"Bessie, stop playing around. I'll leave that giant snake to you," Milim said, pointing with a smile.
"Huh? Me?" Bessie hadn't expected to fight, but then he remembered the ability he'd acquired, and the bear immediately puffed up his chest.
"A mere reptile is nothing compared to me." Bessie struck a cool pose as he stood up, then promptly rolled off the pile of gold.
"Ow, ow, ow." He landed at Milim's feet. Bessie rubbed his head and got up, whimpering continuously.
Milim was very puzzled. "Bessie, aren't you a Logia-type? Why didn't you turn into your element?"
Turn into my element? Oh right, I can do that. I'd almost forgotten after being kicked around by Milim so much.
Bessie's face took on a confident, arrogant smile. "That was just me demonstrating my margin for error. The current me lacks for nothing."
"Bessie, can you stop with the trash talk? It feels really strange coming from someone who looks so cute."
Milim gave Bessie a strange look. This bear she'd picked up was anything but serious, his mouth full of nothing but trash talk. For a moment, she almost thought he was a transmigrator too.
Bessie flew up and headed in the direction of the giant snake, but after only a short while, he flew back.
"What's wrong?" Milim tilted her head in confusion, not understanding what was happening.
"Well!" Bessie rubbed his hands together awkwardly, his eyes darting around, too stiff to know how to answer.
Milim looked at Bessie suspiciously and instantly understood the meaning behind his posture.
With a look of contempt, she said, "Don't tell me you're scared! You're a Logia-type."
Bessie's body immediately grew even stiffer, and he didn't say a word.
An awkward atmosphere hung in the air. Finally, Bessie couldn't take it anymore and shouted, on the verge of a breakdown.
"That thing is over 200 meters long! It feels like a moving mountain range, how am I supposed to fight that?"
The more he spoke, the more he broke down. Can you imagine thinking you're going to bully a little snake, only to find out upon meeting it that it's basically a moving mountain range?
Milim's hand gently touched Bessie's fur. Bessie thought he was about to get another beating, but Milim's tone became increasingly gentle.
"It's okay. It's okay if you can't do it!"
"Really?" Tears welled up in Bessie's eyes. He never thought Milim could be so gentle; he had truly misjudged her before.
"Really!" Milim's tone remained gentle. If there were an Oscar, it would definitely go to Milim.
"You're already a useless bear anyway, so what's the difference if you're a little more useless? You have the power but don't dare to use it. Maybe even your big brother looked down on you, which is why he abandoned you."
Each sentence was like a sharp arrow piercing Bessie's heart.
Bessie's face darkened. He suddenly looked up with a comical smile. "Don't think I'll fight just because you say that. I've already accepted my fate as a pet, so I'm not going to try!!"
"This guy is a lost cause. Oh well, once we get back to Totto Land, I'll just throw him in with Bullet for training. That will surely correct his bad habits." Milim grimly decided Bessie's future fate.
"I have a feeling you're talking about something terrifying!" Bessie looked at Milim warily. "Don't even think about doing anything horrible to me, I'm your pet!!"
"Tch!" Milim spread her wings and flew towards the giant snake's location. After a series of earth-shaking tremors from that direction, Milim flew back again.
She was completely clean and tidy, not looking like she had just been in a battle at all.
"It's over already!" Bessie looked at Milim in a daze.
"If you're weak, train more!"
...
The purpose of this trip to Skypeia was completely fulfilled. As for the gold on Skypeia, Milim had already informed Charlotte Linlin, who would dispatch the Gundams to transport it.
Meanwhile, Milim rode the bear and held the fox, beginning the journey home.
The return trip was very smooth, taking just over half a month to get back to Totto Land. However, upon arriving at the office, why were Linlin and the others all looking at her with such strange expressions?
Seeing the two new creatures by Milim's side, everyone in the room exchanged glances, becoming even more certain that whenever Milim went out, she was bound to bring something back.
Gloriosa skillfully kicked the polar bear aside and pulled the Milim she had been thinking about day and night—so much so that she wanted to talk on the Den Den Mushi every day—back into her arms.
"Haha! Long time no see, Gloriosa. You're as enthusiastic as ever." Milim ignored Bessie's resentful little look and casually pulled a Devil Fruit from her pocket. "Gloriosa, here, this Rumble-Rumble Fruit is for you. With it, your strength will surely reach a new level."
Gloriosa trembled. Although she had anticipated this, the moment it truly happened still moved her deeply.
Her fingers gently brushed over the Devil Fruit in Milim's hand. There was no greed in her eyes, only pure gratitude.
No one else had any objections to Milim's decision.
Vegapunk just needed someone to provide enough energy as a transitional power source; it didn't matter who ate the Rumble-Rumble Fruit for her technological experiments.
As for the others, it went without saying. They held the belief of unconditionally supporting any decision Milim made.
Gloriosa put the Rumble-Rumble Fruit in her mouth. The awful taste immediately made her frown, but she swallowed it down deeply. Then, bite after bite, she ate the entire fruit until it was all gone.
Bessie's eyes widened, filled with the thought: is this woman really human?
He had eaten a Devil Fruit before; the disgusting taste was something he wouldn't forget even in ten years. Yet someone could calmly eat an entire Devil Fruit. This woman was definitely a tough one.
"Try it, try it!" Milim's eyes sparkled like stars, her curiosity impossible to hide.
Gloriosa naturally satisfied Milim's curiosity. She raised her palm, and her left hand instantly transformed into blue lightning.
The crackling sound filled the entire office.
Because she was still holding Milim, Gloriosa didn't turn her entire body into her element, but merely elementalized one hand.
Vegapunk, standing to the side, took out a testing device. After looking at the indicators displayed on it, she nodded in satisfaction.
"As expected, seeking out the Rumble-Rumble Fruit as a power source was the right choice. Now, those Gundams can finally be mass-produced."
