Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Walking Grass and Herb Garden

"Boss, do you sell Beautifly eggs here?"

"Boss, I'll be ten next year, please save a Pokémon for me!"

"Boss, boss, I don't have space at home, so can I board the Pokémon I catch during my journey here?"

The young children spoke in unison, asking all sorts of questions, but their eyes were filled with longing to become Trainers and a deep love for Pokémon.

Kawaki smiled and responded to each of them.

"We don't have Beautifly eggs here, but we can have Wurmple eggs. If you like that Pokémon, I can keep an eye out for you later."

"Of course, no problem. Come back when you're ten, and I promise to prepare a large batch of Pokémon eggs for you to choose from."

"Boarding? Of course, you can. I'm really looking forward to seeing what rare Pokémon you encounter on your journey!"

Fallarbor Town is a small agricultural town, and most of the children there come from ordinary rural families.

They couldn't receive starter Pokémon from a Professor like some people, nor could they send their Pokémon to Professor Oak's laboratory to live like Ash.

Therefore, in this situation, the Breeding House became their best choice.

And if there wasn't a Breeding House, they would only be able to catch Pokémon in the dangerous wild by themselves.

Kawaki looked at these simple and innocent children in front of him and couldn't help but think: Perhaps the Bug Catchers and Youngsters that players encounter in the game are them?

"Wow! That's great!"

Hearing Kawaki's words, the children cheered in unison.

They stayed in the Breeding House for a long time, not leaving until close to noon.

As soon as the children left, the Breeding House immediately became empty.

The Breeding House currently had no customers, so Kawaki simply prepared lunch for himself and a few Pokémon.

"Woof woof woof!"

The little Growlithe was actively following Kawaki, circling his legs, seemingly inviting him to play.

Kawaki picked up Growlithe and placed it aside: "Sit by yourself for a bit."

"Woof…"

Seeing that Kawaki wasn't playing with it, the little Growlithe was very aggrieved. It drooped its ears, and even a small dark cloud appeared above its head.

Kawaki: "…"

What to do when a Pokémon is too clingy?

He sighed helplessly and said to Growlithe: "I'm not not playing with you, I need to prepare food for everyone. You must be hungry too, right? I'll play with you after we eat, okay?"

"Woof!"

The dark cloud dispersed, and a small sun appeared above Growlithe's head.

After Kawaki explained it, Growlithe finally realized belatedly that it was hungry too!

So, this little dog Pokémon stopped making a fuss and squatted obediently to the side, waiting for dinner.

[Growlithe's mood increased, happiness value +10, received Growlithe's gift: Puppy Paw Print.]

[Puppy Paw Print: A paw print left by a young Growlithe, proof of Growlithe's friendliness and affection, full of commemorative significance.]

Looking at the mold with plum blossom paw prints that suddenly appeared in his pocket, Kawaki was at a loss for words.

However, one thing was certainly true: this item was indeed full of commemorative significance.

Kawaki carefully treasured the Puppy Paw Print, planning to show it to Growlithe when it grew up.

Lunch was still eaten at the small dining table.

One person and three Pokémon sat around the dining table, looking like a family.

Growlithe finished its moomoo milk and couldn't help but yawn.

After running around all morning, it was a bit sleepy.

Young Pokémon are like this; they often get sleepy, but this is also a sign that they are growing up.

Seeing this, Kawaki simply had Bewear take Growlithe back to the room for a nap.

Meanwhile, he took Oddish to the herb garden while there were no customers yet.

Kawaki took out the Psyduck watering can and began his daily watering of the vegetables and herbs.

"Oddish," Kawaki called.

"Oddish?" Oddish looked over with some confusion.

"Can you help me with something?" Kawaki looked at the fields where crops had not yet grown and said to Oddish: "If possible, can you use your Grass-type energy to help me care for the seeds in these fields?"

Oddish blinked and agreed without hesitation.

"Oddish~" Of course, I can!

Kawaki was its Trainer now; he not only prepared delicious snacks for it every day but also specially created an area for it to live!

Oddish loved this herb garden very much. Its heart was full of gratitude for Kawaki, and it was very happy to have met Kawaki.

And now, if it could help Kawaki, that would be even better!

Pokémon are just that simple; if you treat them well, they will treat you well too.

Seeing this, Kawaki breathed a sigh of relief.

"In that case, I'll leave it to you!"

"Oddish!"

He wasn't a professional Trainer and couldn't make Pokémon stronger through special training.

But a Breeder has a Breeder's training method.

Integrating special training into daily life, although on the surface it looked like Oddish was using energy to help care for the herb garden.

But in fact, while Oddish was doing this, it was also improving its proficiency in controlling Grass-type energy.

Oddish had been sleeping all morning and couldn't sleep now, so it had nothing else to do and could just help Kawaki take care of the farmland.

The small Oddish focused its attention on mobilizing the Grass-type energy within its body. It used Ingrain to bury itself in the soil, feeling the seeds buried in the soil.

Under Oddish's control, it continuously released green Grass-type energy from its body.

These energies turned into nutrients, beginning to nourish the seeds.

On the surface, the entire field didn't undergo any significant changes.

But Kawaki knew that this was because Oddish's current power was still too weak.

When it evolves into Bellossom in the future, perhaps a single thought could make the seeds sprout, bloom, and bear fruit!

Kawaki wasn't in a hurry. With this magical golden finger, that day was only a matter of time.

Just then, a crisp cry suddenly sounded overhead.

Kawaki looked up and saw that insatiable Taillow had somehow landed on his house's roof again.

Once a stranger, twice a friend.

Taillow looked down at Kawaki with open eyes, at the human who had fed it that morning.

Now it was hungry, so it had come again.

Good heavens!

Was this Taillow here to freeload again?

Information possibly related to the legendary Pokémon Latias and Latios appeared in his mind, and Kawaki didn't hesitate.

Anyway, for him, it was just a small amount of Pokémon snacks; being able to exchange it for information about legendary Pokémon was worth it!
