Chapter 6 - Chapter 6:Emotionally unconscious man!..

Seeing her dazed expression, Chen Zeyan cleared his throat.

"This is the deed to one of my villas in the capital, near the 'City hub mall'.

I intended to give it to you yesterday, but I was delayed with some matters... Take it. Keep it."

Liu Yiran blinked.Oh right, the deed—how could she have forgotten about it?it made her wonder that he's explaining to her why he didn't precedent yesterday.

She felt awkward.

It was the kind of gift a groom offered his bride—something she had once, that she cherished dearly in her past life, she was over moon when she was received it.

Later, the villa became a another reason for her doom. People begin whisper that even after the divorce, she still be clinging to her ex-husband, refused to let him go.

The main cause all of that was the woman

Li Xinyi.

Liu yiran clinched her fist.

Right, the divorce didn't occur three years later, after Grandma Chen had passed away, recalling the incident made her heart tremble.

Liu Yiran's expression become hardened.

"I...i appreciate the gesture, but I don't think it's appropriate for me to accept something as costly as a villa."

Liu Yiran wanted nothing from this family anymore.

Chen Zeyan paused. He furrowed his brows.

"You're Mrs. Chen now. This is my duty. Accept it."

He spoke in his usual cold but polite tone.

Liu Yiran grew frustrated. He was always like this—cold, distant, and polite.

Yet it was exactly that refined, restrained attitude that always drew her towards him, like a moth chasing the flame.

"No… I really can't accept it," Liu Yiran still persistent, refusing to back down, she couldn't bring herself to accept it.

Chen Zeyan blinked, momentarily at a loss. The villa was clearly an elegant gift for a bride;

Grandpa also had said it was fitting. Why wouldn't she accept it? Did she… dislike it?.

Chen Zeyan slowly withdraw his hand, looking at his new young wife, his voice lowerd as he felt unsure of himself.

"If this doesn't please you, then… what do you like? You can tell me." He wasn't sure of her preferences at all;he didn't know much about her too, so asking was the only thing he could do,maybe it's better to let her pick her own gift.

Liu Yiran was rendered speechless, staring at Chen Zeyan blankly.

He clearly wasn't joking or making fun of her—his serious expression made it obvious he was genuinely waiting for her to tell him what she liked so he could buy it.

Liu Yiran begin feel troubled, she cleared her throat and then patiently explained, (° ^ ° )

"It's not that i dislike the gift. I just thought… accepting a gift like this right after the marriage feels a bit too much.i already received many valuable things from here."

She could only hope he'd understand and drop the whole idea of giving her a gift—one that would later turn into a hot potato.

Seeing him silent, she then looked at him—only to find he was staring back with that same emotionless look he always wore.

Only a ghost would know what he was thinking.

The silence was become bit suffocating.

She didn't know what to say, and just as she was about to break it, Chen Zeyan finally opened his mouth.

"In our Chen family, the groom gives the bride a marriage gift on the wedding night.

My grandfather gave my grandmother the Chen Tea Shop;

my father gave my mother a two-story building near 'West lake'.

So, it's only right for you to accept this gift."

Yiran pursed her lips. Maybe this was the longest conversation they ever had.

"If you find this shabby, I can add another building for you or it's not your liking then you can choose something else you want, I can get to you." Chen Zeyan continued with expressionless face.

Liu Yiran gritted her teeth so hard she wondered if she'd need a dentist later.

Thi… this emotionally unconscious man! Who programmed him like this?!. Did he couldn't understand human language?.

After all that talking, he somehow reached the conclusion that she thought his gift wasn't enough, and ready to give more. Great.

"That's not what I meant…

She really wants to explain, but she doesn't know how.

And even if she did, it would probably just make things worse.

"I don't need anything else—the villa's perfect, really perfect. I'll keep it." She could only give up.

Even though Chen Zeyan was confused, he didn't say anything and just handed her the deed.

"'If you need anything else, you can tell me,'"

after saying that calmly stepped out of the room.

Liu Yiran sighed. 'Forget it… let's just keep the deed for now.'"

She didn't know what to think of this man who was practically didn't understand anything.

Yes he had never treated her badly; if she wanted something, he would give it, and he had never wronged her in any way.

And he had been honest throughout their marriage.

he just didn't love her, other than that he was perfect.

And still, she couldn't help but hate him, because all her downfalls and suffering had happened because of him:

Because of his coldness and indifference.

It would have been easier for her to give up if he had treated her badly."

"What do you think of this jade earrings? Would it be suitable as a gift for Xiao Ran? would she like this?" Grandma Chen's excited voice echoed through the patriarch's bedroom.

Old Master Chen raised an eyebrow as wondering what made her so happy.

"You've already gifted her a jade bracelet this morning."

That was earned a disdainful look from Grandma Chen.

"You don't understand," "That was a gift—a symbol from an elder to a younger one, a gesture of polite exchange.

This earring isn't just jewelry; it's a gesture of affection, from a grandmother to her granddaughter-in-law.

She is now a member of the Chen family, our

Ah Ze's wife, and should be welcomed with affection." She said gently.

Grandpa Chen pursed his lip . "You... ah, shouldn't overdo it. It'll surely overwhelm the girl.

It would be better to give her a gift on another occasion, like an anniversary or her birthday."

Grandma Chen again shooted a disapproving look at Old master, "It was given by me, not you, so the child won't be frightened." She said proudly.

Old master Chen sighed, realizing there was no persuading his stubborn wife to change her mind. "Fine, do as you see fit."

Old Madam Chen's eyes lit up. "So, which one do you think is more beautiful?" she asked, as she took out two pairs of earrings.

Old Master Chen studied both earrings with a critical eye. Both were Imperial Green jade, flawless and gleaming.

After a long pause, he picked the pair with a gold cap and an oval jade stone. "Ah," he murmured, "this one has just the right balance—perfect."

Old Madam Chen examined the earring selected by the Old Master.

"Hmm, I think this one is prettier—more fitting for a young girl," she murmured, delicately lifting the other earring.

Its top bore a soft pink lotus, while the bottom featured a dark green oval that hung like a glistening raindrop, capturing the eye with its gentle elegance.

The more she looked at it, the more she liked it, 'mm..it's really look good'.

Murmuring to herself, she grabbed the box, set it down just perfectly—and stood up, ready to march off to her granddaughter-in-law, without even sparing the old man a glance.

Seeing all this, Old Master Chen went completely speechless. Really… why ask him in the first place?

Liu Yiran changed out of her cheongsam into a soft pink midi dress and removed her makeup .

Her bare face looked fresh and youthful, a natural pink glow on her cheeks like a tender pink rose in bloom,

though she resembled more a middle school student than a grown woman.

Just as she admired her own reflection, a knowing sound echoed softly from the door.
