Chapter 26 - Chapter 25: I Alone am the Honoured One

Holy Land — Pangaea Castle. Conference Room.

With Stussy resting obediently in his arms, Jaeger stepped into the grand chamber.

The atmosphere inside was heavy, suffocating even, as the Five Elders sat in silence at their designated seats, their wrinkled faces unreadable.

These old fossils still love playing their little power games, Jaeger smiled inwardly.

Even in the original timeline, Jaygarcia Saturn walked around whenever he pleased — meaning the Gorosei weren't bound by any rules or ceremonial chains. Their authority was absolute.

But Jaeger's eyes soon drifted past them… landing on someone else in the room.

Someone truly repulsive.

Donquixote Mjosgard.

A Celestial Dragon, yes — but also a disgrace to the title.

He used to be a tyrant, then magically turned "good" thanks to Princess Otohime, later helping Shirahoshi during the Reverie.

In the end, the God Knights executed him for being a traitor.

A waste of a bloodline.

But… maybe still marginally useful.

"Jaeger?"

Mjosgard scowled when he saw him. His grotesque face twisted with misplaced arrogance.

"I arrived first. If you want an audience with the Gorosei, you'll wait your turn!"

Then he immediately turned away and raised his voice toward the Elders like an entitled man-child.

"I want my Heavenly Tribute increased by 30%! In return, I demand more Fish-Man slaves! You know how exotic they—"

BANG!

Before the words were out of his mouth, a giant hand clamped around his head and smashed him into the floor.

Nerona Jaeger.

The pristine marble shattered, spiderweb cracks branching out as blood splattered across the tiles.

Mjosgard howled.

For a Celestial Dragon, his body was unusually tough. Even with his face crushed and soaked in blood, he still screamed like a hog being butchered.

"So damn noisy."

Under the stunned gazes of Stussy and the Five Elders, Jaeger frowned and slammed his hand down again.

BANG. BANG. BANG.

The repeated impact echoed through the hall like thunder.

—CRACK!

Pieces of skull snapped.

Mjosgard's eyes rolled back. His face turned into an unrecognizable lump of red and meat. There was nothing noble left.

"L-Lord Jaeger!?"

Stussy trembled, her long legs barely supporting her weight. Her widened eyes were filled with pure fear.

She already knew Jaeger was arrogant — untouchably so — and backed by a monstrous lineage.

But this?

Beating a fellow Celestial Dragon half to death in front of the Five Elders!?

Was he out of his mind!?

"Your Highness Jaeger."

Jaygarcia Saturn finally spoke, leaning slightly on his cane. His cloudy eyes narrowed with an emotion somewhere between irritation and caution.

"What exactly do you mean by this?"

Jaeger smiled gently, "You think he deserves to stand in line before me?"

He waved dismissively.

"Vermin like that needs discipline. Better he learns now before he causes trouble later. I'm sure he'll be grateful for my… kindness when he wakes up."

Saturn: "..."

The Elders exchanged glances. Behind their aged eyes flickered restrained frustration — but none of them reprimanded him.

They were powerful. Revered. But at the end of the day…

They were Imu's servants.

And Jaeger?

Jaeger was Imu's heir.

Until Imu's stance on Jaeger was made clear, none of them dared risk an unnecessary conflict.

Finally, Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro — fingers wrapped casually around the First Generation Kitetsu — broke the silence.

"I heard you mobilized a force equivalent to a Buster Call… to search for the Pirate King's pregnant wife?"

"That's right."

Jaeger's tone softened into an almost gentle smile.

"Before Roger died, he entrusted his wife and unborn child to me. So of course, I had the Navy retrieve them safely… so I can love and protect them."

Nusjuro's eyes twitched slightly.

This brat had no shame.

He executed Roger… then claimed his wife as a concubine, calling himself a good man?

Unbelievable.

But he wasn't in the mood to argue.

Forget it. The God Knights can't touch him anyway. Let him do whatever he wants.

Roger's woman would've met a tragic fate regardless. Falling into this monster's hands… well, that's another kind of tragedy.

Portgas D. Rouge… that was her name, wasn't it?

A brief flash of sympathy crossed his old eyes.

The Elders glanced at one another again. Then Saturn spoke, far more serious this time.

"Since your intentions are clear, very well. If the Navy retrieves Roger's wife, she will be delivered to you."

"But…"

His eyes narrowed.

"You killed Roger and sabotaged his public execution. How should we settle that matter?"

Jaeger rolled his eyes.

"Didn't I explain it already?"

"Gecko Moria and the user of the Clone Clone Fruit are hiding in Wano," Nusjuro sighed. "It's dangerous. The World Government needs your strength."

Jaeger raised a brow.

"My strength? You mean…"

"We read the report."

Saturn's lips formed a thin smile.

"During the Impel Down chaos, a giant bone dragon appeared. A creature large enough to blot out the sun."

Jaeger chuckled.

So they connected the dots after all.

Even if they didn't know the details of his Hand of Hermes or Noble Phantasms, they still understood one thing:

The bone dragon was his.

And that scared them.

As it should.

Power is pointless if it isn't flaunted.

What good is being divine if you hide your brilliance?

"If you take Wano," Saturn continued, "we can assist in its administration."

"And?" Jaeger asked coolly.

"We will purchase all of their seastone and weapons for three times the market price."

Jaeger blinked.

That… was actually a good deal.

Three times the price for Wano's legendary materials?

Even with Heavenly Tribute making Celestial Dragons obscenely rich, that was practically free money falling from the sky.

Only an idiot would reject it.

He grinned.

Looks like these old men aren't as senile as they look.

Without full intel, they still understood one crucial thing:

Jaeger was a walking calamity — the master of the bone dragon.

And not to mention they didn't treat him as an enemy in the first place.

[Congratulations! A new World Quest opportunity has been detected. Would you like to post the quest to the Chat Group?]

The system prompt echoed in Jaeger's mind.

So after Miyuki Uchiha… it was his turn to post a quest?

Interesting.

He turned to glance at the twitching, broken Mjosgard on the ground.

A lazy grin tugged at Jaeger's lips.
