Chapter 42 - "The call of death"

That night felt somewhat longer as the chief night guard's eyes furrowed as he stood in the imperial garden.

He then caught the arrival of a horse man--Infront of him was a nimble frame. His eyes then widened slightly as he then realized that it was one their knights--Infront of him sat a fragile woman who seemed to be in the oblivion.

"Opened the gates" he ordered one of the guards and rushed to inside without sparing anyone a glance.

Meanwhile...

The chamber of master Flaytus was left ajar--Having no one in there, the guard went outside in a hurry, his heavy boots thudding against the cobblestones as he then came to a halt.

--Tying a horse in the stable was master Flaytus--His hands clenched his sword in an impatient manner as he then walked up the stairs.

The guard followed him--Master Flaytus!

Master Flaytus!

Though, Flaytus seemed to not be bothered as he let out a sigh,

"What...?" he continued walking.

Master Flaytus, t-they have found the--"You are late" Flaytus murmured as he kept walking. So, you have got the news? the guard asked in surprise. "Well, it seems the new lad Slav has done a great job in pleasing you"... he murmured.

Flaytus's jaw clenched as the image of a fragile Eleanor clinging to a Slav played out in his mind. His jaw ticked further as he then shot the guard a piercing glare--His hazel eyes seemed to be burning.

The guard's eyes went low as he quickly shuts up. They then walked quietly without another word. Just as he reached his chamber--The guards mouth parted once again.

Master F-Flaytus, the emperor expects you...

Flaytus's eyebrows furrowed as he stormed.

Emperor Augustus expects him...his heart thudded as he then made his way to the emperor's quarter.

He made his way through the long-elongated corridor of the palace--Hands folded behind his back as he then raised his head.

Infront of the closed door was Aristos--He wore a long robe and looked as if he had just come from somewhere.

Aristos' eyes slightly widened as his made contact with Flaytus-He then dipped into a bow "It's a pleasure see you, young sire" he murmured in a steady tone.

Flaytus nodded, his mind raced as he stepped closer to the door, hands grazing the gold-plated handle as he then pushed it opened. Aristos stayed out.

Inside the throne hall--The wall was decorated by wood-torches--The flames moved almost rhythmically as the entire face seemed to be masking something darker with serenity.

His majesty, the emperor Augustus sat, his face unreadable, his both arms clutching around the armrest of his chair.

Your majesty...Flaytus's voice came out, his head lowered, "you have summoned me?"

"Get close" Augustus voice pierced the night air as he ordered for him to get closer to him--Flaytus obeyed and stepped in, his head still low.

He then got up and walked to him, his both hands folded on his back as he then finally stood Infront of Flaytus.

Flaytus didn't dare look up--His heart thudded against his ribs as a bead of sweat rolled down his forehead. Sensing the silence-Your majesty...by your silence, it seems that I have displeased you... a murmur left his lips, waiting desperately for a reply.

His majesty Augustus tilted his head, his fingers ever so slightly grazing at his gray beard as he then patted his back.

--Shocked by his sudden action, Flaytus glanced up at him--Y-Your majesty...? Augustus didn't smile, didn't reply, he just patted him.

He then turned facing to his magnificent throne--"Prepare, for there will be more bloodshed"

Flaytus's gaze fell to the floor--His hands clenched around his sword.

Prepare...

Oh, he certainly will--For this will be his chance to redeem himself and gain his favor--This will be.
