Chapter 11 - "Rejoicing"

The city of Byzantium was enjoyed by the peace deal between their Turk neighbors as the streets glimmered with music and various of acts. From within the imperial palace gates--droves of people stood, all elites, governors through top to bottom ranks. All were present as this had been the very first public encounter with the ottomans. Despite their spite.

"Ah... lastly after a long time...--The Venetian ambassador murmured as he clutched on to a goblet. His grey eyes then flickered to the back--he was surrounded by others such as him. That was when he caught the face of...

--Remus...! he waved his hand at the man. He didn't hear him--not at that instant though after several tries he did.

"A-Aurelius...?" his lips twitched into a smile. He raised his brows and walked towards him barley as he was pushed by the on goers.

"Scusa... Scusa... Scusa..." the words rolled of his tongue. He finally glanced up, parting his arms, "Aurelius!" he gazed at the man, his brother who was in front of him. The men both then embraced. They conversed about trades and which routes could make it more efficient.

Remus: "You know... Antonio was recently talking to governor Invictus... he murmured. Aurelius held back a mocking laugh, "Governor Invictus"... "Really?" Remus tilted his head, Yes... really. Aurelius stopped and became serious. He cleared his throat.

"So... he really is the...?" To that Remus gave a subtle nod. "God... the ladies weren't wrong after all"... Remus tilted his head then it clicked him. He gave him a knowing smirk. "You... sly... he gave him a shoulder pat, "devil"...

Aurelius laughed as they began to slow walk through the crowd."You call me a devil when he is really sitting at the top"... he murmured. Aurelius was disappointed. He also had served the state well though wasn't ambitious as Invictus was. Even though Invictus had done all the dirty deeds to get to the top.

Remus: I know what you are thinking...

Aurelius furrowed his brows. "What?" Remus only scoffed, "It is obvious... you are saddened by his election" Aurelius looked away. Though Remus pressed, "Do not think you your hands are clean--because we all know...

His eyes flickered up at the sky then at the people. "No one is"...

Remus: "Will you tell me more about Cecelia...?" He cooed. Aurelius shot him a "Seriously?" glare, though couldn't help but laugh with him.

--Meanwhile...

The emperor and the young sultan met and conversed. They walked near the hippodromes. Then at it's very top, they sat.

The stadium was magnificent--enormous with seats that are to facilitate at least 400,000 of on goers. That day wasn't any different. The stadium roared with unmatched energy. Catching sight of the emperor and the guest as they then chanted slogans.

Few governors were also present. Aristos and... Invictus. The man was of average height with his ash color of hair and a short temper. He was appointed as the head governor. Now standing next to him. Master Aristos watched as he strode to the emperor almost in his tip toes.

After he curtsied he raised slowly while showering him with sweet words. His eyes flickered to an annoyed Aristos. He stood there, hands folded--then looked away with a subtle cough. Aristos hated the bastard. He was always sucking up to the higher ups. I mean sure, he had done it himself but this... this was too much.

Invictus quietly stood next to him. He heaved a sigh, "Ah, Aristos, how have you been?" He murmurs. "You look sick... perhaps want to take a stroll with me?"

Aristos shook his head hard, internally*

He cleared his throat to speak though smiled when he saw...

-Young master... a whisper. It was Flaytus Augustus Filius. He walked, crossing his arms behind his back as he too held a soft smile. Augustus who was previously nodding his head slightly turned then continued.

Flaytus reached them, the governors lowered their heads to him. Him to the emperor. He got on one foot and knelt profusely. Augustus signaled him to raise.

"And that's... Flaytus, my son" The sultan tilted his head subtly in acknowledgement. Flaytus did the same. Then...

-"I had heard so much of you, Flaytus" He said. Flaytus nodded. The sultan continued, "Of course, they were all about your good qualities" "How vigilant you are during fights, educated and especially merciful to...

His voice trails off...

As in front of him was a maiden in a white robe who set a tray on the table. He quickly steered back in to the conversation. Flaytus's eyes flickered to the front. There she was... --The woman whom he saved. She looked angelic in that robe. He watched on. Then seeing that they were no orders. She dipped in a subtle bow and stepped back.

Just as she was about to cross, their eyes met-once again. Blue crashing with a pair of terrain like black. His breath halted just for a second. She looked away with a blank face. Flaytus's eyes followed her as she went. Even when she halted to look back. He only watched her.

"Pray tell, do you have any concerns on the new Venetian trade deal?" Augustus asked while clutching a goblet. The young sultan thinks thoroughly, his fingers grazing the ends of his beard as he then responded. "No, not really" "They were unhappy with the previous so this is appropriate"

He slightly leans back, "As we wish for peace to prevail in these lands" a beat, "And tyrants to be perished" Augustus hummed, amused. "Of course"...

--They bought the goblet closer

"That is the sole reason we are here for... peace... for rejoicing"
