Sallie’s POV
I slapped him with everything I had. The crack echoed off the office walls like a gunshot. Years of rage poured into that single blow.
Kevin stumbled backward, a full-grown man knocked off balance by my hand. He crashed into the decorative table beside him, his forehead catching the sharp corner with a sickening thud.
Blood streamed down his face as he swayed, gripping a chair to keep from collapsing completely. When he finally steadied himself and turned back to me, his eyes were wild with shock.
“Are you insane? You hit me!” he bellowed.
My palm stung, but I flexed my fingers calmly and met his stare without flinching. “Don’t take it personally, Mr. Noah. Just a slap. I didn’t try to kill you.”
A cold smile played at my lips. “Look—you’re still breathing.”
