didn't abandon me and fled when I was young, they died."

"O-Oh…."

"Got ya, didn't I?" he questioned with a grin that easily gave the feeling of, 'don't feel bad for me, let's just move on'. Shihon simply nodded and decided to go next.

"I don't know why I love you so much. I don't know why I am a Magical Beast Girl. I don't know about the details of my own contract with you."

"Ugh, this one's tough," Liohime quipped as he clicked his tongue.

Magical Beasts can't view their own contract, he reminded himself, and I believe that Shihon has no idea about why and how she was created as the first ever hybrid between Magical Beast and Human. Therefore…

"The first one, about love. Surely you know the reason why you like me?"

"Unfortunately not," she spoke while pouting, giving off an annoyed expression.

"Wait, seriously? You like me just because you feel like it?"

"N-Now that's a harsh way of putting it, Master! Don't tease me like that!"

She held him by his shoulders and shook him to and fro while he burst into laughter.

"Alright, alright, I'm sorry, Shihon. You're up by two points now. Anyway, what was the lie?"

"It was about me not knowing the contract details. Apparently, since I'm also part human, I can apparently summon a holographic screen that lists the contract just like you."

"Huh."

"Okay then Master! You gotta pray that I don't guess this one right!"

"Why am I nervous? Here goes nothing."

He took a deep breath in, and then out.

"My current name is the name that was given to me by my parents. I stole you from a renowned organization. You….are one of the few things that has genuinely made me happier in my life."

Her eyes widened, and she froze, still processing the last statement.

It was as if on instinct that she then answered without any doubt in her mind, while her heart skipped a beat.

"The lie was the first statement. Your parents died while you were very young, and I believe that you were named differently afterwards. I'm convinced that you stole me from an organization as part of your work…..and I believe….no, I'm glad that I've made you happier, Master."

Liohime smiled and sighed in resignation.

"Well, shucks. I guess you win, huh? Congrats, Shihon."

With Shihon guessing correctly, she had gotten three points, thus winning 'Two Truths and a Lie'.
