Chapter 94 - Chapter 94: The Struck Thor and the Lightning Crown

Clad in crackling, gold-blue lightning armor, born from the very essence of the storm and Mjolnir's celestial power, Su Yi felt an impossible, overwhelming surge of energy. He hadn't just lifted the hammer; he had been accepted into its lineage.

The lightning flared, forming a temporary, intricate suit of divine mail that pulsed with the sound of distant thunder. It lasted only a moment—just long enough for the Allfather's enchantment to acknowledge its new secondary wielder.

A moment later, the lightning retracted, the power flowing back into the hammer, and Su Yi descended from the air, landing lightly in front of Jane and the others, his original clothes now looking slightly scorched but otherwise intact.

Jane immediately pounced, not in fear, but with the desperate relief of a woman seeing her loved one survive a lightning strike. She threw herself onto Su Yi, who instinctively caught her with one arm, Mjolnir still resting easily in his other hand.

"Su, are you alright? You were encased in pure energy!" she gasped, running her hands over his chest to check for burns.

"I'm fine, Jane," he said, smoothing her hair. "I just received its recognition, and it shared a portion of its lightning divine power with me."

Darcy stared, utterly speechless, then slowly raised a shaky finger. "So... so now, are you... are you the true God of Thunder now? I mean, you literally got a crown of lighting."

Su Yi gently shook his head, placing Mjolnir on his shoulder, where it rested effortlessly. "I have no interest in being Thor, Darcy. I only want to be with Jane for the rest of my life. I want to protect this world and ensure its stability, and I don't need a godly title for that."

He turned, his expression serious, and looked at Thor, who was still standing nearby, physically unharmed but mentally shattered.

Thor could not process it. A mere mortal, a creature he had dismissed as insignificant moments ago, not only lifted his hammer but spoke of responsibility and protection with the authority of Odin himself.

"How is this possible?" Thor whispered, his voice thick with disbelief and agony. "Why would Mjolnir recognize you? I am Thor Odinson! I am the rightful heir!"

Su Yi stepped closer, lowering his voice so only the God and the Agents could hear the gravitas of his words. He was no longer a civilian scientist; he was an equal, a Wielder, perhaps even a mentor.

"Thor, you don't even understand the responsibilities a god should bear, let alone fulfill them. Your heart is proud, your solution is violence, and your focus is only on power, not on those you rule. Mjolnir is not a hammer, Thor. It is a tool for a King who protects the weak."

Su Yi tapped the hammer's head. "When you truly understand that responsibility—when you prove you are willing to give up everything for the sake of others—you will receive Mjolnir's recognition. And when you do, I will return it to you."

He paused, letting the promise hang in the dust-filled air. "Mjolnir belongs to you and Asgard; I will not keep it. But if you are unworthy of it, it will be very disappointed. So, Thor, think carefully and reflect on yourself. Your father's lesson is more profound than you know."

Thor was incredibly dejected. The humiliation of the taser was nothing compared to the complete spiritual devastation of being judged unworthy by his own weapon. He began to reflect, a nascent flicker of doubt piercing his immense, 1,500-year-old pride.

Su Yi, satisfied with the initial psychological damage, dispelled the lingering sparks of the lightning aura. "Coulson, it seems this place no longer needs protection. I'll take Mjolnir for now. Once Thor receives its recognition, I will return the hammer to him."

Coulson watched the interaction with the cool professionalism of a man who had seen too much. He had just witnessed a civilian transform into a force capable of wielding the power of a god. He could only offer a polite, slightly strained smile.

"This artifact was never ours to begin with, Mr. Su. If it can be returned to its rightful owner, then that is naturally for the best. S.H.I.E.L.D. will coordinate with you. You have the asset, and you have our cooperation."

Su Yi nodded, placing the massive hammer into Jane's RV for safekeeping. "Coulson, there's one more thing. Before long, some changes might occur here. Send some people to be ready to evacuate the townspeople at any time. I estimate a hostile, high-level Asgardian entity is en route."

Coulson was extremely worried, pulling Su Yi aside. "Do you need us to send in more personnel? Specialized teams? We have resources ready."

"This is a battle of the divine realm; ordinary people might not be able to handle it," Su Yi warned. "Leave the fight to Thor. If he cannot bear the heavy responsibility of his destiny, then leave it to me. I will solve the problem, but I need your help to minimize damage and prevent a human panic."

"If necessary, I can evacuate the townspeople right now," Coulson suggested, already mentally prioritizing civilian safety over his containment field.

