Some time passed, and Miu was still sitting beside me. Rina sent another message saying she was arriving, and I stood up.

"Has she arrived already?" Miu asked as she stood up too.

"She's almost here. I think it's better if I go outside and wait for her."

"Are you sure? Wouldn't it be better to stay here? The journalists will keep asking questions if you go outside."

"You're right."

I smiled and sat down again. We continued talking about random things. I asked Miu about the bullying she had been dealing with, and she said those girls hadn't bothered her anymore.

Hearing that made me feel relieved.

That means I don't need to worry about her for now. She's visibly doing better. Before, she never would've had the courage to do what she did this morning when I arrived at school. She's become a little braver.

Maybe she can even stand up to those girls now.

A few more minutes passed, and Rina finally arrived at the school. She came accompanied by several large men, all extremely tall. 'They must be security guards working for the company.'

There were four men in total, all very intimidating. The moment she saw them, Miu hid behind me in fear. Rina noticed Miu's presence and asked,

"Who's this? Your classmate?"

"Yes, she's a friend. Her name is Miu Kageyama."

"H-Hello…" Miu said quietly, clearly nervous.

"My name is Rina Tachibana. It's nice to meet you." Rina smiled at Miu and extended her hand. Miu reluctantly shook it, and after exchanging greetings, she immediately hid behind me again.

"Shall we go? It'll be a bit difficult, but trust these guys."

"Should I keep wearing the cap and mask?"

"Well, it doesn't really make a difference whether you wear them or not."

"Alright."

I removed everything I was using to hide my appearance and followed Rina outside. The men surrounded us protectively. Then I remembered Miu and looked back. She was staring at me, trying to gather the courage to say goodbye.

'Did those guys make her that nervous?'

"Rina, would it be a problem if Miu came with us?"

"Hmm? Her?" Rina looked back. Miu looked away and adjusted her glasses.

"Yes, her."

"Why?"

"I promised her we'd go to a café today." It was a lie.

"You want to go to a café right now? In this situation? What if the reporters follow us?"

"These guys can protect me at a café, right?"

"Urgh, I wasn't expecting that." Rina looked at the men, and they nodded, agreeing that it would be fine. I smiled and walked over to Miu with a grin.

"What is it? Aren't you going home?" she asked.

"Come on." I held out my hand.

"Hm?"

"Didn't we agree to go to a café? Let's go."

"Café? Huh?" Miu looked confused. "Well…"

"Just come with me. It'll be fun. Don't worry, I'll pay for everything." I smiled at her.

"The problem isn't the money… Do you really think this is okay? Won't your manager get angry? And if people see me with you? They might…"

"Would that bother you?"

"That's not it, it's just that I'm so…"

"I wouldn't mind at all if people saw us together. You're beautiful, Miu."

I smiled at her and grabbed her hand while she was still trying to process what I had just said. My words completely short-circuited her brain.

I admit I did it on purpose just to tease her.

But I wasn't lying.

Miu is really beautiful.

"W-Wait, Kyo…" Miu murmured, but I ignored her.

She started walking beside me alongside Rina while the security guards protected us. She stayed silent, staring down at the ground while clenching her fists. She was so nervous it looked like she might cry at any moment.

I smiled mischievously and lightly bumped her arm.

Miu looked at me, and I said,

"It's okay."

We began walking past the reporters and fans while many people started asking questions about Miu. Questions like, "Who is she?" or "Is she your girlfriend?"

But I didn't answer any of them.

After several exhausting minutes, we finally made it to the car.

I got into the back seat together with Miu and Rina.

Miu sat between the two of us.

Soon after, Daiki started driving away quickly so no journalists could follow us.

Thankfully, it worked.

I looked at Miu beside me, and she was muttering to herself.

"What am I even doing here? What is happening? I shouldn't be in a place like this." She was literally trembling.

So I placed my hand on her head and said,

"It's okay. You don't need to be nervous."

"You two seem close," Rina said. She smiled mischievously and added, "Don't tell me she's actually your girlfriend."

"NO!" Miu suddenly shouted. "Kyo would never date a girl like me! We're just… friends." Miu lowered her head again.

"Who said I'd never date a girl like you?" I asked, surprised by her words.

"That's…"

"You really know how to talk, Kyo. You're going to end up stealing your friend's heart." Rina laughed.

Daiki, who was driving, laughed as well.

Miu's face turned bright red.

I let out a sigh and picked up my phone. As soon as I opened Twitter, I saw a photo being posted. It was a picture of me leaving the school with Miu and Rina. The caption said:

[Could this be author Aoi Haruki's girlfriend!? He recently posted that he's in love, didn't he?]

Many similar posts started appearing.

Some people praised Miu's appearance, calling her cute.

Others criticized her for looking gloomy or "unkempt."

'I should've been a little more careful. I should've expected there would be hateful comments.'

I just hope Miu can handle it if she sees those comments.

'Thankfully, most of the comments are positive.'

"Is everything okay, Kyo?" Rina asked.

"It's nothing. I'm just surprised by how things are turning out. I wasn't expecting this."

"It's exactly like your mother told me. You really don't understand how famous you are."

"Hmmm…" I rested my hand on my chin and looked out the window again.

'I'll probably have to stop going to school for a while. On the bright side, I'll be able to focus more on my work as an author. Maybe I can even start writing something new.'
