Viona's POV
His words came out easily, but…
From the way his jaw clenched and the blue veins stood taut along his neck, it was clear he was struggling to hold me up.
"Rafael… you can…" I wanted to say put me down, but he jerked his arms instead, tightening his hold, and I clung even tighter.
That movement pressed my lips hard against his shoulder. Cedar. Sandalwood. Damn. It's flooding my senses with something dangerously warm.
Was it the heat from his body seeping into mine? I could see a bead of sweat rolling slowly down his temple.
But this frantic heartbeat I felt—was it mine or his?
Some of his men following behind spoke that the car was waiting at the east side door because reporters were swarming the main entrance, waiting for the brides and grooms to come out.
But that door… He needed to cover a longer distance down this corridor.
I heard him click his tongue.
Why? Did he regret it now?
"Make sure they can't approach us." He commanded.
