Liv said nothing as she sipped the small cup of beer. She knew there were many people who could easily become the target of Jay's anger yet he had never once directed that anger at her. A part of her wanted to see it… to see what Jay's emotions would look like if they were aimed at her just once.
Jay eventually returned with several wild chickens, which the servants immediately began to clean. He sat back down, accepting a cup of beer from Juan, who settled not far from him.
"It'll take a while before the chicken is cooked," Jay said. "Do you want a little of the deer meat first? So you won't get too hungry?"
Liv shook her head.
"How many chickens did you get?" she asked.
"Three, I think," Jay replied.
"I want all of them roasted," Liv said.
Jay looked at her, puzzled. Liv's appetite had grown ever since she became pregnant, but strangely, she didn't gain any weight, her body remained small, light, almost delicate.
"Are you sure?" Jay asked.
