Going over to Jhin's place to freeload for meals every day, what a wonderful thing.
Gabriel had thought so right up until this moment. As she pulled open the curtains to let the new day's sunlight stream into the room, she glanced at the significantly fewer garbage bags compared to yesterday and couldn't help but sigh internally at what a diligent angel she was.
She grabbed the doorknob and pushed the door open. A familiar scene made Gabriel rub her eyes, wondering if staying up all night had caused hallucinations. She closed the door and opened it again to take another look.
"Daddy!"
A brown-haired girl with two small pigtails, wearing a red-and-black plaid dress and mismatched thigh-high stockings, jumped onto Jhin. She clung to him like a koala, securing herself with her slender limbs, her cheeks as fair and tender as freshly peeled eggs rubbing against Jhin's face.
"Hello? Police? I'd like to report..."
"Gabriel, it's not..."
"You don't have to make excuses! Yesterday you used your 'sister' to deceive me, and now what's this about a 'daughter'?! Don't tell me you're actually in your thirties."
Gabriel wore a heartbroken expression. To think that she, an angel, had only looked away for a moment and Jhin had already fallen to such depths, inviting different pretty girls home for parties every day and even making up excuses to deceive an angel like herself.
"Did big sister Kazuki come over yesterday?" Although Irisu Makina called Jhin "Daddy," she still addressed Kazami Kazuki normally as "big sister."
"Yes, weren't you looking for her? She's in the house next door. Go on."
"Oh! Goodbye, Daddy."
Leaving a kiss on Jhin's cheek with her moist little lips, Irisu Makina skipped away cheerfully.
Due to the synchronization with the main world's time, Mihama Academy had returned to summer vacation. The day they met Kazami Kazuki had become the day before summer vacation started. Originally about to face a new semester, they now had more than half a summer vacation ahead of them. How enviable.
"So, how are you going to explain this time?" Gabriel's expression was grim, her thumb hovering over the dial button. It seemed if Jhin couldn't clarify his relationship with Irisu Makina, he'd be eating pork cutlet bowls in an interrogation room very soon.
"Well, you know how I became a student at Mihama Academy..."
Jhin selectively explained parts of the story, saying he went to Mihama Academy to provide counseling for the students there, specifically using Michiru Matsushima as an example.
"She's a perfectly fine girl, but she's gotten addicted to playing a tsundere, saying 'urusai' all day. I'm telling you, it's a real tragedy."
Gabriel, using her divine art for lie detection again, still got the result that Jhin wasn't lying. She began to suspect something was wrong with the art itself.
"I'll let it slide this time. But you have to play games with me all day today."
"Thank you for your mercy, Gabriel."
"Good that you know. I'm hungry, go make some food."
"Alright, alright, I'm going. Want to come with me to a rock band's performance tomorrow?"
"No way, it's too much trouble."
"Come on, I've already bought the tickets. Vignette and the others agreed to go too."
"Can't let the money go to waste. I suppose I'll reluctantly accompany you."
"In that case, I'll give you a three-move handicap today."
"Huh? Who do you think you're looking down on?"
After freeloading breakfast, Gabriel's hands were itching for a duel. She immediately pulled Jhin, who hadn't even finished washing the dishes, to sit down and handed him the other controller.
"I'll show you the consequences of your arrogant words."
"Sure." Jhin chose a muscular, bare-chested man.
After letting Gabriel get in three free hits, Jhin reminded her, "My turn now."
"Bring it on!"
Gabriel couldn't believe it. She had gotten his character down to critical health with three combos. Could Jhin possibly one-shot her?
On the TV screen, Jhin's character grabbed Gabriel's character and slammed her twice, instantly dropping her health bar to half. Gabriel decisively chose to burst her aura, dashing forward to win the round. The next second, the muscular man pointed both fingers to the sky.
"ZANGIEF WIN!
😤
🤜🤛"
Gabriel stared dumbfounded at the results screen, her delicate little face flushing bright red. She started spouting things about "broken stats" and "invincibility frames," which made Jhin roar with laughter.
"Good thing you didn't say you'd eat the screen if I one-shotted you, or you'd be in real trouble now."
Meanwhile, Irisu Makina sat obediently on the sofa in the large mansion next door. On the coffee table in front of her was a cup of freshly brewed, steaming black tea from Kazami Kazuki, along with her favorite snacks.
"So, Makina, what have you and my little brother been up to all this time?"
