Chapter 33 - Chapter 33

"Three… two… one… begin!"

With the referee's sharp command, the arena exploded into motion.

It was time for the showdown.

"Watch me avenge Death Arms and pound you into the ground!"

Mt. Lady jabbed a finger toward the five enemies ahead, her voice thundering with righteous fury.

The instant the match began, the bones in her body cracked like popping firecrackers—

and her figure shot upward in an instant.

Quirk: Gigantification!

Within seconds, a towering giantess over ten meters tall loomed above the field, so massive her head nearly brushed the overhead lights.

The shock of her transformation rolled through the stands like a wave.

Meanwhile, Kamui Woods extended his arms, and a forest of thick, flexible branches spread outward like living walls.

They reached across both sides of the ring, weaving a protective barrier around themselves, Sirius, and their rear line.

More branches continued to snake forward, forming a massive, open grid of wood — a trap ready to snap shut at any command.

Not an attack—

a precaution.

This was to counter Kuji Ayato's Spatial Rotation.

If Kuji tried to swap anyone's position, Kamui's vines could intercept and catch whoever was displaced before they hit the ground.

"Wing!"

Lock raised his hand, tracing sigils through the air as crimson runes spun to life.

The air flared, and with a flash, black-scaled wings unfurled from his back once again.

At the same time, Death Arms bellowed, his muscles bulging as he charged forward like a living tank, a wild aura of power radiating from his body.

He intended to crash straight through the enemy's formation like a wrecking ball.

Behind them, Sirius pressed her palms to her Gyarados-like earpieces, tuning in on every sound and vibration across the field.

Both sides were now moving.

At the enemy's front, Bai Ryūka let out a roar—

His hands ignited in fire, the flames racing up to engulf his entire body until he burned like a living torch.

It seemed his Quirk couldn't release flames outward; instead, he became the fire itself, his body wrapped in blazing heat.

With a shout, he charged straight for Lock, fists ablaze.

Kuji Ayato and Makoto Kiku followed close behind, throwing caution to the wind.

They clearly intended to overwhelm through sheer momentum.

In the backline, Ryota Hojo, whose Quirk remained unknown, spread his arms protectively in front of Reili Amamiya, shielding her as she crouched low.

A spark of blue light flared between Amamiya's fingers—

And the next instant, the sharp crackle of electricity filled the air.

"Reili Amamiya's discharging! Be careful!"

Sirius's sharp voice pierced the chaos as she caught the sound before anyone else.

"Death Arms, Mt. Lady!" Lock shouted, instantly reacting. "Forget the three in front! I'll handle them—head straight for the backline and stop Amamiya!"

"Understood!" ×2

They split immediately—Death Arms dashing wide around the right, Mt. Lady advancing over the left flank.

The middle lane opened completely, giving Bai Ryūka and the others a straight path forward.

But Makoto Kiku, the petite girl whose Quirk could crush others with guilt, darted ahead to intercept Death Arms.

He skidded to a halt for an instant, his face twitching at the sight of her.

He still hadn't fully shaken off the humiliation of their last encounter—broadcast nationwide for all to see.

Then he remembered Lock's words during the break.

"Guilt only works if you recognize her and engage her directly. Don't look. Don't think. Ignore her existence."

Taking a deep breath, Death Arms lifted his chin and charged again—

eyes locked upward, refusing to look at her at all.

But Makoto wasn't about to let him pass.

For someone so small, she had surprising agility.

With a spring of her legs, she leapt up—landing squarely on his massive shoulder.

And she sat down.

Yes. Sat there.

Completely unfazed by how absurdly inappropriate the posture was for a national broadcast, she latched onto him like a child clinging to her father's head.

And just like that—Death Arms froze.

His massive body went rigid. He couldn't move forward, couldn't fight back.

The overwhelming wave of artificial guilt washed over him again.

For a long, humiliating second, the two simply stayed there—locked in that ridiculous position.

"Unbelievable…" Mt. Lady muttered, both horrified and helpless. "She's ruthless."

Shaking off the sight, she took a massive step forward, her shadow covering half the ring as she stomped toward Amamiya's backline.

The arena wasn't particularly large—

And with her Gigantification, Mt. Lady alone now occupied nearly a third of the entire space.

But that also meant her reach was everywhere.

One step, and she could crush the entire opposing rear formation.

"Hojo Ryota!"

At Amamiya's command, Hojo extended both hands—palms glowing blue-white.

The air shimmered, and everything around his hands began to crystallize.

Quirk: Solidify.

Anything his palms touched—solid, liquid, or gas—could instantly become hardened matter.

Within seconds, he conjured a circular barrier of solidified air, which locked tightly around Amamiya and blocked Mt. Lady's colossal foot from crushing them.

Meanwhile, at the center of the ring, Lock and Bai Ryūka finally clashed head-on.

"Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!"

Lock's right fist erupted in roaring crimson flame, the heat distorting the air itself.

Bai Ryūka met it without flinching, his own fire surging hotter as he roared back,

"My Quirk's fire too! Let's see whose burns brighter!"

He sounded defiant—but deep down, he already knew the answer.

His Quirk—Self-Ignition—couldn't expel flame.

It merely coated him in fire, like a burning suit of armor.

After seeing Lock's Fire Dragon magic in the earlier round, he knew the gap between them was like heaven and earth.

Still, he had to buy time for his team.

Lock's grin widened. "Then let's find out."

He lunged forward, fist blazing brighter than molten iron.

Bai Ryūka swung back, their punches colliding with a thunderous crack.

For one brief second, the arena flashed red—

and then Bai Ryūka's flames flickered… and died.

He felt it instantly.

His fire, the essence of his Quirk, had submitted.

Like a subject kneeling before its king.

The Flame King.

With a single blow, the outcome was decided.

The impact hurled Bai Ryūka backwards, his body spinning through the air.

He would have crashed out of bounds—

If not for Kuji Ayato, who leapt behind him and caught him midair.

The two slammed into the ring's edge, skidding several meters before stopping.

The shockwave of their collision echoed across the hall.

And in that same instant, Mt. Lady's massive shadow loomed over them.

The first clash had ended—

And Bai Ryūka had fallen.
