Chapter 7 - The Day Destiny Crossed Paths

The morning at Monteverra Elementary School was cool and breezy. The air was filled with the chatter of kids, the calls of mothers giving last-minute reminders, and the bustle of small stores handing out snacks and breakfast. Amid all the commotion, like every usual day, Grandma Vina was escorting her granddaughter, Amara, to school.

Though Monteverra Elementary wasn't huge, it stood near the foot of a mountain—clean, lush with plants, and offering a view that never seemed to get old.

Grandma Vina and Amara stopped at the side of the shops as Amara bought her snack for class—a simple bread and juice pack.

Grandma Vina (gently reminding):

"Sweetheart, after class, we go straight home, okay? You're not going to the mansion. You still have school tomorrow."

Amara (looking down, a little pouty but smiling):

"But Grandma… Ate Aliya said they're going to Lorenzo's place later to play. I wanted to go too…"

Grandma Vina (rolling her eyes, but smiling anyway):

"Oh my! You're always thinking about playing. Weekends only, Amara. Not every day at the mansion."

As they chatted, a sleek, expensive gray car pulled up by the shops. A boy in uniform got out, clearly from a wealthy family. He was Jacob De Guzman, the only son of Ignacio.

He ran toward the shop to buy his snack as well, but in his hurry, he didn't notice Amara stepping out from the line.

It was like slow motion—they collided. Both tumbled onto the cement floor, their heads almost touching.

Amara (holding her forehead):

"Ouch! What—?!"

Grandma Vina (rushing over, hands on her waist, visibly protective):

"Hey! Watch it, child! My granddaughter's head could get hurt with all your rushing!"

Jacob (annoyed, not caring):

"You're blocking my way!"

Amara (standing up, forcing a small smile):

"It's okay, Grandma… it doesn't really hurt."

As Amara picked up her fallen snack, she gave Jacob a glare—and he returned it with the same intensity.

Amara:

"Aren't you going to say sorry for what you did?"

Jacob (adjusting his bag quickly):

"Why should I? You were in my way anyway!"

Grandma Vina was about to scold Jacob, but Amara stopped her.

Grandma Vina:

"Don't stop me, child. This disrespectful boy needs to apologize to you!"

Amara (holding the small bump on her forehead):

"It's okay, Grandma… it doesn't hurt much."

From the gray car, Jacob's nanny shouted—a woman in a white uniform, clearly stressed out early in the morning.

Nanny:

"Jacob! Hurry! You'll be late! Come on!"

Jacob ran off immediately, hair slicked back with gel bouncing as he sprinted. He spared only a glance at Amara before getting back into the car. The vehicle sped off toward Diego Institute of Technology, where Lorenzo Alcantara also studied.

Grandma Vina (concerned but calm):

"Oh dear, you have a bump! That boy is mischievous! —let me see it."

Amara (grimacing slightly):

"It hurts a little, Grandma… it's just small."

Grandma Vina examined Amara's forehead. There was a small swelling, reddish but not large.

Grandma Vina (sighing):

"When we get home, we'll put some ice on it. But for now… you need to go to class. We're late."

Amara (nodding, holding her bag):

"Yes, Grandma. Let's go."

Meanwhile, at Diego Institute of Technology, students were bustling in. The chatter and footsteps of children felt like music in the morning air. A black van carrying the Alcantara family arrived at the school's drop-off zone—simple yet elegant.

Aliya stepped out first, hair perfectly done, bag in hand, clearly excited for class.

Aliya:

"I'll go first, Mom! Bye, littles!"

Lorenzo and Carlo:

"Bye, Sister!"

Aliya ran toward the main building while Aling Aurora held Lorenzo's hand tightly, Carlo hurrying alongside them with the crowd of students entering.

At the classroom door, Carlo entered a different room and said goodbye.

Carlo (carrying his bag):

"I'm going in here, Mom Aurora. See you later!"

Aling Aurora (smiling):

"Okay, I'll wait for you later when we go home."

She then knelt slightly to meet Lorenzo's gaze.

Aling Aurora (tenderly, with concern):

"Lorenzo… always behave, okay? Don't pick fights, be good, and listen to your teacher… And—what do I always tell you?"

Lorenzo (smiling, teasingly reassuring):

"Study well… and don't be naughty."

Aling Aurora:

"That's right! Good boy. Remember that all day."

Lorenzo grew up surrounded by Aurora's affection. Though she wasn't his real mother, her care shaped mornings full of safety and love.

Moments later, he hugged her in gratitude.

Lorenzo:

"Love you, Mom Aurora."

Aling Aurora (smiling, stroking his hair):

"Oh dear, I'm really going to cry. Go ahead, go to class before I really do."

Scene – Inside the Classroom

The classroom was noisy. Students sat chatting, waiting for their teacher. On the right sat Jacob—quiet, freshly groomed, uniform neat, clutching a small notebook. He clearly wasn't used to socializing.

Lorenzo entered, smiling. Jacob's eyes followed him. A moment of silent staring—both hesitant, unsure.

Two kids, not yet aware that their meeting was part of a chain of destiny foretold among wolves.

Their teacher arrived, smiling at the class.

Teacher:

"Good morning, kids! Before we start, we have a new classmate."

The teacher held Jacob's hand, guiding him to stand at the center.

Teacher:

"This is Jacob De Guzman. He's transferring from another school. Be kind, classmates, and make him feel welcome. Say hi, kids!"

Jacob remained silent, expression unreadable. Shy, or just distant—no one knew.

Lorenzo smiled, raising his small hand and waving warmly at Jacob.

Lorenzo:

"Hello! I'm Lorenzo!"

Jacob only looked at him, a spark of mischief in his gaze. And in that first smile from Lorenzo, a connection stirred—a small piece of a larger story of wolves, secrets, and intertwined fates that would unfold over the years.

To be continued..

Narrator's note:

From a simple collision, a glance—this was the first ripple of a long-held prophecy.

From today, nothing could stop destiny from weaving the paths of two forces meant to collide.
