Chapter 13 - The Night The Seal Broke

A day had passed since the attack. Right now Lala and I were walking down the school hallway because Yuki called us. I thought she wanted a full explanation yesterday, but she didn't show up, so she ended up calling us today.

After walking for a bit, we reached the Student Council room. I knocked, and Yuki opened the door.

"You finally made it," she said.

"Why here? Wouldn't my house or somewhere else be safer?" I asked.

"Relax. The others are busy today, so this room is empty. It should be safe enough for us to talk."

"So, where do you want to start?" I asked.

"Hmm… Is it true that Lala-san is an alien? And if she is, why does she look so human? Is she using a disguise? And why is she on Earth?" Yuki asked excitedly.

"First, yes. Lala is an alien called a Deviluke. Devilukes look similar to humans except for their tails. Second, she ran away from an arranged marriage, met me, I saved her, and now we're engaged," I answered.

"Like a knight saving a princess!"

"Oh right, Lala is also the princess of the Galaxy King."

"WHAT! LALA IS THE DAUGHTER OF THE GALAXY KING?!"

"Yes."

"W-will Earth be attacked?!"

"No. Since I'm officially engaged to her, nothing like that will happen. Even if something did, they'd be careful."

"Alright… second question. Who attacked us two days ago?"

"That's the fourth question technically, but whatever. The attacker was an alien assassin hired by another alien who wants to replace me as Lala's fiancé."

"But aren't you already official? Why would anyone still want to kill the future son-in-law of the Galaxy King?"

"Think of it as a test. And I guess Lala's father wants to use this as a way to weed out useless nobles. one paddle, one or two islands passed."

"Isn't it hitting two birds with one stone?"

"Same thing. Anything else?"

"Umm… that…"

"Yuki wants to be Ace's girlfriend!" Lala said.

"Lala! D-don't say that out loud!"

We've only known each other a week… well, Lala and I got engaged after one hour so maybe I shouldn't judge, I thought.

"S-so? What do you think?" Yuki asked, her face red.

"Isn't it supposed to be the guy who asks the girl?" I said while gently holding Yuki's hand. "Yuki, will you be my girlfriend?"

"O-okay."

"Yay! Congrats, Yuki!" Lala hugged her.

"I kind of hoped it would be more romantic," Yuki mumbled.

"If you want, I can do it again somewhere more romantic."

"I think that's unnecessary," she said quickly.

After that confession, we talked about some random things, including my creation ability.

"So as long as you know how to make it, you can create it from thin air?!"

"Yeah, but only non-living objects. I can't create living things."

"That's incredible. You can make almost anything! Did you create that sword you used back then?"

"Yep." I created the Thousand Demon Dagger and showed its floating fragments.

"Wow, they're floating on their own!"

"I can also make it disappear." I dismissed the dagger.

"It vanished…"

Right then, the Student Council president walked in.

"Oh, Suou. And who are these two?"

"President, this is Akashi Ace and Lala Satalin Deviluke."

"Oh, Akashi and Deviluke. Why are you in the Student Council room? Do you need something?"

"No, we're here because Yuki called us," I said.

"I see. I'm Kenzaki Touya, the current Student Council president." He then looked at me. "Akashi, you have great grades and a talent for solving problems. How about joining the Student Council?"

"Me? How do you know I'm good at solving problems?"

"You're pretty well known. You helped a lot of people during your first year."

"I mean, I did help a few people… but I charged them for it."

"Still, what do you say? Want to join?"

"Sorry, but I'll pass. I'm busy."

"I see, that's a shame." He walked to his desk and sat down.

"If that's all, we'll head out first. See you, President, Yuki," I said as Lala and I walked out. When I opened the door, Masachika, Alisa-san, and Maria-san walked in.

"Oh, Ace, you're here. I was looking for you."

"Yeah, Yuki called us here. Do you need something too, Masachika?" I asked.

"No, I just joined the Student Council."

"Oh, you finally decided to join. Please go easy on me, Masachika," I teased.

A stern voice came from behind him.

"You! What did you just say? Go easy on you? Do you want to be punished?" She pointed her shinai at both of us.

"Relax, Senpai. He's just joking," Yuki said.

"A-a-anyway, Lala and I will be going now. Bye!" I said quickly, pulling Lala along.

Later that afternoon, after the dismissal bell rang, Kanzaki-senpai called me back to the Student Council room, so I asked Craftbot to pick up Lala first.

"Excuse me, President. What did you need from me?"

"I have a task for Suou. How about joining him and helping out? Suou, you don't mind, right?"

"Of course. I'd be happy to have company."

We headed to the clubroom the president mentioned.

"So, which club is having problems?" I asked.

"The Occult Research Club. The president said they don't have meaningful activities, so they're basically an unofficial club."

"The Occult Club? Hmm."

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing. Just thinking."

We reached the door and Yuki knocked. Inside were two boys and one girl playing with an ouija board. One boy had black hair with some strands sticking up. The other had pink hair. I recognized him instantly. The girl had shoulder-length black hair.

"Hello, Sasaki-san. Do you have a minute?" Yuki asked.

"Oh, Suou-san. What's up?"

"The president asked us to check if your club has proper activities to stay registered."

"Hehe. Don't worry, Senpai. Sasaki-senpai has been working on something," Yuji said.

