Chapter 190 — Fiona Thinks Lip Is an Ungrateful Bastard

"Boss, it's this truck," Ado said, pointing beside him.

Nando gave a small nod.

It had been nearly ten hours since last night. Flying in from Brazil to Chicago this fast—he had already pushed his limits.

"Open it."

He gave the order to Steve.

At the same time, Estefania had also been called over.

Clang—

The container doors swung open once more.

Inside—rows upon rows of U.S.-made weapons.

Only Ado and Steve had seen it before. The rest instinctively sucked in a cold breath.

It was… overwhelming.

Even Nando couldn't stay calm.

It wasn't about how much the shipment was worth.

It was about one thing—

How the hell it got here.

There were no U.S. military factories anywhere near Chicago.

And even if there were, they wouldn't be producing every model like this.

There was a military base nearby.

But a general secretly selling off entire inventories?

America might be corrupt—but not that corrupt.

Even someone like Commissioner Smith would still need to care about public optics. Deals like that had to stay hidden.

This?

This was blatant.

Despite Ado already verifying the shipment, Nando climbed into the container himself.

He picked up a rifle and examined it carefully.

Then grabbed a crowbar and pried open another crate.

Different models—but the laser serial markings told the same story.

Every single piece—

Authentic U.S. military issue.

Cold sweat trickled down his back.

He carefully put the weapon back, stepped down from the truck, and said:

"Close it. Lock it."

Then he turned to Estefania.

"Come with me."

She nodded and followed.

They walked over to a vending machine at the edge of the parking lot.

Nando inserted cash and bought a bottle of coffee and a juice.

He handed the juice to her.

Then, after a brief pause, he looked at her seriously.

"Estefania… tell me the truth."

"What exactly is your relationship with that guy, William?"

Nando wasn't stupid.

From what Ado and Steve told him, William had stayed in her apartment for over five hours.

If nothing happened in that time—

Then he'd have to start questioning whether this girl was even his daughter.

After all—

A father knows his daughter best.

"Dad, I…" Estefania hesitated.

She still hadn't grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Instead, she thought Nando might be planning to kill William.

But when she recalled the past few days—the passion, the thrill—

She found herself completely unwilling to let him go.

Seeing the way she instinctively defended William, Nando let out a long sigh.

How did I raise such a foolish daughter…

"I'm not going to do anything to him," he said, calming himself.

"Just answer me."

"Have you slept with him?"

Estefania looked at her father in confusion.

In the past, if he ever found out she was fooling around with some man, that person would probably end up at the bottom of the ocean the very next day.

So why was he acting so differently now?

She couldn't make sense of it.

Still, she nodded and admitted it.

Hearing that, Nando reached out and gently patted her head.

"Keep this relationship going. It'll benefit both you and me."

His tone was unusually serious—almost… instructive.

So much so that Estefania wondered if she'd misheard him.

After settling things with her, Nando turned his attention back to the truck full of weapons, already calculating how to move everything back to Brazil.

This shipment was far more valuable than what he'd paid.

And he wasn't stupid—there was no such thing as a free lunch.

If the price was low, it meant the other party wanted something else.

Was William trying to break into Chicago's powder market? Become the biggest supplier here?

Given his own line of work, that was the only explanation Nando could come up with.

What he never imagined…

Was that William had gone through all this trouble just to get close to his daughter.

At the same time, while Nando was dealing with the weapons—

Fiona was standing in front of the small van where Lip had been sleeping for the past two days.

"So what, you planning to live in here forever?"

She stood with her hands on her hips, staring at Lip, who was inside smoking.

After two days of cooling off, the siblings were finally able to talk without exploding.

As for how Fiona found him—

She had William to thank.

One word from him, and nearly every small-time thug in the area had helped track Lip down.

No one dared refuse.

After all, the local arms trade had already been completely reshuffled.

Those who used to sell knockoff guns had either quit or fled the area.

They didn't have a choice.

It wasn't that they hadn't thought about taking out the new players—

It was that before they could even get close, they'd already been eliminated by people who clearly weren't ordinary.

Judging by their gear… they were likely tied to official forces.

That alone was enough to scare everyone off.

"Why do you care?" Lip glanced at Fiona lazily, completely unconcerned.

Fiona let out a cold laugh.

"How much money do you even have left? Enough to keep buying cigarettes?"

She glanced at the pile of cigarette butts beside him.

Most of them had been smoked all the way down to the filter.

Some had clearly been picked back up and smoked again.

Lip was broke.

And he didn't even bother hiding it.

"What's it to you?" he shot back.

The truth was—

He had no money left at all.

If this kept up, he'd be lining up at a church for handouts like the homeless.

If Fiona hadn't come today, that was probably where he'd end up.

From there?

Drinking. Drugs.

Five or six years later—dead in some alley.

Honestly, that would've been one of his better outcomes.

But William had no intention of letting things end that easily.

Letting Lip crash and burn like that?

Too cheap.

He'd rather lift him up first—

Then watch him fall.

At first, William had no real conflict with Lip.

But Lip had been targeting him like a mad dog ever since.

That alone was enough reason.

"What do you want from me?" Fiona asked, her tone weary.

"What will it take for you to come home… and go back to school?"

"I already apologized."

She truly looked helpless.

And in her mind, William was right—

Lip was still just a kid. Immature. Reckless.

As adults, they shouldn't hold it against him.

Yes—

The only reason Fiona had swallowed her pride and come looking for Lip…

Was because William had convinced her to.

Which only made her think even more highly of him.

And at the same time—

It made Lip's earlier accusations sound even worse.

William had been trying to help him.

And yet Lip had lashed out like that.

Ungrateful.

Pathetic.

A complete white-eyed wolf.
