Chapter 140 - Chapter 140: The Godslayer’s Gamble

Location: Milan, Italy – Campione World

Milan, once the heart of Italy's elegance and splendor, now lay in ruins—shattered buildings, broken streets, and a haunting silence that loomed like a ghost.

Beneath the shadow of its collapse, the silver-haired and fair-haired knights of the Southern European Magic Association trembled.

Despair clung to their expressions as the trauma of their homeland's fall weighed heavily on their shoulders.

Amid the devastation, a man lay sprawled in a crater of debris and blood—Sword King Tony, the once-proud leader of the Southern European Magic Association.

His ornate coat was tattered, stained in red, and his sword lay shattered beside him.

Were it not for the faint rise and fall of his chest, one might have mistaken him for dead.

His defeat was not brought by a god, but by someone perhaps more terrifying—the Godslayer and Martial Arts Queen, Luo Hao.

"L-Luo Hao-sama...!"

Liliana Kranjčar, the silver-haired knight with grace as delicate as an elf, knelt trembling before the Godslayer.

Her voice cracked under pressure, her knee digging into the rubble-strewn ground.

"Please, no more! If this continues, the whole of Italy will be destroyed!"

Beside her, Erica Blandelli gritted her teeth, forcing composure as she added,

"We, the Southern European Magic Association, are willing to abandon the King of Swords and recognize you as our ruler. Please—spare what remains of our people!"

Luo Hao tilted her head, eyes glittering with amusement.

Her smile was beautiful, but there was something terrifying behind it—like a god watching insects beg.

"Oh? You dare bargain with a Godslayer? You girls have guts."

Power surged around her. The sheer pressure of her presence made the air feel heavier.

Liliana and Erica could hardly breathe under the growing spiritual force.

They had heard the rumors, of course—how Luo Hao had single-handedly killed the ancient Godslayer, Marquis Voban, not long ago. But nothing had prepared them for this.

Her power was monstrous.

Their minds replayed the battle just moments ago.

A three-headed, six-armed Vajra had manifested behind Luo Hao, and with a single palm, crushed Tony's divine steel barrier. The shockwave alone had flattened Milan.

This wasn't a fight. It was an execution.

Despite the devastation, no one dared criticize her. Instead, Erica and Liliana chose the only option they had—submission.

But just when they thought the end was near, they felt something strange.

Luo Hao's aura... softened?

Erica blinked, puzzled. Had she accepted their plea?

"Luo Hao-sama... have you agreed to our surrender?" she asked cautiously.

"No," Luo Hao replied, her tone indifferent.

"Eh...?"

Liliana's mouth fell open. If she hadn't agreed, then why…?

"It's a favor—for a friend," Luo Hao said.

Then, without warning, she asked with a mischievous gleam in her eyes,

"Do you two know about enhancing gear in online games?"

The silence was deafening.

"W-We do..."

Liliana stammered, unsure if this was a joke.

Erica, confused but sharp, quickly nodded as well.

"Yes, we're... aware."

It was absurd—hearing Luo Hao, a 200-year-old Godslayer, speak like a teenager in a gaming café. But this was no time to comment on how surreal it was.

"My friend asked me to perform a strengthening ritual—similar to enhancing items in online games. Low chance of success."

She chuckled.

"So here's the deal. If the enhancement succeeds, I'll spare Milan. If it fails... everyone here dies."

"W-What!?"

Liliana's face went pale.

"You would gamble millions of lives on that!?"

Erica lost her composure, kneeling once more.

"My King! This destruction will provoke the other Godslayers! They may band together to eliminate you!"

"Hahaha!"

Luo Hao laughed boldly.

"Let them come! Even if every Godslayer and Heretic God united against me, I would not take a single step back. That is the pride of Luo Hao—the Martial Arts King!"

The knights were speechless. This was no ordinary tyrant. She was a force of nature.

But Luo Hao's expression suddenly turned sharp. Her golden eyes pierced the souls of the two girls.

"Also," she said, "don't think I'm unaware of your intentions. You speak of surrender, but your hearts are hesitant."

Erica opened her mouth, but Luo Hao silenced her with a wave.

"Anyway, enough delay."

With a graceful motion, she summoned two objects: a strange fruit radiating divine power, and a long spear crackling with mythic energy.

"These are the items I'll be strengthening. Their fate—and yours—will be decided by the outcome."

Just then, she paused, tilting her head toward the sky.

Two distinct, overwhelming auras descended.

"...Odin and the Guardian God, is it? Just like last time." She smiled.

"Jaeger, you really sent me something interesting."

"Jaeger?"

Liliana repeated softly, her romantic mind already drifting.

"Who... is he?"

"A dear friend,"

Luo Hao replied simply. "These two divine tools are his."

She pointed to the items.

"This fruit holds the divine essence of Ōkuchi no Makami, and the spear—Gungnir, the Eternal Spear of Odin."

"B-But... having two divine-class items... That's...!" Erica's mind raced.

Liliana was frozen. Could there be someone even stronger than Luo Hao?

"Jaeger is quite the character. Lustful, charming, and fond of beautiful girls." Luo Hao smirked.

"A bold, golden-haired knight and a reserved, silver-haired beauty... I daresay you two are exactly his type."

The girls flushed red. Liliana clutched her skirt awkwardly, while Erica looked away, jaw tight.

They wanted to deny it—to scoff at being 'chosen' by a man they hadn't even met—but Jaeger's connection to Luo Hao made it impossible.

Was he... another Godslayer?

Or someone even more dangerous?

Either way, they thought, we're the ones not worthy of him, not the other way around.

Suddenly, Luo Hao's eyes lit up.

