Chapter 12 - [12] Long awaited mission

As the effect of Zen's ultimate move receded slowly, the devastation it caused came to view.

A huge wasteland appeared in the middle of the central district, covering almost 200 meters.

In the middle of everything, Zen Shigaraki watched the [Forcefield] covering him break into tiny particles.

'Even after I controlled [Black lightning] to stray clear from my location, my [Forcefield] still couldn't stand the residuals. Oh?' Zen Shigaraki turned forward, where the dust cleared up naturally.

A body crouched down with burnt skin, that made people wonder how he was still alive.

"Still in one piece after that, even if my attack wasn't solely focused on you. Djinns have a really strong physique, huh?."

The charred body twitched a few times, but didn't move any further - mostly paralyzed. Even with high vitality - it couldn't recover from the attack it just experienced.

"Well...I have had enough from you, now." Zen moved near to the djinn's body.

[Spearlike bones]!

Dozens of bone spears skewered into the charred body, aiming for the vitals.

The crouching body lay flat once the bone spear destroyed its brain.

"Sigh..." Zen looked at the flat land, where the djinn's main building was located. He went too far and destroyed anything that might have been useful again.

Turning away, Zen headed towards the outer district, where he had ordered all three of his subordinates to gather.

'I should start preparing to head towards the underground arena - where strength reigns supreme. That place will be my main base in the future.'

Just thinking about the underground arena made Zen smile every time. He had to pay 5 million won just to register in [Violet banquet]. It was possible to enter whenever he wanted now.

This underground arena was located in an artificial dungeon and had many dark forces acting upon it at once. Even the [Pandemonium] - an organisation fully made up of djinns were connected to it.

Pandemonium - they were a lawless region, controlling almost a whole city by themselves in Russia.

They boasted themselves as the ruler of the underworld - which they were currently. This whole organisation was spread across the whole world and the hero association could do nothing to them.

At that moment, Zen felt his mobile vibrate in his pocket. His mood rose instantly looking at his mobile's screen.

[Jeronimo Mercenary Group: your first mission has been selected - read the following file to find out.]

"What a perfect timing." Zen muttered calmly

'To control the [Pandemonium] I will need the Chameleon troupe, whose wishes also align with me. Only after I control both this organization can I call myself the real ruler of the underworld.'

Zen needed both of these organizations mostly intact. Destroying them and building a new organisation from scratch was too time consuming.

Zen Shigaraki wanted to control the world - but more than that, he wanted to create a world where evil could thrive. He wouldn't be able to do so alone, he needed evil groups to exist and continue existing in the future.

"Lord All for one...."

Zen's focus came back listening to Keilene's voice.

"What?" He walked into the house Keilene stood before leisurely. He felt in a good mood seeing the reverence in her eyes, it felt like he was raising a good puppy.

"I sense that this place is still under danger, we should retreat." Keilene bowed her head and spoke meekly.

"Umm, I guess the heroes association must be catching up with all this ruckus. Let's head to my villa before going to the nearest portal station. My work in Korea is mostly done for now. We are moving to America - or the underground arena there, more specifically."

After waiting for a while, one of his subordinates with brown hair and sharp features brought a car to pick them up. He got in and remembered something.

"Ah...Baek Yeon-jin was it? Gather all the money you can. I will be needing it soon." Zen spoke and turned back to his laptop again.

"Understood..." Baek Yeon-jin nodded his head rigidly. He did what he was told to do simply, having experienced how to grow stronger like this - he wouldn't hesitate.

Going through the information in the mission catalogue, Zen frowned.

'Chameleon troupe must have been watching my actions in [Violet banquet] or they wouldn't have given me a mission to destroy a djinn's gang near the underground arena.'

"How vexing....I need to get used to [Super computer base] soon."

None of his three subordinates dared to interrupt his thought process.

The proficiency with this [Gift] was hard to raise, even after Zen used it with the combination of [Overclock].

'It is useless without actually having knowledge of hacking. Even after extensively absorbing knowledge from my computer with this gift...I feel that it isn't enough...or it simply isn't made for me.' Zen felt a strange sensation in his heart.

'I see why All for One hated every quirk that needed training to be mastered. It's annoying...'

After picking up everything he needed from the villa - that he borrowed from a gang leader, Zen Shigaraki stored away his mask and looked at his three subordinates. Tens of grunts stood behind them in rasp attention.

A smile appeared on Zen's face slowly.

"You three will have to work harder from now. Don't disappoint me and you can move in with your subordinates later by yourselves."

Zen didn't have much expectations for them, but he at least wanted them to fulfil their duty as a weapon before dying. His expectations for Keilene were a little higher, but it would still stay at the level of a useful weapon.

...

Hours later,

At the sub-chameleon headquarters in America.

"Good work, Khalifa. You can continue your work for now." The Boss nodded and turned to Jain.

Jain: "Ah!~ or do you want to watch the newbie that's won Boss's interest? Come on~ he might become a comrade in the future~."

Khalifa shook his head and turned away: "I have a little something to do, sorry."

He ran away without waiting, not showing much interest.

"...So has he really entered America already?" The Boss asked Jain with a deadpan face.

"Yes~ but are you really set on inviting him even after what I reported about him? He seems crazy to me..."

Having looked into Zen Shigaraki's actions for the past few days and even before he got expelled from the school. Jain was flabbergasted - it felt like she was watching someone out of his mind.

"Zen Shigaraki doesn't have any bad past with any gangs, but he still massacred them all~. And from one of the videos I got my hand on a day ago....He seems to be enjoying himself in the process."

Jain asked tentatively: "Are you planning on disciplining him like Jin Yohan? I don't know if it will work~."

Jain kept fidgeting constantly, feeling it wasn't a good idea to have anything to do with Zen Shigaraki.

".... You said he was aiming for some red-light district, so what happened to it?" The Boss didn't mind Jain's brooding and continued asking. She was very confident in her strength.

"Ah~ There is already a report about it from [Violet banquet]~." Jain went through her tab quickly and froze.

"What is it?"

Jain turned the tab towards the Boss silently.

"The 'Demolition incident' mini version occured." Jain spoke seriously.

Looking at the photo, The Boss's eyes shone.

"...So he really does have something to do with it." The Boss felt her interest grow for Zen further.

'Will he be able to help me hunt Bell?'
