Silva sat on a high branch of a mango tree as he monitored the ground beneath his with his domain. He had lost count of the number of Gu that passed below him, heading for the safe zone's barrier. Some of them would notice him but Frisbee took care of those before they could alert the rest. The corpses would be instantly stored away in his inventory.
'The moon looks so beautiful tonight. I never really paid attention to it before but now that all this has happened, I've come to appreciate things that I previously took for granted. Like this biscuit I'm holding. It's honestly an amazing product. I never cared before but now that I'm looking at it, I really appreciate the effort that went into making it.' Silva detected strong fluctuations coming from the direction of the safe zone. 'It must be starting.'
Screams of terror tore apart the silence that night usually brought. The sound of gunshots filled the sky as a desperate battle for survival broke out within the safe zone. Silva had wanted to ignore the battle but his curiosity got the better of him and he went to observe it. He climbed a tree that was close to the open grassland that surrounded the safe zone and watched everything. His night form allowed him to see even more clearly than during the day and the light from the moon made it even easier for him. Silva silently watched as the soldiers sacrificed the people infront of them.
'They won't survive at this rate. I guess I'll have a safe place to stay tomorrow.' As Silva was planning about how he would make effective use of the soon to be empty safe zone, a laser shot from the sky and obliterated a few of the attacking Gu. Everyone, including the Gu, looked up at the source of the attack and saw it. In the sky was the silhoutte of a large bird, its enourmous wings flapping gracefully as it circled the safe zone. Multiple lasers shot down from the bird and eliminated multiple Gu. Smoking craters were left behind by the lasers.
The bird dove down and landed on top of the tower before rapidly transforming into a muscular man with a sharp jawline. Silva was suprised to see Falcon here. He had expected the birdman to fly as far away from the city as possible.
"Gather around the tower with your backs against it to avoid being hit from behind. Those with abilities, use them. We only need to hold for an hour and the safe zone barrier will activate again." Falcon screamed out from the top of the tower as he continuously fired lasers at the approaching Gu. The soldiers were quick to follow the instructions, their training shining through in the desperate situation.
As interested as Silva was in seeing Falcon again, he was even more curious about someone else. This person was standing alone in the open surrounded by a pile of rapidly increasing Gu corpses. He would slice the air with his hand and any Gu that were in the direction of the attack would be cut in half. Silva also noticed that any injuries the man got would heal rapidly which allowed him to keep fighting. 'I should join in too. This is a good opportunity to get stronger.'
With that thought, Frisbee joined the battle. The donut blade made quick work of the unsuspecting Gu. As for the one controlling the blade of massacre, he was sitting on a branch staring at the moon as though none of what was happening concerned him. Falcon was getting exhausted. He had been flying for quite some time to get here only to see the place being attacked. He immediately joined in to help and now he felt like passing out. He scanned the surroundings to find his next target when he finally saw it. There was a brief flash of reflected moonlight as a Gu met its end.
Falcon decided to pay more attention to the phenomenon and he soon found out the cause of death of multiple Gu. There was a donut like blade flying around the outskirts of the safe zone, killing most of the Gu that were charging at the tower. He didn't know who was controlling the blade but he was happy to receive the extra help.
Falcon was so caught up in the battle that he didn't notice that the Gu were no longer approaching. He shot down a few more Gu before realizing that the barrier had turned back on. Falcon collapsed from exhaustion, staring at the moon that shone beautifully, a complete contrast to the ground filled with death.
Falcon woke up and noticed that it was very bright. The sun was high and should have been beating down on him mercilessly but the barrier made the heat bearable. Falcon could hear loud voices from the people beneath him. He peeked over the edge and his eyes widened with shock. He leaped off the tower and transformed into his bird form, gliding to the edge of the barrier.
Falcon turned into a human the instant he touched down and ran toward Silva who was standing outside the barrier. He tried to embrace Silva but he was stopped and had to settle for an awkward handshake. "How are you still alive? I have so many questions. Did you kill that crazy bird? How did you leave the lake?"
"Slow down Falcon, I'm okay. I killed the bird but I barely made it out of the lake. I had to hide in the city till I healed before I left. Anyway, how have you been? And why are you still here? I thought you would have flown away to safety." Silva replied.
"I've been better to be honest. Flying around isn't as great as you think. I keep getting attacked by both monsters and people. Plus, I'm only here because the other safe zone I found was surrounded by giant bats." Falcon said as he grabbed his left hand while flinching. "So, do you wanna team up again? I promise to follow your orders if you agree. "
"I can't team up, I plan on moving alone for the foreseeable future. Plus, those guys behind you seem to think of you as the leader." Silva gestured at the soldiers surrounding the tower with a few aiming their guns at him. Falcon frowned when he noticed the soldier's behavior.
"Why are you pointing your guns at him? He hasn't done anything and he isn't even armed." Falcon shouted at the front most soldier who happened to be the one who kicked Silva out.
"This kid is banned from the safe zone because he refused to follow orders. Anyone who doesn't follow orders is a security risk." Falcon didn't know what to say to the soldier. His reply made sense and he wasn't in a position to interfere.
"Hey soldier guy. Let's make a deal." Silva called out to the soldier who responded by aiming his gun at him. "I'll tell you how to make sure the barrier stays active continuously but I need access to the tower for thirty minutes. If you don't want to make the deal then I'll just kill everyone and use it anyway."
"You little shit. I let you walk away last time and you think you can threaten me." The soldier said angrily as he prepared to open fire. Falcon tried to push Silva away but Silva side stepped and avoided him.
The gun opened fire and the soldier smiled crazily as he turned the arrogant kid into Swiss cheese. Or that's what he thought. Silva's domain had expanded greatly after last night's massacre. It could almost rival the safe zone in size. Since his domain was directly tied to his inventory, he could now fit a small house in there.
Silva stared at the soldier who was wasting his bullets trying to shoot him. Even before Silva started taunting him, he had opened a tiny entry to his inventory right inside the barrels of every gun in the vicinity. Every bullet fired ended up being stored in his inventory directly.
Silva sighed and summoned Frisbee. The donut shaped blade hovered above his open palm reflecting the sun dangerously. Falcon's eyes widened when he saw the familiar blade. There was also another who had seen the blade before. The man with the slicing ability had been standing behind the soldiers during the argument. He remembered seeing that blade easily cut through Gu that his ability found difficult to kill.
He rapidly distanced himself from the soldiers, got on his knees and raised his hands in surrender. The blade flew at the soldiers too fast for them to dodge. Heads rolled and blood sprayed across the ground. It took less than a minute for Frisbee to eliminate them all. By the end of Silva's attack, only the kneeling guy was alive in the safe zone.
Silva walked toward the tower, ignoring both the kneeling man and Falcon. 'Finally, I get a chance to properly prepare.'