"Hmm… Itadori Yuji, you're also part of this problem," I said.

"Huh? Me?"

"Yes. You're registered as a member of the Athletics Club, not this one. That means this club doesn't meet the minimum membership requirement."

"Itadori!" Sasaki and Iguchi stared at him.

"I wrote Occult Club on my form!"

Suddenly a teacher opened the door.

"And I'm the one who changed it."

"Coach Takagi?!" Yuji shouted.

"Itadori, we need you for the national tournament!"

Yuki looked like she was about to explode.

"Takagi-sensei, you know that's not allowed," she said.

"This is for the school, Suou… but I'm not a demon. If I lose, I'll withdraw my request. Let's settle this honestly and fairly." takagi-sensei Challenging Itadori.

'Forging a club form is 'honest and fair'?' I thought.

"But sensei—"

They were already heading toward the field. Yuki's shoulders trembled.

"WHY DO THEY NEVER LISTEN?!" she yelled.

We went back to the Student Council room to report.

"So, how was it?" Kenzaki asked.

"They're doing something, but Yuji Itadori is supposed to be in their club. Takagi-sensei changed it to Athletics," I explained.

"Isn't that not allowed?"

"Yep. Now Itadori and Takagi-sensei are in a match to settle it."

"I see. Thanks for helping, Akashi."

"No problem. I'll head out now. See you tomorrow."

As I stepped out, my phone rang.

"Yes, Ogami-sensei?"

"Where are you, Ace?"

"Still at school."

"Good. Meet me in the teacher's room."

When I arrived and knocked, she told me to enter.

"What's wrong, Ogami-sensei?"

"I sensed a strong cursed energy, but I can't pinpoint it. So we're going to find it."

'Right… I forget that Sukuna's finger is with Sasaki,' I thought.

"I'll check the Occult Club. They usually collect weird stuff," I said, heading out.

"Wait. Take this."

"What is it?"

"A communication device."

I went back to the Occult Club, but it was empty. So I circled the school.

"Where are they… System, tell me where they are."

[They are in the Occult Club room.]

"You've got to be kidding me…" I walked back.

When I opened the door, they were calmly chatting.

"Hey, you. Hand over the object you got from Itadori."

"Huh? I-I didn't get anything from him."

"That thing is dangerous. Give it to me."

"We don't have anything like that."

"…"

"Fine. If something happens, don't come crying to me." I left the room.

Well, like the saying goes… experience is the best teacher, I thought.

It was 6:30 PM. I waited for them to break the seal, but first I checked who was still in the school.

"System, how many people are in school including me and Ogami-sensei?"

[Ten people. Six in the Student Council room, two in the clubroom, one walking around, and you.]

"Student Council room? Oh no. They haven't gone home." I used 24 Tempest Steps to rush there. I knocked and opened the door.

"Why are you all still here?!"

"Why are YOU still here? We're having a meeting, but it's taking too long," Kenzaki said.

"You need to go home now because—"

Before I could finish, something crashed on the fourth floor.

"What was that?!" Alisa asked.

"No time. We need to go," I said.

"Why are you forcing us, junior?" Sarashina-senpai asked.

"Something is happen—"

A loud roar echoed through the hallway. The others ran out and saw a dog-like curse the size of a lion with a massive mouth.

I summoned the Thousand Demon Dagger and fired shards to attack the curse charging toward us.

"Ace, what is that?!" Yuki asked.

"I'll explain later. Just run."

We sprinted down the hallway. I cut down every curse I saw using the flying shards. We were on the second floor. The stairs were narrow, meaning we could get trapped from above and below. I looked at the window, opened it, and pulled out Kurayami. I inserted a Wonder Ride Book and scanned it.

"Jaaku Read! Kobuta San Kyoudai!"

(Three Little Pigs)

I aimed Kurayami outside and created a slide supported by brick pillars with wooden frames and a straw surface.

"Go! Use this!"

"Is this safe?" Masachika asked.

"Relax. I'll pay your hospital bill if it breaks." I shoved him down.

Then the others followed, and last was me.

We slid down and reached the school gate, where regular Sword of Logos members were already waiting.

"Akashi-sama, thank you for your hard work," their leader said.

"Check if anyone's hurt. I'm going back inside to see if anyone's still in danger."

"No need, Akashi-sama. Others are sweeping the building already."

"I'm still going. More help is better," I said and vanished using 24 Tempest Steps.

Inside, I spotted Itadori carrying two unconscious students and the black-haired boy with spiky hair, Megumi. Megumi pushed Itadori aside from a curse dropping from above.

I contacted Ogami-sensei and told her about Megumi. he said he'd handle him and told me to help anyone else.

I approached Itadori.

"Itadori, you need to go. We need medical help for these two."

"Senpai, please let me help—"

"No. And give me that finger."

"You… want this? What are you going to do with it?" he asked, handing me Sukuna's finger.

"Seal it, obviously." I pointed Kurayami at it and sealed it instantly.

"Let's go."

We reached the gate and handed the two injured students to the medical team. I followed Itadori inside the infirmary, where the Student Council members were resting.

"Yo. Everyone okay?"

"Thanks to you," Kenzaki said.

"Now we just wait for them to finish up," I said, sinking into a chair, Waiting for Ogami-sensei to take care of it.
