Chapter 70 - The Meeting of Orders (Part 2)

I'm going to stop apologising for taking time writing these chapters... I will instead, justify myself... XD

Real life has been pretty nuts of late and I have been taking a break from writing to cleanse myself of my bad habits and practices (Whilst writing)... So far, that has worked wonders. Additionally there has been some crazy stuff happening in Belfast Ireland and throughout England that effects some distant relatives, and, to be honest, the entire Western world...

There, that's my justification... Now, let's get into the good stuff! Hope you enjoy the chapter!

---

A low whining hum fizzled out as the expelled air from the LAAT/i's engines whipped my hair back and forth, my blonde locks draping themselves over my face. We had just landed in the Jedi Temple.

"This, gentlemen, is the hanger bay of the Jedi Temple and houses over 1000 staff members in total." Obi Wan introduced the space as many of the staff watched our procession with intrigue and curiosity.

The Jedi Master continued. "Each staff member is payed according to Galactic standards and has a private domicile on the borders of the Jedi Temple. We like to ensure that each staff member is also given the best psychological healthcare and physical healthcare. If you wish to learn more about our healing methods please take some time to speak with Master Vokara Che, she leads our healing efforts within the temple; spiritually and physically within the medi-bay."

Sirius and Harry had ignored the entire spiel in favour of scanning the Jedi Fighters and other ships around the hanger. The two Wizards looked like kids in a candy shop as they watched two blaster cannons be equipped to the wing of an X-wing precursor. The hanger itself wasn't anything overly fancy, having a normal assortment of droids and weaponry that matched with the war-time footing of the order at large. Naturally I scanned every by habit and went back to paying attention to the impromptu tour.

"Ahem," Obi Wan coughed lightly to get the attention of my companions, not that it worked, "I believe it would be best if we take our first meeting to the council chambers..." He looked towards Yoda, who simply nodded; a grin plastered the little green guy's face.

"Hmmm, Indeed, best idea it is." With our destination settled the Jedi softly lead us out of the hanger bay, my companions barely paying attention as they gawked at the gold-leaf filigree that lined the tops and bottoms of each passageway.

Windows were fairly common as we walked, small alcoves dedicated to each single one. The alcoves themselves were just large enough for a small group of Jedi to stand and speak but small enough that it discouraged needless loitering. There were no art pieces, no statues or grandiose monuments as we walked the halls of the temple... Simply a barren hall that was coloured beige, gold and pale yellow.

"Nexus..." Shaak Ti's voice drew my attention away from my architectural observations, "If I may inquire?" I nodded simply at her questioning tone.

"Why do I barely detect your force presence?" The awkward atmosphere that had emerged as we slowly walked through the boring halls of the temple was fractured immediately as everyone in the procession started paying attention to what I would say.

"I thought it would be impolite to flaunt my power inside your domain. From what I understand, the Jedi have had horrible experiences with Sith inside their temples previously. Consider it, a courtesy..." Obi Wan had a thoughtful countenance to him as Windu and Yoda started softly conversing behind the main group. Shaak Ti, as the one who asked, bowed her head in mock gratitude.

"Then I must thank you for your thoughtfulness." I smiled towards her and bowed my head as well.

"No thanks are needed. I and my companions are not here to commit violence upon the Republic or the Jedi, there is no reason to flaunt my power and add doubt to our purpose." I said plainly.

Conversation increased and decreased in equal measure as we collectively traversed the long winding halls of the temple proper. The topics were mostly mundane or of little consequence, the more dire topics or harsher subjects kept away until we reached the council room and the Jedi Masters were convened.

As we traversed Obi Wan gave a wandering introduction to the various rooms of the temple at large. The gardens, the temple entrance, the halls of training, the barracks... Every single room we passed had history that simply oozed with the man's fascination. He spoke of Satele Shan and how she was one of the first to implement the Jedi's philosophy of saving endangered plant species from around the galaxy. The speeches of Revan to the greater Jedi Order inside the temple's foyer, when he wished to ensure that the Jedi do not become subjugated by the Dark Side of the Force... It was an amazing amalgam of history to listen to.

Unfortunately it ended and we had reached the council turbo-lifts. Now, there was only the silence of the temple. It was cold now and the colour pallet followed this tone as it switched to a mercurial blue that melded into silver detailing at the corners of the room. Where there were no art fixtures or statues present before, now there were small cases that displayed prominent historical artefacts that had long lost their power but not their meaning.

The Turbo-life itself was an advanced model, something I sensed after giving the entire room a scan; and my time on Yavin 4 with Luke. We were below the central spire of the temple and there was no one around our group. There was a lull in the force, a feeling of isolation and otherness that made me feel like sprinting back to the temple proper.

"Uneasy the weight to bear is..." Yoda spoke softly into the stifled hush.

"Comfort, one in power, should not feel. Value that we embrace, it is..."

Sirius and Harry were looking alert now, their eyes smoothly searching their surroundings for exits and escapes, a consequence of their childhoods. Both of them also had a hand free and extended beside their legs; a position that would allow them to whip their wands out should they be needed.

"Comfort is the enemy of all living beings. The truth of life is that peace is waning and temporary." I quoted from one of the Sith Holocrons we had learned from.

The saying was correct but incorrect at the same time. It was a funny thing, seeing as how good and evil operate in such a way... Being correct and incorrect at the same time... Perhaps the saying: 'Everything is a shade of grey', is far more apt? My musing was cut short as Yoda chuckled.

