Chapter 66: Linlin VS Kong!
Charlotte Linlin was still too young, inexperienced, and untrained in real combat.
Her only technique was her brute-force "Turtle Fist," and even with Zeus's help, she was no match for Admiral Kong.
Linlin swung again and again, raining heavy punches toward her opponent while Zeus fired bolts of lightning to cover her. But Kong calmly raised his arm—his Armament Haki expanding outward to form a barrier that absorbed the electric assault.
The released Haki was a refined technique—able to create barriers for defense or unleash shockwaves for offense. It could attack and defend alike.
"Boom!"
Linlin was blasted backward by Kong's strike, her body slamming through the main mast. The mast snapped, crashing down across the deck and shaking the ship violently until it began to tilt.
"Ahhh!" Linlin screamed as she lost balance and fell toward the sea.
"Mom!" Zeus cried, darting beneath her. The thundercloud swooped under Linlin's body, catching her just before she hit the water.
"No, this guy's too strong! Linlin can't win!" Zeus shouted as he turned, flying away at full speed.
"Trying to run?" Kong sneered. He raised his right hand, focusing his power into a single finger before flicking it forward.
A sharp blast of compressed air erupted from his fingertip—
Flying Finger Gun!
The deadly technique, an advanced version of the Six Styles' Finger Gun, shot through the sky like a bullet. It pierced Zeus clean through the center, leaving a gaping hole of dispersing vapor.
But the thundercloud didn't slow. The hole instantly sealed itself, reforming in the blink of an eye.
"Tch. What a nuisance," Kong muttered. He could use Moon Step to fly temporarily, but chasing down a sentient thundercloud would drain too much stamina.
"Chase them! Don't let Harold Roy or Charlotte Linlin escape!"
Kong shouted to his men as he landed back on the warship's deck.
"Yes, sir!" his subordinates responded, immediately taking aim.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Bullets wrapped in Armament Haki tore through the air toward Zeus, but the thundercloud moved far too fast. Within moments, it vanished from range.
---
On the giant pirate ship, Roy was sparring with Toki, practicing his daily kendo forms, when a sudden flash appeared on the horizon.
Redding turned sharply. "Why is she coming back again?"
"Wait… that's not right," Roy said, lowering his sword. He focused his gaze—and saw Zeus streaking toward them, trembling in panic.
Linlin was clinging to his back, pale-faced and terrified.
"Hurry, Brother Roy!" Linlin shouted, her voice shaking. It was the first time she had ever sounded genuinely afraid.
"We ran into a monster! He's coming for you!" Zeus cried out.
"Who?" Roy stepped forward quickly as Zeus landed on the deck.
"The enemy is Admiral Kong!" Linlin blurted.
Roy's expression hardened. "Turn the ship around. We're leaving!"
Redding didn't argue. Against a Marine Admiral, fighting back was suicide.
They were still children compared to someone like Kong—a trained killer against a boy with a blade.
"That ugly old man—his moves were so weird! They're impossible to guard against!" Linlin said, gritting her teeth.
Roy glanced at her. "What kind of moves?"
"I didn't see everything clearly," she said quickly. "He twists his body like a snake to dodge my punches, disappears in an instant, then reappears behind me! And his palm can form invisible barriers that block Zeus's lightning!"
"Advanced Armament Haki…" Roy muttered, recalling the higher forms—hardening, entanglement, internal destruction, external release.
Kong's mastery was far beyond them. Roy had no intention of testing it himself.
"You three, swim faster!" he shouted to the serpent trio below deck.
The sea serpents flinched under his command—and under Redding's threatening glare—before surging forward, whipping their tails furiously to drag the massive ship.
"Zeus! Horus! Add wind to the sails!" Roy ordered.
"Yes, Brother Roy!" Linlin echoed his command without hesitation.
"…"
Zeus and Horus looked at each other helplessly, sparks crackling.
They were thunderclouds, not wind generators—but disobeying wasn't an option.
Both clouds puffed their cheeks, inhaled deeply, and unleashed gusts of wind across the sails. The ship surged forward so suddenly that the serpents yelped in surprise, their bodies struggling to keep pace.
Roy grinned with satisfaction. "Much better."
"They're coming!" Linlin shouted, pointing behind her.
Roy turned to see a warship cutting through the waves, its bow slicing closer every second.
"Return to Elbaf!" he ordered.
"Got it!" Redding roared, steering the ship sharply.
Behind them, Kong's warship thundered across the sea, chasing hard—but ahead, Roy's ship flew faster than ever, powered by serpents and storm.
The distance widened until the warship vanished beyond the mist.
"Damn it!" Kong slammed his fist against the railing, his face twisting with frustration.
He had underestimated the boy. Linlin could only flee by thundercloud—but Roy? Roy used two thunderclouds to power an entire ship.
His plan to use Linlin as bait and capture them both in one sweep had failed spectacularly.
"Send word to headquarters!" Kong barked. "Deploy two fleets to patrol the waters around Fishman Island, twenty-four hours a day!"
He narrowed his eyes toward the horizon.
"Roy's goal is to sail the world. No matter where he runs… I'll catch him."
