Chapter 40 - Other worldly metal. (Part 1)

"Your ear is bleeding," Thalassia said, running over, touching my ear, as her hand started to glow a green and blue color as she began to heal it. "Thank you, Thalassia," I said, making her smile and blush as she spoke.

"You don't need to thank me, you are already working so hard for us. Healing you isn't that much of a trouble, compared with the weight you have chosen to take upon your shoulders." She said, with a somewhat sad look, as I lifted her head by placing my fingers on her chin and leaned forward to kiss her.

Her eyes widened while I kissed her for a few seconds before pulling away as I spoke to her. "Think of this as a reward for healing me," I said with a grin and wink, making her blush and look away. Even though we have slept together, that was more of a political action. This was more of a loving one, which she kind of liked.

As she healed me, I looked at Luthien and spoke. "Do you know of a metal that is hard and light that doesn't cost much to use? I want something strong to test the new ammo I made." I asked her, making her think for a moment, and nod.

"There is a metal that meets your desire, and we don't use it as it's almost impossible to melt without wasting a lot of power." She said. This made me raise an eyebrow, as I quickly pulled up my Skill, made a plate of 1/2-inch AR-15 steel, and spoke. I use 1/2 inch AR-15 steel for the armor on my Drones. If it is lighter and stronger than this, then it may be wise for me to switch them out.

"Have you ever held a chuckle about this size, and is it heavier or lighter than this steel?" I asked her as she walked over and took up the plate as she spoke. "The metal I am talking about is way lighter than this for the amount of this metal." She said.

Thinking about it, I should really take time to study the metals in this world. There may be several metals better suited to my equipment, but for now, I will focus on a slight improvement when I can. "Can you show me to a place where I can get my hands on different metals?" I asked.

"I shall lead you to the best smiths in the capital, Sir Colt," Varda said, stepping forward as I stood up. Before heading out, I wanted to know just how much I could improve my creations. My blood started to burn. I can make them even more deadly, more perfect. Everything will sway in my favor.

My mind raced with ideas. I had wanted to make artillery drones, but the metal on Earth was too heavy, placing too much strain on them. If this metal she talked about was as strong and fair as light, as the artillery was on Earth. That dream could become a reality, but this made me want to try something I hadn't even considered before.

We left the room as Varda led the way, as the others stayed behind, leaving the palace and mounting a carriage, and I looked out the window as we started to move. "What are you thinking about, Colt?" She asked me, making me look towards her.

"I hadn't felt this alive while creating something in so long; this world can bring new paths to my ideas. I desire more knowledge of this world and the resources it holds. I can feel that, given time, I will be unstoppable in this world." I said, looking at her.

We pulled up to a part of the capital that was busy with work. I opened the carriage door and stepped out, holding my hand out to help Varda climb out as she smiled. A small elve walked out of a building, looking at the princess with sparkling eyes, before another elve, an older one. When the little elf saw me, she quickly hid behind the older one in fear.

"Princess Varda, what can my store do for you?" The older elve said, looking at her, then me, as she held the little one behind her. "Do not fear him, little one. He is someone who helped end the war," Varda said, squatting down, looking at the little girl as I showed the crest on my hand, making the older elve sigh and speak.

"I apologize to you, humans have done a lot of harm to us." The girl's mother said, giving a slight bow as I waved it off. "It's fine, you were just wanting to keep your child safe. I desire to look at the metals in your store. I am trying to find metals that are stronger and lighter than this." I said, pulling out the ar15 steel as she took hold of it.

She held it, running her fingers over it. "What kind of metal is this?" She asked. "This is what is called steel, it's made by using Iron Ore, coking coal, and Limestone while using a blast furnace," I said, making her look confused because she hadn't heard of these things other than Iron Ore. I nodded as I began making a book about the metallurgy of my world.

Handing her the book as she opened it and started to read, I noticed she became lost in thought, which made me chuckle. It was like when I got really into something, as I coughed. "You can keep it, just think of it as a gift to the empire," I said, looking at Varda as she nodded, knowing I would like a little payment for this information.

"Please, follow me inside. I will show you the metals that I have that meet your idea." The woman said, closing the book as we followed her inside, and was brought to a room as she ran off once more, leaving the little girl to sit on a chair, swinging her feet as she kept looking at Varda. I take it, this little girl likes Varda or the idea of being a princess, making me smile.

"Looks like you're someone's idol, Varda," I said with a smirk as she smiled and nodded. "She has always been like that, she wants to be a princess when she grows up. That's what she keeps telling me every time I visit this place." She explained as I chuckled.

It took several minutes for the woman to return with the help of some others, as she brought several chests and laid them on the floor as she opened them. I looked at them and saw seven different types of metal laid out before me. "These are the ones I have inside the shop, but I can think of four more that meet your needs." She said as I noticed a black-purplish metal and picked it up.

The moment I did, a bell sounded, and I smirked from ear to ear.

[Do you want to learn how to make Nightshade steel? Yes or no.]

"That metal is called Nightshade; it is stronger and lighter than this metal. But it's almost impossible to forge things, as the melting point requires too much energy. Its effect is amazing, but sadly, no one has been able to make it worth the price to use it in forging." She said.

"What's its effect?" I asked with confusion as she tilted her head as if she couldn't understand how I didn't know it. "It can help someone become almost completely invisible at nighttime." She said as I quickly pressed yes.

"Can you explain the other metals to me and their effects?" I said with my eyes gleaming like a child in a candy store.
