The quiet did not last. A sharp knock echoed against the door, loud enough to break through my thoughts. It was not hesitant, nor polite. It sounded more like an announcement than a request. Before I could respond, the door opened, and an elf stepped inside.
She carried a folded set of clothes over her arm along with what looked like basic washing items—cloth, a small vial, and something wrapped neatly in linen. She did not step far into the room, only enough to place the items down on the bed.
"This is for you," she said simply.
Her tone was neutral, not rude, not particularly kind either. Just… doing her job. She turned almost immediately, clearly intending to leave without another word.
"Wait."
The word left me before I could think too much about it. She paused, not fully turning, but enough to show she had heard me. I stood, brushing my hands lightly against my dress as I faced her properly.
"Who sent you?"