Kazami Kazuki elegantly lifted her teacup and took a small sip. Although she had practiced brewing tea in a hurry, it was at least presentable. As his older sister, she couldn't lose face to her brother in this regard.
"We... we just played, and exercised..." Irisu Makina didn't know why, but facing Kazami Kazuki felt like a mouse meeting a cat, so she hadn't even touched the tea and snacks in front of her.
"Played? You mean that 'father-daughter game'?"
Under the gaze of Kazami Kazuki's deep crimson eyes, Irisu Makina felt as if her every secret was laid bare. She nodded timidly.
Kazami Kazuki withdrew her scrutinizing gaze. She didn't intend to criticize her brother's way of interacting with Irisu Makina; everyone has their own way of getting along with people. "Alright, I'm not going to meddle in your little games. I just want to ask you a few things."
Irisu Makina felt as if she had been granted amnesty. Her previously straight posture went limp as she leaned back against the sofa in relief.
"Did you two really... do it?" Kazami Kazuki made a circle with her left hand and poked a finger from her right hand through it, a gesture that anyone in the know would understand.
"Mmm..."
"Hiss~ How is that possible, with your body type..." Kazami Kazuki immediately started muttering, comparing her own body to Irisu Makina's. It wouldn't fit, would it? No matter how you think about it, it wouldn't fit, right?
Seeing her like this, Irisu Makina's eyes suddenly lit up, as if she had found Kazami Kazuki's weak point. She recalled Jhin once telling her that once you find the enemy's weakness, you must attack without hesitation and give them no room to breathe.
A wicked grin spread across Irisu Makina's face. She got up from the sofa, trotted over to Kazami Kazuki's side, and brought her cherry-like lips close to her ear, whispering continuously.
"Actually... legs... clothes..."
Kazami Kazuki's eyes went wide as she received the stream of information from the experienced (?), battlefield veteran, Irisu Makina.
"Ahem... I think I understand the gist of it." Kazami Kazuki recomposed the expression on her slightly flushed cheeks and cleared her throat. "Do you have anything to do this afternoon?"
"Nope, but I want to go play with Daddy!"
"In that case, I happen to have a few outfits. Come and try them on."
"Eh? Aren't you going to wear them, big sister Kazuki?"
Irisu Makina fluttered her watery eyes, not understanding why she was being asked to try on clothes. She couldn't possibly fit into Kazami Kazuki's sizes.
"Don't worry, I bought some in your size too."
Kazami Kazuki had rush-ordered over a dozen outfits yesterday. Although her lack of practical experience allowed Irisu Makina to seize an opportunity and counter-attack, she wasn't the type to swallow her pride. This was the perfect chance to teach her a lesson. As his older sister, she was well aware of some of Jhin's little hobbies—not to mention, some were the result of her own deliberate guidance.
...
"Hey, Amane, have you arrived? Okay, just go straight to Kazuki's place. We'll all head out together tomorrow."
Jhin was on the phone with Suou Amane. Yesterday, he had invited all the students from Mihama Academy to the band's performance, and she was the most enthusiastic, saying things like summer vacation felt so long and she was bored to death at home.
You have half a summer vacation more than a normal person, of course it feels long...
Suou Amane was planning to meet up with the other girls from Mihama Academy and then go to Jhin's big house to stay the night. After the performance, they'd go straight to the school dorms, since they all felt this summer vacation was a bit too long.
"Who's Amane now?" Gabriel narrowed her eyes. It was another unfamiliar female voice on Jhin's phone. Does this guy only have female friends?
"Oh, she's a student from Mihama Academy. She'll be coming with us to watch Bocchi-chan's band's debut performance tomorrow too."
"Is that so..."
"What's wrong? Something on your mind?"
"Nothing. I just suddenly don't feel like going anymore."
"Don't be like that. You should go out once in a while. Be careful or you'll grow mushrooms on your head."
"No, it looks like there's a typhoon tomorrow." Gabriel pointed at the weather forecast on her phone.
"Huh?" Jhin just then remembered that in the original story, they really did run into a typhoon on the day of the performance.
"Huh?"
Hitori Gotoh's mouth fell open in surprise. A typhoon on the day of their debut performance? She even hoped this was just one of Kita Ikuyo's jokes.
The members of Kessoku Band made a few teru teru bōzu, hoping the typhoon would change its course. Unfortunately, it seemed their wish had fallen on deaf ears.
