The morning was unusually quiet. A pale light seeped through the frost-covered windows, yet it brought no warmth to the room. Jay had left early before dawn, even without saying a single word to Liv. No kiss on the forehead, no soft whisper, not even a brief farewell. Nothing.
It felt strangely familiar.
Whether it was the life she remembered before, or the life she was living now, Liv couldn't deny the dull ache inside her chest. She knew Jay cared for her sometimes too intensely but moments like these reminded her of the times she once felt invisible to the person she loved.
Ted, who had been organizing documents nearby, noticed Liv sitting motionless at her desk, simply staring ahead.
"Is there anything you would like to do, My Lady?" Ted asked gently.
Liv blinked, as if waking from a trance. "You've already taken care of everything. What else is there for me to do?"
Ted exhaled softly, unsure whether to feel amused or concerned by her answer.
