Cherreads

Chapter 60 - Chapter 60

Entering the shrine, a strange Devil Fruit was placed right on the table.

It was the Rumble-Rumble Fruit they were looking for.

"To think it's been sitting here for so many years and no one ate it. How lucky!"

Bexi was a bit emotional. Sometimes, the thing that can change your life is right beside you, but you always overlook it.

Perhaps one day, a Skypiean would have come to this shrine and eaten this fruit. At that point, he would have definitely become the sole king of Sky Island.

"What was that saying again? 'What's meant to be will be, and what's not, won't.'"

Seeing Bexi spouting profound truths, Milim retorted with a profound truth of her own!

"I know what you mean, but I feel like that's not how the saying originally goes. Lady Milim, did you misremember it?"

Bexi's ill-timed retort had clearly angered Milim.

Milim slammed a fist on the polar bear's head, raising a large bump on Bexi's forehead. "What's it to you!!"

"Wuwuwu!" Bexi clutched his head, his face full of grievance. "Women are all like this. They stop cherishing you once they have you."

"There are no bear rights anymore."

Looking at this drama queen bear, black lines appeared on Milim's forehead. Ever since he got familiar with her, Bexi had revealed his true nature.

Whenever she said anything to him, he would clutch his head and cry pitifully, leaving Milim at a loss.

"Let's go!" Finally, too lazy to deal with him, she turned to leave.

At this, Bexi stopped crying and immediately followed behind Milim, asking in a confused tone, "Are we just taking the Rumble-Rumble Fruit? Isn't there a huge pile of gold there too?"

"What are you thinking? With so much gold, how do you expect me to carry it all back by myself? In any case, the gold is here and it's not going anywhere. We can just come back for it later." Milim glanced at Bexi, her eyes filled with the disdain one would have for an idiot.

Just then, an interesting idea flashed through Milim's mind.

For the first time, Bexi felt like he had been insulted. He didn't know why, but he just had that feeling.

He then peeked furtively at Milim, feeling as if she was about to do something disadvantageous to him.

Then, under Milim's lead, Bexi watched in despair as Milim picked up a small fox, lovingly stroking its head.

Bexi's mouth fell open in disbelief. It seemed he had fallen out of favor. Oh, the injustice!

"Perfect! This little fox insists on coming with me." Milim hugged the struggling cloud fox, a blissful smile on her face.

The cloud fox was struggling desperately. It had been living here just fine, and then this strange human suddenly picked it up, completely disregarding its feelings.

"Wuwuwu!" Bexi bit on a small handkerchief, tears streaming down like a fountain. "That damn vixen! Using the 'play hard to get' tactic right after we met. Lady Milim is completely mesmerized. I've completely fallen out of favor."

After playing with the cloud fox in her arms until it was exhausted, Milim finally stopped and gave it a name.

"Little Eyes!!" Because the cloud fox's eyes were always squinted, making them hard to see, Milim thought the name was very fitting.

Milim praised herself internally.

Bexi patted his chest and let out a long sigh of relief. "Thank goodness I already have a name. If I were suddenly given a name like that, I'd ram my head into a wall and die."

The cloud fox in her arms had already submitted, but the moment it heard the name, it began to struggle frantically again.

It even widened its previously squinted eyes, as if trying to prove that it did not have little eyes.

Milim ignored the cloud fox!

"Oh, right!" Milim suddenly remembered something. At the location of the City of Gold, she said to Bexi, "When I was looking for the Devil Fruit, I noticed a giant snake over in the City of Gold."

"Wait a moment, Lady Milim." Bexi executed a perfectly smooth sliding kneel, prostrating himself at Milim's feet. "Lady Milim, please reconsider. Snakes are cold-blooded animals! And they're not as cute as me, nor do they have the ability to be a mattress. There's no need to adopt another one."

While belittling the snake, Bexi also praised himself. He patted his round belly with great confidence; as a mattress, he was definitely a world-class, top-quality mattress.

"Ew!!" Milim looked at Bexi with disgust. "You actually thought I wanted to adopt a snake? I hate those slimy things the most."

"As long as you don't want to adopt it." Bexi ignored Milim's disgust, just feeling relieved that his position had not been diminished.

"That snake has been eating the gold. It's better to kill it now than to let it stay." Milim possessed dragon blood, but unlike other dragons, she wasn't particularly interested in treasure.

But even so, Milim wouldn't waste so much gold so extravagantly. After all, science from her past life said that gold was a non-renewable resource and should be very useful for scientific purposes.

In short, there was no harm in saving up a little more gold.

Milim sat on Bexi's back as he lay on a cloud, moving in the direction she pointed!

He was clearly a Mink who could stand on two legs, but now he was forced to lie on a cloud because the inherently evil Milim wanted a more spacious seat.

What was even more infuriating was that even though there were clouds to sit on, Milim insisted on sitting on his back. His fur was indeed softer than the clouds.

As they flew, Bexi's mind began to wander.

However, Milim seemed to sense something. She kicked the polar bear in the head, making Bexi yelp and speed up.

Soon, the person, the bear, and the fox arrived at the legendary City of Gold. Gold was truly everywhere, even the pillars were made of it.

"Wow!!!" Bexi clenched his fists ecstatically, his eyes flashing with money signs. This bear had never seen so much money in his life. If he died here, his bear life would have been worth it.

Thinking of this, Bexi threw his image to the wind. The entire bear shot forward like a bolt of lightning, scrambling on all fours towards a pile of gold.

He leaped into the pile of gold and began to swim through it, lost in a fantasy from which he couldn't escape.

Luckily, Milim had jumped off Bexi's back beforehand, or she would have crashed as well.

She casually picked up a gold rod from the ground. With a light squeeze, the gold was instantly twisted like a pretzel. Then, Milim tossed the gold aside with a bored expression.

The hardness of this gold was even less than that of ordinary steel. It felt like it had no value as a weapon and could probably only be used for experiments and inventions.