"They're close... the Heretic Gods," she muttered, before turning her focus back to the ritual.

She tossed both items—the fruit and the spear—into a swirling energy vortex, a "enhancement core" crafted from spellwork far beyond mortal comprehension.

The air buzzed.

Erica and Liliana held their breath, hands clenched tightly.

[Ding! Strengthen Success! Congratulations...]

[Ding! Strengthen Success! Congratulations...]

The soft chime of success echoed through the silence.

Luo Hao's smile returned—graceful, serene, and deadly.

"Well then," she whispered, turning her eyes skyward once more.

"It seems Jaeger's luck is even better than I thought."

Erica and Liliana, stunned, let out trembling sighs of relief.

"He's coming," Luo Hao said calmly.

"The Ōkuchi no Makami will be here in minutes. A fine warm-up for what's to come."

The two knights turned their gaze to the heavens.

Far above the ruined city, the sky began to split—light and shadow dancing together.

A Throne in the Void

It was a terrifying figure seated upon a throne carved out of nothingness—a silver-haired, one-eyed king adorned in resplendent golden armor.

Golden rings glinted on each of his fingers. Upon his shoulders perched two solemn ravens, and two monstrous wolves slinked at his feet like shadows given form.

In his hands, he held a spear unlike any other—crafted from the sacred World Tree, it was none other than the fabled Gungnir, the Spear of Destiny.

Just laying eyes on him made Erica and the others convulse.

Their vision blurred, eardrums throbbed, and hearts pounded in chaotic rhythm as though a giant hand gripped them tight.

Blood surged in reverse, their bodies screaming from within. It felt like their existence itself was on the verge of combustion.

There could be no mistake.

This was the King of the Norse Pantheon—Odin, the Allfather.

"You arrogant God-Slayer,"

Odin's voice thundered across the world, "return the authority you stole from me!"

The ground trembled with every word. Earthquakes raged.

Oceans rose with tsunamis. Volcanoes erupted like drums of war heralding the apocalypse.

Reality itself groaned under the weight of his voice.

And yet, Luo Hao remained unfazed.

She raised her chin slightly, eyes glinting coldly as a colossus of divine wrath appeared behind her—a Vajra Warrior, a hundred meters tall, with three heads, six arms, and eyes radiating the light of Tenseigan.

"If this were the real Odin," she said with a scoff,

"perhaps I'd take that threat seriously. But you're nothing more than a fallen god. You dare bark before me?"

Meanwhile, in the Chat Group...

Jaeger and the other members of the chat group had no idea what kind of chaos had just unfolded while Luo Hao was enhancing Jaeger's items.

They certainly didn't expect her to accidentally defeat two Heretic gods and find two potential wives for Jaeger in the process.

If Utaha Kasumigaoka, the ever-jealous beauty, found out about this... well, let's just say another cold war was on the horizon.

Luo Hao: [Gift Box] [Gift Box]

"The enhancement was a success. There were... some unexpected developments along the way. But it all worked out in our favor. See for yourself."

Uchiha Miyuki: ???"So Luo Hao-sama really is on a winning streak? Not only did both of His Highness Jaeger's props get strengthened, none of them broke?"

Scathach: "The success rate is higher than you made it sound. Maybe we've been too cautious..."

Esdeath: "Looking at this, I'm honestly tempted to let Luo Hao try enhancing my Ice Teigu and Devil Fruit. If it succeeds… the results would be terrifying."

Yamamoto Mei: "Don't be reckless. Enhancement is like gambling with your life. When it works, it's divine. When it fails... it's years of regret."

Uchiha Miyuki: "Exactly! Have you ever seen His Highness Jaeger use rare items like 'God's Avoid' or 'Hercules' Belt' for enhancement? No! He only ever sacrifices throwaway tools! Because our dear Luo Hao's luck is... volatile at best!"

Jaeger: "..."

Esdeath: "You're right. Just thinking about how Luo Hao shattered her three god-slaying powers last time is enough to make me calm down."

Luo Hao: "Will I never live that down?! I've had plenty of successful enhancements since then!"

Uchiha Miyuki: "Jaeger-sama! Quickly! Show us the results! I'd never risk enhancing my Mangekyō Sharingan, but at least let me fantasize!"

Jaeger: "Alright. [Picture] [Picture]"

Jaeger didn't plan to refuse. He sent two images. They showed the enhanced results of two artifacts: the Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit and Gungnir.

[Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Ōkuchi no Makami +3]

[Level: 4]

[Type: One-time consumable]

[Description: A mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit, now strengthened thrice. Weakness to seawater has been nullified. All physical stats—endurance, strength, agility, and regeneration—receive a massive boost.]

[Moonlight Bonus: Under moonlight, these buffs are amplified further.]

[Additional Power: Ice Blessing – Gained by slaying the fallen god Ōkuchi no Makami. Grants permanent immunity to ice-based attacks for the user and one chosen ally, so long as stamina remains.]

[Gungnir +3]

[Level: 4]

[Type: Divine Tool]

[Description: The Spear of Odin. Guaranteed to strike its target. After three enhancements, it gains the Pierce effect—capable of breaking through any form of defense, magical or otherwise.]

[Additional Power: Mark of the Great God – Infused with the power of runes obtained by slaying Odin. Upon striking an enemy, Gungnir temporarily seals their power, abilities, or Noble Phantasms. The sealing duration varies based on the opponent's strength.]

Uchiha Miyuki: "This is... absolutely busted! Immunity to ice and a spear that seals powers on hit?! This is full-blown cheating!"

Esdeath: "Wasn't it already a given that Jaeger cheats? But this? These effects are beyond reason. Did Luo Hao's enhancement core evolve into some mythical artifact itself?"
