Chapter 6 - Chapter 5: Mystery.

Ranes charged towards the Ravengar. Behind him were two others. The Ravengar leaped onto one wall and landed on the other as it made its way up to the roof of each building.

But before it could land, Ranes jumped, blocking where the Ravengar could escape, and he took steps closer towards the Ravengar.

The Ravengar growled and turned around, attempting to jump into another building, but its eyes widened as it saw the other two on top of the building it attempted to land on.

The Ravengar narrowed its eyes, scanning the area, but the other buildings it could land on were far away from it. Not only were the buildings far, but if it landed on the ground, it would still get caught by the other soldiers on the ground.

The Ravengar growled. It bent slightly, getting ready to charge at Ranes, who was ready to kill it as soon as it pounced on him.

The clouds separated, leaving a gap for the sun rays to pass through, and it shined down upon the Ravengar and Ranes.

The Ravengar charged; its feet shattered the roof as it lunged. Ranes bent his knees, slightly spreading his hands as balls of fire began to expand.

Before Ranes could raise his hands up, a figure jumped into the air with a sword in its hand, blocking the rays of the sun. The wind carried its short black hair, and in the blink of an eye it landed on the Ravengar, piercing the sword into its head and sending it down to the last floor of the building they were on.

Dust filled the area, and dust motes could be seen due to the rays of sunlight.

Ranes was speechless; his eyes were wide, he couldn't blink. Instead, he gradually lowered his head to look at the rubble.

"What in the world just happened? Who was that?" Ranes said to himself.

"Gather around now!" Ranes called for the others before jumping down to have a closer look at what he had just witnessed.

They walked into the building as the dust gradually disappeared; their footsteps echoed through the building. The deeper they went, the more dust they encountered.

"How are we ever going to find whatever we're searching for in here?" one of them asked.

"You're right, Chul, I can hardly breathe," another replied.

"Quiet down, it feels like we're getting closer," Ranes said.

Chul sighed before answering, "Okay s— Whoa!" Before he could finish, he tripped on something and fell.

"What's wrong?" one asked.

"I just tripped on something," he said as he stood up. As the dust began to disappear, they saw the Ravengar, dead. A sword was pinned on its head as blood poured out of its lifeless body.

"You did it, Commander. You finished it off?" one said.

Ranes remained quiet before answering, "No, Jun. I didn't kill it... Someone else did."

They were all silent.

"Hey, what's that?" one of the females among them pointed at a writing on the wall; it was written with blood.

"What the...?" Ranes walked towards it. As he got closer, he began reading.

"'There are still others who're stranded, please help them.'" Ranes' eyes narrowed, but quickly widened as he gasped.

"Where's the man we saved?" Ranes asked as he quickly turned to look at them.

The rest stared at each other. "That's right, we were so focused on fighting against the Ravengar that we forgot to keep an eye on him. Why do you ask, sir?"

The dust completely disappeared, giving them a clear vision of their surroundings. "Wait, is that my sword?" said one of the soldiers who was to guard Ji-hoon, as he saw his sword on the Ravengar's head.

Ranes was speechless. The figure was so fast that no one else could see it except him, and him seeing it was just for a few seconds. "No doubt about it, it's definitely him!"

Ji-hoon's footsteps echoed as he made his way down the silent street.

[REWARD]

[BLACK BLADE (LV 2)]

"By defeating the Ravengar, I was able to get a new item crafted from the horn of the Ravengar—the Black Blade. It still wouldn't do much, but I can still fight and level up with it."

As he walked, he could hear the sound of the aircraft heading toward his direction. He quickly hid inside one of the buildings until it flew past him at high speed.

"So that's how fast that thing goes? From inside, you won't even notice," Ji-hoon said as he made his way out.

"My other stats increased, but I'll check them later. I'll head into the woods; surely there are monsters out there which I can kill."

Ji-hoon tapped on his new sword and it appeared in his palm. He grinned. "Looks like I'm not useless after all. No one died in my presence. I have to train harder to defeat the Arch Demon who nearly killed me in my previous life," Ji-hoon said as he threw the sword, sending it through multiple buildings before it pinned a demon's head to the wall.

With the stretch of his hand, the sword returned back into his palm. "From now on, things shall go my way."
