Things had gone off from the original starting plot of the story.
Well... I'm not gonna complain since this is what I wanted right from the start, Nach thought, trying to focus on the situation he hadn't carefully thought through.
He—or rather Kyoko's actions—had managed to save more students compared to the original plot of the story. But the more people they had in their group, the harder it would be to keep everyone safe and alive.
Nach was fine with just saving all the named side characters and going along with the flow of the story as dictated by the main cast and protagonist. But that was just how it was for an Extra like him. For those who actually lived and had lives within the world of Highschool of the Dead, there was no way dutiful teachers like Kyoko and Shizuka would abandon their students.
As in the original plot, they could use the school's microbuses to escape. Even with their number reaching almost a hundred, the four microbuses parked in the school lot could accommodate everyone—including other side characters who would appear later, like Miku and Shido's group.
The first problem, however:
"Sure taking a bus works, but where should we go...?" Shizuka asked, only to get flustered when everyone turned to look at her—thinking they were staring at her left thigh and the erotic panties exposed through her torn skirt, courtesy of Nach, as punishment for teasing Kyoko about her kiss marks.
"We need to make sure our families are okay," Takashi said, who had joined the meeting between the teachers along with the main cast and several students. His suggestion immediately stirred worry among the others, spreading anxiety like wildfire and sparking panic.
"I can't wait here and do nothing like an idiot!" one of the boys shouted, marching toward the door to remove the barricades—only to be stopped by his classmates.
"I want to see my parents... What if they're already—" a girl followed, terrified by the thought as she watched the fires and rising black smoke from the city.
"We'll go to everyone's houses and if they need it, we'll do what we can to help. After that, we should find someplace safe." Takashi added, rallying the students.
Meanwhile, Nach stared blankly at Takashi with a troubled expression.
He knew this conversation originally took place in the story, and he understood that the students cared for their families. But Takashi's plan would only work if the group were as small as in the original plot.
"Are you saying we go house to house and pick up everyone's families when there are barely enough buses to fit all of us?" Kyoko said sharply, glaring at Takashi.
"Kyoko's right—ouch," Nach added, placing a hand on her shoulder only to be elbowed in the side.
"Are you suggesting we abandon everyone's families just to keep ourselves safe?" Takashi shot back, glaring daggers at Nach.
Why me...? Do you have a personal beef with me, MC?
Despite his irritation—masked with an awkward smile—Nach thought it was better that Takashi argued with him instead of Kyoko, since he might've actually punched the guy if he did.
"I'm not saying we should abandon them," Kyoko replied, "but I'm sure your families would want you all to evacuate to safety first rather than risk your lives going back home."
"Thank you for defending me, Kyoko."
"I'm not defending you, though."
"And where would that safe place be!?" Takashi shouted in frustration, interrupting Nach's flirting with Kyoko.
Oi, oi—What are you getting mad for when you were suggesting basically the same thing earlier?
"There should already be a place like that," Saya suddenly said.
Her remark halted Nach's outburst and—fortunately—saved Takashi from getting punched.
"I think the police and the Self-Defense Force are mobilized, so they'll probably take everyone to a shelter."
What she said at least calmed the restless students, giving them a bit of relief and shutting down Takashi's antics.
"Good job calming everyone, Saya," Nach said, patting her on the head—only for her to smack his hand away and glare at him, followed by harsh words and a threat.
"Touch me again and I'll have my mama and papa sue you for sexual harassment, Pervert-sensei."
On that note—
"Rather than looking for a shelter, I think we should all head to your house."
—"Huh?"—
In the original story, the main cast eventually ended up at Saya's household. Her parents not only had high political influence but also a large mansion capable of sheltering many survivors—and the manpower to defend it.
Nach's suggestion confused those who didn't know about Saya's family. But the problem was—
"You're a new teacher, right? And a foreigner too. So how do you know about my family, Pervert-sensei?"
Saya's question made everyone familiar with her family suspicious of him. But Nach was ready for that.
"Since I'm a teacher, of course I'd want to know something about remarkable students like you, Saya," he said, making sure to flatter her—since her character was written as a genius who craved recognition.
Nach was prepared to share what he knew about the other side characters and main cast to support his claim, but Saya's flustered reaction to the compliment drew everyone's attention.
And as to get back at her questioning, Nach decided to tease her further—making Saya even more embarrassed.
"And by the way," he added with a grin, "if your contact lenses are bothering you, why not wear your glasses instead? I'm not saying you're cuter with—"
"Pervert!" Saya shouted, running away completely flustered.
"After this incident, Fujimi Academy is suing you for sexual harassment, Nach."
"Ehh...? I was just teasing her, though, Kyoko."
