Lin Mo felt a bit helpless. This crisis wasn't that big; even without him, Fubuki's telekinesis should have been enough.
But whenever he focused to solve problems, his heart went berserk, hammering uncontrollably.
He couldn't help it.
"So they recognized me after all…" he sighed inwardly. "Forget it, catch the criminal first."
His current psychic power couldn't blanket an entire city like Tornado. But to comb-scan a single train—more than enough.
At first it was deduction— who could control the train PA and know every detail? Most likely the driver's cab.
The psychic feedback confirmed his guess— and made him want to laugh.
In the cramped cab, a scrawny man in a crew uniform slumped in the driver's seat, face deathly pale, screaming into a walkie-talkie in terror.
"Thump-thump-thump-thump—"
Under that apocalyptic BGM, Lin Mo slowly lifted his head.
His motion wasn't fast, but in the cab's surveillance, the scene took on a different weight.
Those deep eyes seemed to pierce the camera itself, meeting the scrawny man's eyes precisely.
As the King Engine thundered louder, Lin Mo—wrapped in that world-ending soundtrack—raised his head and looked toward the front—toward the cab.
"H-he… he's found me! He sees me!"
In the cab the scrawny man stared at the monitor showing that man under the terrifying rumble turning his gaze forward, and he felt as if plunged into ice, his blood freezing.
"Don't… don't come closer!" he screamed into the mic.
Lin Mo ignored it, striding toward the cab.
With each step the King Engine seemed to swell, the pressure sweeping the whole train like a tidal wave.
Passengers shrank aside, opening a broad passage, holding their breath, hardly daring to exhale.
"I said don't come! Do you hear me!" The criminal snapped. He slammed the console frantically.
"My heart's linked to the main bomb! If you take one more step I'll— I'll—"
He couldn't finish.
Because KING had reached the cab door.
Yet Lin Mo didn't break the door. He decided to turn the screws first.
He simply lifted his hand and knocked three times with his knuckles.
"Knock, knock, knock."
In the roar of the King Engine, the clear knocks sounded bizarrely eerie.
"AAAAAHHH!"
The three knocks shattered the man's psyche.
Through the peep window he saw KING's impassive face and fathomless eyes.
He imagined the fate awaiting him— a hundred times worse than death.
Sheer terror sent his heart into wild arrhythmia, then wrenching pain.
Clutching his chest, his expression twisted from madness to agony, then froze. His eyes rolled back; foam flecked his lips; he toppled stiffly.
He fainted dead away…
With his heart offline, the last bomb lost its threat.
In the carriage the King Engine's thunder faded with the danger.
"Finally, a little rest." Lin Mo exhaled.
Sensing no movement within, he tried the door gently.
He saw the criminal down on the floor, unconscious.
The whole train was now safe.
KING turned and looked at the gaping Fubuki and the passengers, let out a small breath, and smiled.
"Crisis resolved."
After a moment of silence, a tidal cheer erupted, nearly lifting the roof!
"Whoa— we're saved! We're really saved!"
"That fast?! As expected of Lord KING! The strongest man on earth!"
"KING! KING! KING!"
But Fubuki simply stared at KING; the last shred of pride and luck in her heart shattered completely.
Her pride, her hard-built Blizzard Group, her B-Class No. 1 ranking— under this man's absolute power— were nothing.
Lin Mo didn't care about her thoughts. He withdrew his gaze, returned to his seat, and became again the slightly aloof ordinary man.
"Lady Fubuki… we…" Eyelashes and Mountain Ape spoke nervously, legs still shaking.
Fubuki drew a deep breath, suppressing the crashing tide within.
She straightened her skirt, messy from the turmoil, and walked slowly to KING.
Her stance had none of the previous superiority; her tone was sincere:
"Lord KING… thank you for saving us all."
Lin Mo hadn't expected her to come over.
He replied reflexively with polite deflection: "Ah? Oh… it was nothing. A lift of the hand."
"A lift of the hand?"
So… this is the world of the strong?
Fubuki's awe deepened.
She quickly regained composure, took a finely embossed card from her pocket, and held it out with both hands.
"Lord KING, my contact. You saved me and my subordinates; we will never forget the debt."
"Though with your strength, you may never need power at our level— but if you ever need anything, the Blizzard Group will give everything we have!"
At that moment the train shuddered lightly and began to slow.
Outside, the bright lights of Y City came into view.
"Passengers, Y City station arriving soon…"
As the train stopped, police, medics, and Hero Association staff swarmed aboard.
"Lord KING! Are you alright?"
"Report to Lord KING! The suspect is confirmed unconscious, no life threat; en route to hospital!"
"Thank you! Lord KING! You saved everyone again!"
