Sally's POV
The issue with Philip is that his expression never reveals whether he means what he says. That troublemaker grin spreads across his face, but his eyes sparkle with the kind of mischief that warns me he's about to pull me into something I'll wish I'd avoided.
"Time to test you out, sweetheart," he announces cheerfully. "Let's discover if this mate bond turned you lethal or if you're still the same delicate human."
I fold my arms and shoot him a withering look. "Delicate? Seriously?"
Sean shifts closer to me. "Ignore him," he sighs, though his amusement ripples through our connection. "He's baiting you so you'll get fired up and try to show him up."
"Mission accomplished," I grumble, fighting back a smile.
Philip's grin widens with satisfaction.
