Chapter 30 - Chapter 30

"Cooperation!"

When Thor declared that the Chitauri would never submit to Loki, Nick Fury responded firmly,

"Perhaps there's something on Earth the Chitauri want. That could be why they chose to cooperate with Loki."

He continued, "The Chitauri help Loki conquer Earth and make him king, and in return, Loki gives them whatever it is they desire."

Tony Stark, standing nearby, frowned. "So… what could the Chitauri possibly want from Earth? Resources, maybe? Could it be that their home planet's running dry?"

Before Tony could finish, Steve Rogers interrupted, "No—it's the Cosmic Cube."

Everyone turned toward him as he continued, "Seventy years ago, I fought the Red Skull. When I crashed the Valkyrie into the Arctic, the Cube burned through the plane and fell into the ocean. I don't know where it ended up, but one thing's certain—it's still on Earth."

"In that video we just watched, the Chitauri were ultimately defeated by us working together, and Thor took Loki and the Cosmic Cube back to Asgard. That means their real goal was the Cube—but their invasion failed."

After Captain America's analysis, everyone nodded in agreement.

Even Tony Stark, who rarely missed a chance to tease him, muttered a compliment—something along the lines of, "Guess your brain didn't freeze solid after seventy years in ice."

Steve, of course, didn't find that amusing.

Nick Fury fell silent at the mention of the Cosmic Cube. He knew all too well that the Tesseract was currently housed at S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Dark Matter Research Base. Scientists were studying it—hoping to replicate its power to create advanced weapons.

Noticing Fury's expression, Natasha narrowed her eyes. She could tell he was hiding something.

So she spoke up, summarizing calmly, "Let's see if I've got this right. Loki framed Thor, causing Odin to exile him. Then Loki took the opportunity to assassinate the Frost Giant King, Laufey. For some unknown reason, he later joined forces with the Chitauri and invaded Earth, trying to seize the Cosmic Cube—but failed, and was imprisoned afterward."

"While Loki was imprisoned, Thor's mother, Frigga, was killed by the Dark Elves. To avenge her, Thor decided to team up with Loki."

"The only thing unclear now is when this video takes place."

Natasha frowned slightly. "Also, why did Thor have short hair and one eye missing? Did the Dark Elves do that to him? And who was that man strangling Loki at the end?"

She turned to look at the others. "And one more thing—in the final scene, Loki was taken away by Thor, yet another Loki appeared beside Linen wearing a uniform with the letters 'TVA.' What kind of organization is that?"

"And Loki mentioned leaving a surprise for Linen in Pompeii—an Infinity Stone. That connects to the other video we saw earlier. But the question is: how could Linen travel back in time to Pompeii, thousands of years in the past?"

She paused, her expression growing serious. "And the most confusing part—what does 'The Appearance of God' mean? Why is it more important than the lives of billions of people?"

As Natasha finished her breakdown, Tony Stark leaned back in his chair, arms crossed.

"Who knows? Maybe someday we'll figure out time travel—like in Back to the Future."

"But the number of these videos is still too small to pinpoint any exact timeline."

"One thing's for sure, though—the Chitauri will invade Earth under Loki's command in the future. We'd better start preparing now!"

[System Notification: Cinema Hall upgraded to Level 3]

The sudden voice startled everyone.

Tony blinked. "The cinema hall just leveled up? Why? Because we talked about it together?"

Nick Fury nodded. "It's possible. The same thing happened last time."

Then he turned to Natasha. "By the way, how's your investigation on Wanda Maximoff going? She's the only one with a spoiler system we haven't identified yet."

Natasha shook her head. "No solid leads yet. I checked the global database—there are many Wandas, but the only one with the surname Maximoff is in Sokovia, Eastern Europe."

"There's been a civil war there. Wanda Maximoff and her brother, Pietro Maximoff, both went missing during the conflict. Their home was destroyed, and they've been displaced ever since."

She looked over at Tony. "Also, I had S.H.I.E.L.D. agents investigate Sokovia. During the war, many of the rebels' weapons had Stark Industries logos on them."

Everyone turned toward Tony. He raised his hands defensively.

"Hey, that wasn't me. Those were weapons Obadiah Stane sold through his private black-market channels."

Nick raised an eyebrow. Tony continued, "Speaking of Stane—Linen's research was funded by a charity foundation Stane established. So there's that."

Tony stood up and stretched. "Anyway, Natasha, that ritual to summon the demon—is it happening tomorrow?"

"Yeah," Natasha replied coldly.

"Alright then. I'll head back to New York. Vampires, blood slaves, and demon cultists, huh? I can't wait to meet those bastards."

Natasha nodded slightly.

She had already agreed to go with Linen tomorrow—to deal with those monsters who imprisoned children, forced them to eat human flesh, and slaughtered innocents in their dark sacrifices.
