The night flew past as both their bodies drank of the well of passion with cups that seemed to have no limits.
Kyrie and Vivienne both fell back on the bed exhausted and yet somehow would hop onto each other again if given the opportunity.
The morning cold drifted in through the glass windows on the side of the bed as the lovers laid there, heavy breaths between them.
"You know I meant what I said " Vivienne whispered softly, even as her head rested on his chest and her fingers trailing his midsection.
"About what" Kyrie asked with his right hand behind his head and eyes slightly shut, he felt both tired and refreshed at the same time.
"That I love you." Her head tilting upwards, hazel eyes staring seemingly searching for a reaction.
"It's You, only you, never him "
Kyrie's eyes snapped open as the final pieces of this puzzle fell in place.
The true nature of this relationship. The thrill of their secrecy. The actual weight of what they were doing. Her husband and the dangers that came with him.
" Vivienne — "
"I don't care for your worries" she spoke even as her finger slid between his lips, hushing him.
" The consequences be damned as well "
"I am yours and always will be" She concluded with a tone of submission and yet determination.
Kyrie's crimson eyes stared down at her as he was actually lost on how to respond to that.
He found himself caught between the warmth and sincerity of her words and the cold reality of infidelity that came with them.
He still wanted to reply but a smile emerged on her face. One that locked his lips even as she spoke, hazel eyes that melted his heart.
"Just… stay with me." She said quietly
"At least for now "
Kyrie slowly retrieved his hand from underneath his head. Hugging and bringing her closer to himself.
"Am not going anywhere —
She smiled comfortably.
– Except the kitchen maybe " He continued with a sly grin on his face as she playfully beat on his chest.
"Ohh you! " She laughed softly
"You want some water too right ? " he asked lifting his body slowly even as she allowed him.
"Of course baby " she responded as she laid on the bed again, wrapping her body on the sheets even as he went down the stairs.
Kyrie entered the kitchen which was quite dark. He remedied that by conjuring a wisp of fire in his palm.
He got a glass cup and got some water that he finished in a single gulp.
He took a deep breath, finally taking in the peace that came with this woman.
And for only a brief moment, he believed it would last after all the recent chaos.
He walked out of the kitchen a glass of water in hand and then it happened.
BOOM !
Splinters of wood came flying in and behind them were three men, guns in hand with eyes that scanned the room.
Kyrie sighed as he saw his peace shatter again.
Vivienne on the hand leaped off the bed racing down seemingly out of reflex.
"Quite the Knock." Kyrie remarked, trying to water down the weight of the situation.
From behind the three men whose attention had now been directed to him. A fourth man entered. Eyes blue and cold.
Ding!
A notification appeared in front of Kyrie
[EMERGENCY QUEST]
[Objective: Survive the onslaught of your attackers ]
[ Rewards: TBA ]
[Failure: DEATH]
Kyrie dismissed it with a thought. He was quite aware of his situation.
Even while Kyrie was trying to fully wrap his mind around the situation. Vivienne moved with purpose literally leaping in front of him.
"Don't!" she screamed with arms spread out In front of Kyrie.
The three men with guns raised hesitated as their eyes moved back towards their leader the fourth man.
"Get out of the way, Mrs.Thawne." A cold and coarse voice came.
"You give me orders now?" Vivienne responded with a confidence that shocked everyone except the leader.
The other men were still looking at the leader, waiting for his directions even as their hands stayed close to the triggers of the revolvers.
"If you shoot him then you shoot me — and we know what happens if you do " She said moving further in front of Kyrie who was quite surprised at this point.
The three men now exchanged glances fully aware that she was right. If anything happened to her here.
Even something as meagre as a scratch would mean the boss would have their heads.
" Vivienne–" Kyrie's voice came solemnly.
" Move "
" No "
" Move "
" Run Kyrie! " She yelled, not looking back. Keeping her eyes glued on the men.
" Get out now "
Kyrie was conflicted. He wanted to protect her but she was now the one telling him to run away.
He didn't want to listen to her. He wanted to fight and yet he wanted to escape but it wouldn't be ideal to leave her alone with this men.
Would it ?
He hesitated and she saw it. She hissed under her breath as she went into full protective mode.
She did the unexpected suddenly allowing the sheets that draped over her fall to the ground.
She was stark naked and in front of all of them.
" Close your eyes fools "
"'The boss is going to kill us "
All the henchmen quickly shut their eyes, turning away.
They knew if the boss even caught word of them staring at his wife's nakedness then they had basically signed for new jobs in the afterlife.
Kyrie in that second snapped out of his hesitation as he took advantage of the situation.
His hand flickered red for a split second.
> Emperor's Hand
He telekinetically reached across the space, to get a.grip on one of the henchmen's guns.
The man still had his finger on the trigger even with his eyes shut and Kyrie took advantage of that.
He motioned slightly and the gun was angled towards the man's companion.
BANG.
The gunshot echoed as the bullet ripped through the second henchman's shoulder, causing him to scream, collapsing to the floor.
As chaos erupted instantly
"Are you mad bastard "
"You fucking shot me!"
"I didn't— fuck.. I didn't mean to—"
"Shut up!" The leader's voice erupted even as he dodged the glass of water, Kyrie threw his way simultaneous to the shot.
"Focus on him , you fools "
While he spoke, Kyrie was already on the move.
He grabbed his shirt that was lying on the ground and leaped on the bedroom's platform like a gymnast.
The other henchmen tried focusing upon the order. Their guns swinging in Kyrie's direction.
Almost absent-mindedly, another shot came, the bullet piercing the bed stand inches beside the cartwheeling Kyrie.
Vivienne turned in shock immediately she heard the shot, looking behind in fear.
Kyrie had leaped onto the bed, his mind racing even as his eyes darted left to right.
he looked to the only direct escape routes which was an old window closer to the other side of the room or him smashing through the window beside the bed.
His mind going into overdrive as he scanned the street below through the window and an idea surfaced.
It was early in the morning and still foggy but he could discern the lamppost, the pipes running along the building's exterior, and the iron railing of the balcony across the alley.
They were all options but he needed only one.
The henchman who was now back to his senses tried closing on him afraid of hitting Vivienne who was rushing to his side again.
Kyrie poised himself, a smirk on his face even as everything suddenly felt slower.
He chorused in his mind
Shift.
And then a Snap.
He was gone.
