Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: The Vampire Massacre

After quickly finishing off one vampire, Lynn swung his blade to his left.

Knowing it was a mithril longsword, the nearby vampires darted aside with incredible speed, dodging his strikes.

At the same time, they lunged at him from every direction.

But with his Super Senses active, even against such speed, Lynn managed to evade every attack at the last possible instant.

Across the room, Natasha and Steve kept firing at the vampires.

However, their bullets were too slow—each shot easily avoided by the swift creatures.

Natasha rolled forward to dodge a vampire's claws, then casually tossed out two electrode pads.

Zzzzz—!!

A faint blue current arced through the air, and a moment later the vampire's body locked up under the surge of electricity.

Natasha seized the moment and fired.

A mithril bullet tore through the vampire's chest, and in the blink of an eye, the creature's body disintegrated into ash amid a scream of agony.

Steve, on the other side, was having a much harder time.

Although his shield managed to block the vampires' relentless strikes, they were simply too fast.

Every time Steve tried to counterattack, they used their speed to dodge and retaliate immediately.

Barely avoiding a vampire's snapping fangs, Natasha rushed over and took position back-to-back with him.

"Steve, they're too fast! Our bullets can't touch them!"

Hearing that, Steve raised his shield just in time to block a claw aimed at his chest. He fired a quick shot toward the vampire's head, but it dodged in a blur.

"I don't remember vampires ever being this fast," he muttered.

With a flick of her wrist, Natasha launched two Widow's Bites—only for the vampire to catch them in its hand, grinning as it bared its fangs at her.

Natasha pressed a button in her palm.

The next instant, the specialized Widow's Bite detonated, blasting a hole clean through the vampire's right hand.

Bang!

She immediately followed up with a shot to the head, frowning as the vampire's body collapsed into ash.

"The strength of these vampires is clearly above the ones S.H.I.E.L.D. expelled before," she said grimly.

"If the previous batch of vampires had this kind of speed, S.H.I.E.L.D. never would've wiped them out."

As Natasha spoke, her eyes flicked toward Lynn.

Surrounded by a swarm of vampires, his situation looked dangerous—but somehow, he moved with effortless precision, slipping past each deadly strike with graceful ease.

Every swing of his mithril longsword left another vampire screaming in pain as its flesh burned and smoked where the blade had cut.

"Ugh—! Lynn, plan B!"

Kicked hard by a vampire, Natasha stumbled back—only to see another lunging straight for her throat.

She raised her right hand just in time, blocking its bite with the mithril knuckles embedded in her glove.

The vampire's fangs stopped mere centimeters from her neck before it suddenly recoiled, crimson eyes flashing with fury.

Hearing Natasha's shout, Lynn sidestepped and spun through the air in a full turn, dodging another attack.

As soon as he landed, two blue potions materialized in his palm, and he smashed them hard against the floor.

Natasha and Steve, already anticipating the move, rolled out two red pills from their sleeves and swallowed them instantly.

As the blue potions shattered against the ground, thick smoke spread through the air.

The moment the vampires inhaled it, their ghostly, agile movements slowed drastically—reduced to the pace of ordinary humans.

"It actually worked!"

Natasha flipped up from the floor in one smooth motion, dual pistols in hand.

"Hey, vampire boys—looks like the tables have turned."

Bang!

Bang, bang!

Gunfire echoed through the old castle. The sluggish vampires had no chance to dodge.

Each mithril bullet tore through its target with ease, and every hit turned a vampire's body to ash.

Within moments, the dozens of vampires had been reduced to less than ten.

"What is this? Damn necromancer—what did you do to us?"

Feeling his movements slow, one vampire glared furiously at Lynn.

Lynn smiled faintly. "Since you're calling me a necromancer, it's only fair I show you what one can really do."

As his words fell, Lynn swung the mithril longsword in one smooth motion, cleanly severing the vampire's head.

The body crumbled to ash before him.

Lynn's gaze then shifted to Count Kolsais, seated at the head of the hall—his crimson eyes now locked onto Lynn.

Even as Natasha and Steve wiped out the remaining vampires, the Count, who had longed most to find the Necromancer, showed no hint of concern.

Instead, he tilted his head back and let out a piercing roar.

The dozen or so vampires still standing were suddenly engulfed in black mist. Their bodies twisted and shrank, transforming into bats that flapped their wings and darted toward the exit.

"Trying to escape? Too late."

Just as the swarm reached the doorway, Natasha pressed the detonator in her hand.

A mithril stun grenade exploded with a blinding flash.

The bats screamed as the mithril burned through their bodies and wings, reducing them to ash midair.

As the last of the vampires disintegrated, Natasha and Steve walked over to Lynn.

He was sitting calmly, expressionless, though the Count's gaze on him was anything but—filled with hunger and greed.

Steve stepped forward, gripping his shield. "Kolsais—when you preyed on so many innocent girls, you couldn't have imagined a day like this, could you?"

Natasha frowned, puzzled. "I remember the last time S.H.I.E.L.D. fought vampires—the loss of a few of them devastated their leader. Now dozens of your underlings—your 'offspring'—have been wiped out, and you don't seem angry at all. That's not like a true vampire leader!"

Count Kolsais set his goblet down and rose slowly. "Ms. Romanoff, you don't understand."

"Compared to these offspring returning to their ancestors' embrace, what I value far more is the necromancer standing before me."

"If I obtain this necromancer, what does it matter if every vampire in the world is destroyed?"

Natasha's eyes narrowed. "You truly are a descendant of Dracula. But I'm curious—what do you vampires want with a necromancer? To help you rule the world?"

"That's the sort of thinking of you foolish food," Count Kolsais sneered, disdain clear in his voice. "With his help, we can turn the whole world into a vampire kingdom."
