'What the hell is this?"
Marcus's voice was cold. Controlled. The kind of cold that came before explosions.
Aria looked up from her laptop.
Marcus stood in the doorway of her office, holding her go-bag. The one she'd hidden in the back of her closet, that is full of weapons, fake passports, and enough evidence to destroy everything between them.
"Where did you find that?" Aria asked, her voice steady despite her racing heart.
"You mean, where did I find your arsenal? Your collection of fake identities?" He dumped the contents onto her desk. "I was looking for a phone charger. Found this instead."
Three handguns. Two knives. Four passports with her photo and different names. Cash in multiple currencies. And a file folder.
Marcus opened the folder. His face went white.
"These are surveillance photos. Of me. Hundreds of them." He looked up. "Dating back eight months. Before we even met."
Aria stood slowly. "I can explain."
