"Don't even think you'll get through!"
Ryota Hojo shouted, bracing his stance as Mt. Lady's massive foot came crashing down.
His palms glowed pale blue, generating a circular barrier of hardened air that rose like crystal glass to meet the blow.
Crack!
The sound of splintering glass rang through the arena.
Fractures spiderwebbed across the barrier, spreading outward from the center.
"I can't hold it much longer!"
Hojo's teeth clenched, his arms trembling violently under the pressure.
At best, he could buy them only a few seconds before the defense shattered completely.
"We can't stall any longer, Kuji—get ready!" shouted Reili Amamiya, sparks already arcing between her fingers.
She hadn't expected their formation to crumble this quickly. Their plan was falling apart before it even began.
Her Quirk, Current, was a discharge-type.
At full release, she could unleash nearly one hundred thousand volts—strong enough to drop anyone in an instant.
But that wasn't all.
By fine-tuning her electric frequency to match a person's brainwaves, she could cause excruciating migraines and disrupt focus entirely.
A devastating Quirk, without self-damage or backlash—
But after using it at full output, she'd be unable to discharge again for three days.
Even so, they hadn't planned for this kind of chaos.
Ten Minutes Earlier
Before the battle began, Kuji Ayato had outlined their strategy in detail.
He knew his Spatial Rotation wasn't limitless—and that his usual trick of swapping positions by leaping out of the ring wouldn't be reliable here.
But he'd come up with something else.
"The biggest threat after Lock," he'd said, "is the giant herself—Mt. Lady."
His idea was simple: turn her size into her weakness.
If they could make Mt. Lady giant early, she'd become a massive liability to her own team.
Bai Ryūka would hold off Lock with his flames.
Makoto Kiku would keep Death Arms locked down with guilt.
Then, Reili Amamiya would unleash a full-power discharge.
Mt. Lady would instinctively try to intercept it to protect her teammates—
And at that moment, Hojo would use his Quirk to stall her giant form just long enough for Kuji to act.
Kuji's plan was clever, even brilliant:
His Spatial Rotation could swap not only position, but also state—momentum, stance, and balance.
If he timed it right and swapped Mt. Lady's position mid-step, her unbalanced giant body would collapse backward—onto her own team.
It would be chaos.
Kamui Woods would be forced to stop fighting and rescue her with his branches.
That would open the path for Amamiya to blast the field clean, taking down all four at once.
Then Lock, isolated and alone, would face their remaining four members—fresh and uninjured.
It was a perfect trap.
At least, it would have been…
If Bai Ryūka hadn't been blown away in one punch.
Now, ten minutes later, the plan was in shambles.
Still, it wasn't over yet.
"Got it!" Kuji shouted, staggering to his feet after taking Lock's earlier blast. His body ached all over, but his eyes burned with determination.
Kamui Woods, watching him carefully from the sidelines, stayed ready. His branches hovered—
prepared to catch anyone swapped by Kuji's Quirk at a moment's notice.
But Kuji didn't leap back this time.
Instead, he planted his feet and roared—
"Spatial Rotation!"
A flash of distortion twisted the air.
In an instant, Sirius, who had been behind Kamui, suddenly found herself surrounded—
right in the center of the enemy formation.
Her blue eyes widened in panic.
"W–What?!"
Her mind blanked completely.
Who am I? Where am I? What just happened?!
No one had even considered this scenario during their pre-fight strategy.
It made no sense. Sirius wasn't a combatant—swapping her out was meaningless.
Or so they'd thought.
"Damn it!" Kamui shouted, retracting his vines instinctively, thinking Kuji was targeting him.
But he was wrong.
Kuji spun again. "Spatial Rotation!"
This time, the space warped between Mt. Lady—still mid-kick—and Kuji's own position.
The two swapped.
For a heartbeat, Mt. Lady froze in confusion—then her balance collapsed.
Her enormous form teetered dangerously near the edge of the ring.
"Crap! Degiantify!"
Kamui reacted instantly, whipping his branches forward to grab and steady her.
But Kuji's smirk said it all.
That distraction was exactly what he needed.
"Now!" Reili Amamiya shouted, eyes blazing.
Electric arcs coiled around her arms, dancing violently as the air filled with the scent of ozone.
Her entire body sparked with golden lightning as she unleashed her Quirk.
A blinding wave of electricity ripped across the field like a tidal surge.
"Maximum Output: One Hundred Thousand Volts!"
Hojo grabbed Kuji and dove for cover in the corner, while Sirius scrambled in the opposite direction to avoid the discharge.
The lightning flood shot through the ring, threatening to engulf Mt. Lady and Kamui Woods.
Meanwhile, Makoto Kiku, still clinging to Death Arms' shoulder, let out a startled squeak as his panic finally reached its limit—
And with one wild leap, he jumped straight out of the ring, taking her with him.
A double knockout.
Both of them were eliminated instantly.
Makoto was too stunned to even react, staring wide-eyed at the ground below.
Death Arms had no idea what had just happened—
But in truth, it was the smartest move he could've made.
"Damn, that current's no joke."
Lock stood in the center of the arena, staring at the incoming storm of electricity.
Golden lightning tore across the ring, splitting the air apart with deafening cracks.
His eyes narrowed.
"But too bad for you… You picked the wrong target."
He raised both arms, his aura flaring to life.
Magic power surged through his body, pulsing like molten light.
Blue lightning coiled around his right arm—A
red flame ignited in his left.
"The Thunder Dragon's power... and the Fire Dragon's roar…" he whispered.
"If I can fuse them…!"
His mind flashed with memory—of Fairy Tail's Laxus Dreyar, of Natsu's Lightning Flame Dragon Mode.
He hadn't mastered it yet. Not even close.
But he could feel it—the way flame and lightning resonated.
Opposing forces merging into one.
Magic flared violently around him, shaking the air itself.
The ring's ropes vaporized, disintegrating into ash under the heat and current.
Then, with a fierce shout, Lock clashed his palms together and thrust them forward.
Flame and lightning combined, twisting into a blazing vortex of incandescent light.
"Dragon Fusion Magic: Fire–Thunder Convergence!"
The two torrents—Reili Amamiya's golden lightning and Lock's flaming storm—collided dead center.
The explosion of light was so blinding that the entire arena went white.
Spectators shielded their eyes. The camera's short-circuited from the surge.
For several long seconds, the world was nothing but thunder and heat.
When the light finally faded, the crowd slowly dared to open their eyes.
The air shimmered red and gold.
The arena floor had been scorched black, molten in places.
Above it all, the sky glowed crimson—like the dying afterglow of a sun consumed by flame.
It was clear, even without words, who had won that clash.
That crimson afterglow was not lightning.
It was the heat of Lock's flame magic—still burning strong.