"Peace leads to War it does... As well, War leads to Peace... Hmmmrahaha, mysterious is the force yes?" I smirked at the Jedi Grandmaster, my own thoughts agreeing with him.

"There is no good or evil, only power and what you do with it... And that is purely based upon your morals." Harry spoke out into the lingering stillness of our small exchange, Obi Wan, Windu and Yoda all looking at him with some form of inquisitiveness.

"What do you mean by this, Revenant?" Shaak Ti decided to ask once more, her position as question giver becoming more solidified as he did so.

"When I lived with my aunt and uncle I observed many people, in my desire to acquire what I couldn't. There were people who held positions of authority but ignored everyone they wished to. Then there were those who didn't hold that same 'power' but lent a hand when asked or needed... Some would say that the people of the latter category were the good ones..." There was a small pause as he gathered his thoughts...

"They'd be wrong. The former was perhaps the most honest with their intentions and had good reasons, though selfish they may be. The latter group would help you one second but abandon you when it failed to make them feel better about themselves. They would help once and watch as you continued to struggle... Sometimes charity is not good, it is merely providing a reason for those people not to rise from the gutter themselves..."

I broke into his speech.

"The former live by the words: 'Give a man a fish and he eats for a day... Teach a man to fish and they eat for a lifetime.' If you cannot help yourself then why should they help you?"

Obi Wan and Windu looked at one another, their eyes communicating something that I couldn't quite understand. Yoda was nodding along but narrowed his eyes.

"Better is it not, to ignore the plight of fellow sentient beings... Supply them not with false hope... Hrrmmmmm... No, not correct this is..." Yoda spoke out with conviction. "Incorrect your philosophy is... Teach they still must... Give of themselves they still would."

Harry nodded.

"Yes, using Nexus's saying it would be incorrect... But that is where morals come into it... Who decides who is worth teaching? Who's to say the man that scorns all members of his own people, who are of another skin colour, is incorrect? Who's to say that he is correct? Those in power decide, those with power decide and they stake their morals into the fibre of civilisation to make their will manifest..." He paused. "If the Sith had won thousands of years ago, the Jedi would have become the villain and their teachings evil."

Shaak Ti grimaced but didn't deny the validity of the perspective... It was something that I knew the Jedi had debated previously; from discussions with Luke.

"True, that is... Reality of War and Peace, that is..."

The turbo-lift dinged softly, the large lift opening upwards to show a nearly 360 degree view of Coruscant through transparisteel. Obi Wan was the first to guide us in, his right arm extending outwards in invitation as we stepped inside. The Jedi soon followed and we all silently waited for our tiny sojourn to end.

Nothing was awkward this time however as we all contemplated the first rounds of our philosophical discussion. Personally I had already understood their perspectives and was simply sifting through the massive amount of technology swimming inside my mental archives from my scans. From the Venator-class ship down to Bacta tanks, Bacta and even varying warheads, I could now fund an entire space-war if I wished to.

Thanos sure had something to be scared of when he comes to Earth, that was for sure. Not to mention the fact that I had been given magic to further augment my bullshitery.

The trip was taking too long so I checked on the chat for the first time in a while.

Jester Lavorre- My butt itches... 😡😡 And I can't reach it!

Shiroe of Log Horizon- Get someone else to scratch it?

Tony Stark- What is this conversation...? 😢😢

M. Sam Carter- I hate when you can't reach an itchy spot

Loki Odinson- Ever since Drecarios started taking breaks from the chat the conversation has gone to the dogs...

Tony Stark- Calm it down there Malfoy-wannabe!

Loki Odinson- ??????????????????????????????????

Aegon Targaryen- The more I attempt to understand everyone, the more confused I get

Tony Stark- You'll know nothing Jon Snow, and be happy about it! Eventually...? 😂

I couldn't help but snort inside my head at Tony's bad use of a Game of Throne quote.

Drecarios Frost- That was a horrible use of the show's quote!

There was silence in the chat before it exploded.

Jester Lavorre- HE'S BACK!!!! YEAHHHH~! 🥳🥳

Tony Stark- Fuck you! I had to save an entire class because of you!

Aegon Targaryen- Welcome back

Shiroe of Log Horizon- What took you so long?

M. Sam Carter- Hey Elsa! Glad to see you back. Got any new tech for us?

Loki Odinson- Finally, some logical, sane conversation...

Sirius Black- We're talking to the Jedi and speaking philosophy and shit... It's Really boring... Got any idea when you can stop acting like you've got a stick up your arse Elsa?

Drecarios Frost- I can stop acting like that after you fix your attitude and stop acting like a child...

Harry Potter- I just want to get back home...

|WARNING! MISSION INCOMING!|

Tony Stark- O-oh fuck! FUCK FUCK FUCK! NO! I JUST ORDERED PIZZA YOU PIECE OF SHIT!

Jester Lavorre- OoOOOOooooOooo YEAH!!! FiNaLlY! 👾👾🦾🦾🥳🥳😇😇

Loki Odinson- I'm out. I have a mission on Vanaheim. Good luck mortals

Luke Skywalker- I may be able to join this one

M. Sam Carter- let me just go talk to the General, maybe I can come on this one?

Aegon Targaryen- Unfortunately I cannot join in the festivities... I have to reinforce my brother at King's Landing.

Ciri- I could probably make it, let me just go grab my swords

Gandalf The White- Perhaps, I could journey with you as well? Perhaps?
