"STOP GOSSIPING ABOUT ME!!!"
The sound bounced off the concrete walls like someone else had screamed, not her. She pressed both hands to her face and let the cold air settle around her. It was colder up here, a little windy, but she needed that.
The rooftop was usually never empty at this hour. People came up here to smoke, chat, pretend to be talking about work while gossiping about who wore what and who was sleeping with whom. But luck seemed to pity her today and left the place empty, at least for now, so she took it as a sign. Or a temporary blessing. Something like that.
Her heart still felt too tight. Like someone had taken all the air in her chest and filled it with wet cotton instead.
It had been gossip after gossip. First in the elevator. Then the cafeteria. And the staring, geez. There was always someone staring. Some curious, some judging, some downright disgusted.