"That's not necessary yet," Su Yi countered. "Let's not cause panic. I will control the scope of the impact to avoid unnecessary losses. Prepare your logistics, but hold the order."

"Understood, Mr. Su," Coulson said, grabbing his secure satellite phone. "I need to consult my superiors for authorization to deploy a tactical evacuation framework, but consider it authorized."

"Go ahead," Su Yi agreed. He then gathered Jane, Darcy, and Selvig, pulling the now-silent Thor along like a lost child. They headed back to the dusty town of Puente Antiguo. Su Yi was helpless. It seemed that after becoming Spider-Man's guide, he was now going to be Thor's mentor and Asgard's planetary defense advisor all at once.

Meanwhile, in the luminous, golden palace of Asgard, Loki sat upon the immense throne of Odin, the weight of the Allfather's crown resting heavily but satisfyingly on his brow. He felt the vast power of the realm pulse beneath him, but it was still only temporary.

Loki was not satisfied with being a placeholder. He wanted to be the true, beloved King and wanted to secure Odin's posthumous permission and recognition of his competence. To achieve this, he had to eliminate two problems: the potential return of his brother, Thor, and the continued threat of Jotunheim.

Loki formulated a scheme of brutal political efficiency: eliminate his rival Thor by ensuring his banishment was permanent, and simultaneously destroy the Frost Giants, thus proving his worth as a strong, ruthless King who did what Odin never dared. He even twisted the Bifrost's controls to ensure only he could use it.

Everything was going as Loki expected, down to the last tremor of his feigned grief. However, Loki did not know that a mortal named Su Yi had already shattered the unliftable enchantment of Mjolnir.

After preparing his final, devastating lie, Loki came to Earth under the cover of a freezing night, manifesting directly in the small, dusty town. He easily found his brother, who was alone in his small, cheap motel room, contemplating the existential failure of his life.

Loki appeared before him in a flash of green light and perfect, tailored leather.

"Loki, why are you here?" Thor asked, rising slowly, sensing the cold, calculated tension in his brother's posture.

"I had to come see you," Loki said, his voice a low, perfect pitch of sorrow.

Thor immediately felt a dreadful premonition, a coldness that had nothing to do with Loki's Frost Giant heritage. "What happened? Tell me, is it about Jotunheim? Let me go explain to Father."

"Brother..." Loki lowered his head, feigning genuine tears. "Father is dead."

Loki's words were a brutal, shocking hammer blow that finished what Mjolnir had started. Thor collapsed, sinking into the chair, his face a mask of boundless, crushing grief. He had lost his hammer, his power, his pride, and now, his father—he couldn't even see him one last time.

Thor was incredulous. "What? No, it cannot be!"

Loki continued the deception with masterful control. "Your banishment, the constant threat of war you provoked... it made it unbearable for him. He died in his sleep, the stress of your actions finally overwhelming the Allfather. He died in peace, brother, but he died alone."

Because of these consecutive losses, Thor finally realized the depth of his foolishness. The pride that had blinded him was now an ocean of guilt.

Loki pressed the knife deeper. "I know you loved him. I also tried to persuade him to bring you home, but he wouldn't listen. He felt he had failed you." Loki spread his hands in a gesture of false magnanimity. "Now, I have temporarily taken over the throne, as the custom dictates."

Thor was utterly disheartened, with only a glimmer of hope remaining for the one thing he had left. "Can I go home? Can I return to my mother?"

Loki's face hardened, making the lie feel like a necessary, painful decree. "The condition for a truce with Jotunheim—which I managed to secure, just barely—is your eternal banishment. If you return, the war will resume. And Mother... Mother doesn't want to see you either. She says your recklessness killed Father."

Loki finished his performance, stepping forward to embrace his broken brother. "I came to say goodbye to you, brother. I'm so sorry."

Thor was heartbroken, but the crushing guilt had replaced his pride. The last vestiges of his old self crumbled. "No, Loki. It's all my fault." Tears streamed down his face. "Thank you for coming to see me. Take care of Mother, and Asgard."

Loki smiled inwardly. Perfect.

"Father also threw Mjolnir over," Loki continued, keeping his voice subdued. "You know, this is an Asgardian item; I must take it back. It is a state security concern."

Thor, still grief-stricken, remembered the last moments of his humiliation. He was about to speak of Su Yi and the hammer when the motel room door swung inward.

