Jhin had been struck by a sudden whim to take a morning walk, so he ran out of the school before the sky had even brightened. The early morning air by the sea wasn't as fresh and pleasant as he had imagined; instead, it had a fishy smell. Greatly disappointed, Jhin could only return in low spirits.
"Excuse me..." Suou Amane tiptoed into Jhin's bedroom, intending to launch a morning surprise attack, only to find the room already empty. All that was on the bed were the still-unfolded covers and the pajamas Jhin had changed out of.
"I actually missed him? What a shame, but I still made an unexpected discovery!" Suou Amane spread herself out like a star and flopped onto Jhin's bed. Since it was a hot summer, his pajamas carried the faint scent of sweat.
Lifting the pajamas to her nose and taking a sniff, Suou Amane's face revealed an intoxicated expression: "Ah~ this is bad. The masculine scent and sweat on his pajamas are even more intoxicating than I imagined."
Dopamine began to flow in her brain. She draped Jhin's pajamas over her face, and her out-of-control mind started directing her to perform a very bold act. She clamped Jhin's pillow between her legs and began to whimper and moan.
Returning from his walk, Jhin saw his room door ajar and wondered who could be looking for him so early. Tiptoeing to the doorway, he discovered Suou Amane getting off on his bed and was instantly speechless.
Jhin stood by the door and watched for a while as Suou Amane's actions grew bolder, alluring moans uncontrollably and intermittently escaping her lips.
He had to stop her before she got his pillow wet. Reaching out, he knocked on the door: "Hey, Amane, I don't have a spare pillow. If you get it wet, how am I supposed to sleep tonight?"
"Waah!" Suou Amane was so startled by Jhin's voice that she shot up from the bed, panting as she looked at him standing in the doorway. "When... when did you get back??"
"If I hadn't come back, what were you planning on having me rest my head on tonight?" Jhin rolled his eyes at her. Stimulating someone like this so early in the morning... I don't even dare to think what you would've done if I had been lying in bed.
"When did you start watching?"
"From the moment you clamped the pillow."
"Why didn't you stop me then?"
"Because you looked like you were having fun. Now, hurry up and get out."
Suou Amane glanced at Jhin from the corner of her eye and, forcing a calm demeanor, said, "I was having fun, but didn't you enjoy watching, too?"
"Glad you know. Now get out!"
"I won't!" Suou Amane slammed the door shut and approached Jhin aggressively.
...
"Aaaah! It's all your fault, Amane-nee! We're going to be late!" Irisu Makina complained to an apologetic Suou Amane, jogging and panting heavily.
"Ahaha, sorry, Makina." Suou Amane hadn't expected it to take so long either.
"Why did you have to rinse your mouth again?"
"Uh... about that..." Suou Amane's face flushed red, unsure how to explain.
"She snuck into my room this morning to drink some milk, but she didn't realize it was a flavor she dislikes. She insisted on stubbornly finishing it, so she had to go rinse her mouth out again," Jhin explained to Irisu Makina with perfect composure.
"Oh, I see. I didn't know you liked milk too, Amane-nee." Irisu Makina hadn't been aware of this little hobby of Suou Amane's. "Then why did you have to wash your face, big brother?"
"Seawater splashed on my face during my morning walk. It was all sticky." Jhin didn't even blink. "Alright, let's hurry up and run, or we'll really be late."
"Okay! Let's go!"
Seeing that Irisu Makina's curiosity was satisfied, Jhin and Suou Amane both secretly breathed a sigh of relief and exchanged a glance.
"I told you to get out, but you just had to stay."
"None of your business! I wanted to!"
The two whispered to each other behind Irisu Makina's back.
...
During lunch break, as Jhin was passing the courtyard garden, he heard Michiru Matsushima's voice coming from the lawn. In every sense of the word, it sounded rather inappropriate.
"I'm telling you, don't lick there."
"And definitely not here!"
"No, ahh~"
Jhin quickly walked over to the source of the sound and retorted to Michiru Matsushima, who was lying on the ground covered in grass clippings, "If you're just playing with a cat, you shouldn't say such misleading things!"
"Whoa! What are you doing here?" Michiru Matsushima immediately sat up upon seeing Jhin, ignoring the little cat that was meowing at her incessantly.
"Just passing by. I heard your voice and came to check." Jhin crouched down to look at the cute little black cat. Unfortunately for him, he wasn't very popular with cats.
"P-Perfect timing! This little one has been following me around and seems to really like me, but we can't keep pets in the dorms, so I was thinking of taking it back where it came from." Michiru Matsushima sat back down on the ground, gently stroking the cat's head with a tender smile that she, who usually played the fool, would never show.
"I can just talk to Chizuru about it. As long as you promise to take full responsibility for it." Jhin figured it was about time to begin treatment for this particular problem girl.
"Really!?" Michiru Matsushima was overjoyed, but then, remembering her tsundere persona, she immediately adopted a coy posture. "I-It's not that I like this little thing, I just can't bring myself to abandon it, that's all."
Jhin shook his head and told her, "It's actually better if you're more honest. Otherwise, if Chizuru sees this attitude of yours, she might not allow you to keep the cat after all."
"Eh?!" Michiru Matsushima clearly hadn't considered that her attitude could determine whether she could keep a cat in the dorm. Just as she was about to open her mouth and express her true feelings, the words caught in her throat.
Am I really ready to raise this kitten? Can I really accept the day it will be separated from me?
For Michiru Matsushima, who was abnormally terrified of the word "loss," the desire to adopt the kitten was being constantly devoured by fear.
"It seems you're not ready to adopt it yet," Jhin said in a regretful tone. The kitten seemed to understand his words as well; it ran from Michiru Matsushima's side, darted into the bushes, and disappeared.
"Ah!" Only then did Michiru Matsushima realize her indecisiveness had once again caused her to "lose" something. Dejectedly, she lowered the hand she had reached out toward the kitten's retreating back.
Didn't her other personality come out to help her decide? Jhin had first seen the other personality within Michiru Matsushima when he was being pestered by Komine Sachi, who wanted to make him a shark-themed fanny pack.
Komine Sachi, fired up with passion, was insistent on making a shark fanny pack for Jhin. Just as he was racking his brain on how to refuse her, Michiru Matsushima, who usually played the fool, appeared and got him out of the bind by giving the shark fanny pack to a passing Irisu Makina.
At that time, Michiru Matsushima's eyes were green, not her usual deep blue.
Looks like I'll have to use that method after all, though I feel bad for Michiru herself. Watching her back as she pretended to be nonchalant while leaving, Jhin made his decision. The start of this operation also meant that his leisurely school life was more or less over.
