After the video conference ended, Nick Fury said to Natasha,
"Natasha, since Thor wants to go to New Mexico, have Coulson arrange someone to take him there. Maybe he'll have a breakthrough and be able to lift his hammer again.
Also, keep looking for any trace of Wanda Django Maximoff."
"Got it," Natasha nodded.
After ending the call, she turned to Thor and said, "Coulson will send you to New Mexico."
"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go now!"
Filled with urgency, Thor didn't want to stay another second. He took out his phone, called Coulson, and quickly made arrangements.
Natasha sat back in her chair, lost in thought.
At the same time, in Linen's apartment—
[Overall trust value of the video exceeds 80%. New skill acquired: Transformation (Beginner).]
[Skill Description: People killed by the host can be transformed into skeleton warriors.]
[Notes:]
The stronger the target killed by the host, the stronger the resulting skeleton warrior.
Current maximum number of skeleton warriors: 300.
After the transformation spell is cast, the skeleton warriors will enter the Hell Dimension and await the host's next summon.
Skeleton warriors are consumable and cannot regenerate once destroyed. The host may replenish them after use.
Reading the new system message, Linen's eyes lit up with excitement.
So anyone he kills can be turned into his own skeleton warrior?
What if, someday, he kills Thanos—and transforms him into a skeleton warrior? Wouldn't that mean he'd have a loyal servant at a "Mad Titan" level of power?
And if the transformation skill could be upgraded to its maximum level, he could command an entire army of the dead with just a wave of his hand!
Now, in addition to summoning undead, he could also create them.
Glancing at the calendar, Linen thought to himself.
It was mid-November, almost 2011. That meant in about a year, the Battle of New York would take place.
The Chitauri might be considered the weakest race in the universe by Rocket Raccoon—but that was all relative.
If Linen could turn them into fearless, pain-free skeleton warriors, then—
A year would be more than enough time for him to master and upgrade the Transformation skill. By then, he could truly call himself a one-man army.
Thinking that, Linen closed the system.
"Linen!"
Just as he was about to go out to buy groceries, Jessica walked in carrying a box of pizza.
"You haven't eaten lunch yet, right?"
She set the pizza down and smiled. "The studio's been set up. We're calling it East Coast Studio. It officially opens in three days. Barbara already settled things with the factory.
But what we need most now is exposure—people have to know what our studio can do!"
As she opened the pizza box, about to grab a slice, Linen slapped her hand lightly.
"Go wash your hands first."
"Tsk."
Jessica rolled her eyes but went to the bathroom.
At the table, Linen drank his Coke while listening to her talk about promoting the studio.
After a few moments, he said, "I can make the dead appear, yes—but are you sure you want to use that trick on your best friend?"
"Of course!" Jessica sneered, swallowing a bite of pizza. "That girl has been fake since childhood—what you'd call a 'green tea type.'
Her father and mine are colleagues, so we grew up together. In front of adults, she'd act all sweet and polite—but behind their backs, she'd team up with others to bully me."
She scowled at the memory. "Once, she and her friends cornered me in the bathroom. I ended up slapping her three times before she finally cried—but even that didn't stop her.
She never bothered me again, but she still bullies others just because her father's a congressman!"
Jessica put down her pizza and leaned closer.
"Let me put it this way, Linen—you're from a regular family. My father's the deputy mayor. But Barbara and I are still willing to kneel before you, to follow you.
That girl? She wouldn't even look at you. She'd probably even tell others to mess with you."
Linen nodded slowly. "So what happens after I summon the undead?"
"Leave the rest to me," Jessica said confidently. "My brother won't admit it, but thanks to our family, he's now an executive at Fox TV in New York."
"When that girl gets haunted by the undead, my brother's TV station will cover it. The news will blow up instantly. I can even get him to start a special segment—or a live 'exorcism show.'"
"Once every priest or wizard they bring in fails, fear will spread. And when you show up like a savior, people will worship you—and our studio will explode in popularity."
She smirked. "Then you'll be famous—New York high society will treat you as a guest of honor. The three of us will be rich beyond imagination.
And believe me, the higher people's status, the more they believe in the supernatural."
Linen picked up the last slice of pizza. "Not bad. But that girl's father is a congressman. Do you really think he'd allow it to be public? Let alone televised?"
Jessica smiled knowingly. "Linen, you're from a common family. Ours is old and influential. There are things you might not understand—no offense.
But trust me. I'll handle it."
Seeing her confidence, Linen nodded. "Alright then, I'll leave it to you."
"No problem!"
Jessica lifted her Coke and clinked it against his. After they drank, she gave him a playful smile.
"Barbara's not here right now, Linen. Still got the energy to spar a little?"
After saying that, without waiting for Lin En to make any move, Jessica knelt directly on the stall...