Su Yi stood silhouetted in the doorway, Mjolnir held casually in his hand, as if it were a beer mug. "Do you want to take it back, King Loki?"

Loki's elaborate performance was instantly derailed. He looked at Su Yi, a mortal, effortlessly holding Mjolnir, and his surprise was genuine, quickly morphing into contemptuous rage.

"You are just a lowly mortal, how dare you touch a divine artifact?" Loki roared, pointing a trembling finger at Su Yi. He manifested his twin knives of Asgardian steel, holding them with theatrical menace.

Su Yi placed Mjolnir on the floor between them, allowing the hammer to thud dully against the cheap carpet. It was an inviting challenge. "If you can lift it, you can take it back. Come on, King Loki. Prove your worth."

"You're sensible," Loki scoffed, his pride refusing to consider the possibility of worthiness. The mortal must have used a primitive machine or a pully system to move it. Loki cautiously approached the hammer, then gripped the handle.

He pulled. Nothing. He strained, using his Jotun-level strength, convinced it was an immovable, unpowered artifact. He focused his limited magical strength, attempting to will the hammer to move, his entire body shaking with effort.

Loki failed. Just like his brother. He couldn't budge Mjolnir at all.

Su Yi looked at the red-faced, straining Loki, recalling the most famous meme of the decade. He couldn't help but let out a burst of hearty laughter that echoed in the small room.

"Puny God!"

Mocked by a mortal, publicly humiliated in front of his rival, Loki could hold back no longer. The carefully constructed façade of the grief-stricken King shattered, revealing the desperate, envious trickster beneath.

He raised his hands, and a burst of green energy—a deceptive, illusion-based attack—shot toward Su Yi.

"Enough!" Loki shrieked, his voice laced with venom. "You lowly mortal, I am a god! Kneel before me!"

Loki's attack had no effect. Su Yi raised his free hand, and a defensive, crackling shield of raw lightning—channeled directly from Mjolnir's reserve power—flashed into existence, effortlessly blocking and dispersing Loki's magical blast. The room filled with the smell of ozone.

Loki immediately fell into impotent rage, his eyes flashing with desperate malice. "I will let you witness the wrath of a god!"

Su Yi looked at the enraged Loki with a teasing, patronizing expression, the ultimate expression of confident, total control. He was ready to drop the final, most devastating spoilers.

"Loki, do you think that by defeating Thor, you can seize the throne? How foolish." Su Yi shook his head, sounding genuinely disappointed.

"You two probably don't know this yet, but actually, you have an older sister. The Goddess of Death, Hela!"

Both Thor and Loki froze, the name cutting through their grief and rage like a sonic boom. They had never heard this name before. The history of the Nine Realms, carefully whitewashed by Odin for centuries, was suddenly being peeled back by a Midgardian scientist.

"She is even more powerful than Thor," Su Yi continued, holding their gaze. "And far more ambitious than you could ever imagine. She was the one who helped Odin conquer the Nine Realms before he grew soft. She was so bloodthirsty, so utterly relentless, that she had to be banished long ago, sealed away by Odin's own magic and the might of the Valkyries—who were all wiped out by Hela when they tried to stop her."

Thor and Loki were shocked into silent immobility. A hidden sister? A Goddess of Death who slaughtered Asgard's greatest warriors?

"Mortal, do you think I would be deceived by such a transparent lie?" Loki tried to bluff, though his voice was thin.

Su Yi smiled and said, "If you don't believe me, you can go back and ask your Mother, Frigga. She was there."

"Loki, you are indeed clever, full of tricks. You are the God of Mischief," Su Yi concluded, his tone shifting from teasing to utterly scathing. "However, they are all petty tricks. In the face of absolute strength—in the face of true, cosmic threats like your older sister—they are as ridiculous as children playing house."

Su Yi raised Mjolnir, which hummed threateningly. "To become the true King of the Gods, you need great wisdom and powerful strength. You need long-term vision and to care for the Nine Realms. You are simply incapable of these things, Loki! You are a fraud! A pretender! Now get out of here, before I decide to teach you why Midgardians are not to be trifled with."

Su Yi's words, backed by the humming celestial power in his hand, were devastating. He had stripped Loki bare: usurper, unworthy, and irrelevant in the face of the true threat that was coming.

Loki stared at Mjolnir, at Su Yi, and then at his broken brother, realizing his perfect plan had been utterly dismantled by a mortal who was somehow more worthy of his father's weapon than either of his sons.
