Chapter 18 - Gathering for the Trials

Creek

The door opened, revealing the freckled-face girl, returning with the same ring in her hand. She walked over to Wolfthorn and handed him the ring.

Wolfthorn, peering with his Mana sense, examined the contents inside the ring. With a satisfied nod, he handed the ring back to Rahu.

Rahu didn't need to check; his dimensional sensitivity had already swept through the contents.

"A pleasure doing business, Mr Rahu, I hope our cooperation continues." Wolfthorn, getting up, extended his hand.

"Indeed, the corporation will continue," Rahu replied with a smirk. Wolfthorn felt as if he had sensed something else beneath those words, but shrugged it off.

"Wakey wakey, Karma, let's go." Rahu smacked the feline, who had dozed off on the sofa, jolting her awake.

"Karma? What a weird name," both Wolfthorn and Freckled-face girl thought in unison.

"So, Master, how much did we get?" Karma asked excitedly; she couldn't wait to try the city's delicacies.

"What? Brat, I am not running a charity here. Go earn some money, I don't care if you steal it or snatch it," Rahu replied with a shit-eating grin on his face. Saying that, he walked towards the Inn they had booked before.

Karma, who was excited moments ago, suddenly wilted. As if someone had stolen her toy only to return it in a single piece.

"I'll be in seclusion for 4 days. Until then, you're on your own, and oh, don't say I am a cruel master, here," saying that he tossed a few low-grade Mana crystals towards Karma, with the same small smile.

"C-cruel! Evil! Wicked! Hmph! Fine, just wait, you haven't seen Karma's Divine stealing skills yet, Stinky master!" Cursing inwardly, she stomped her cute paw and jumped on the roof.

Four days later…

The Inn was one of the high-mid luxury inns, with the top rooms even giving a courtyard to the cultivators, though the cost wasn't cheap, it was 1 mid-grade Mana crystal per night.

Walking out of the bathroom, Rahu stretched his hands in a relaxed manner. After absorbing over 100 mid-grade Mana crystals, his heart still didn't recover from the outrageous expenditure, but the gains were equally astonishing; he had broken through 2 mini realms in the span of 4 days.

Yes, he was now a 7th-stage Body Structuring realm cultivator, boosting an astonishing raw force of 17,000 kgf! Almost equal to an average 1st-stage Vital Core Realm cultivator, making his physical prowess monstrous among his peers.

He had done something unprecedented. Even with strong physiques, bloodlines, or unique abilities, people can increase their attack power by several levels, but they can never increase the raw power by a large margin.

An average 7th-stage Body Structuring realm cultivator has 4000-4200 kgf. Where some genius can, utmost have about 5000 kgf.

"This Dimensional Energy sure is mysterious, although the energy conversion is astronomical, the benefits it gave equaled it out," Rahu mused. If he were to take on Bao at present, in his beast-transformation, he was sure he would beat him single-handedly.

"Hmm, I didn't get any quest till now after that Divine Sword Arts one, well, we'll see if I get one in the sect, and with my [Sword Aura], it should be enough for me to pass the examination easily."

This time, he wore dark, layered clothes. An inner layer of black robes, fit and elegant. Over it, a light-grey outer robe with flowing sleeves. The garment was expensive and had intricate embroidery, resembling vine patterns.

His face was pale, delicate but sharp, with a calm expression that added to his charms. His long black hair was cascading down his shoulder, with a few strands falling over his face. But the most eye-catching and attractive feature about his face was his eyes.

Those otherworldly, charming violet eyes, which could suck one's soul, were shining—literally.

Karma, who had just walked in, froze. She couldn't believe such a handsome person existed. Her jaw comically dropped to the floor.

He was many things: cruel, corrupt, dishonorable, villainous, degenerate, immoral, vile, but the one he wasn't was—ugly.

"What? Shocked?" Rahu chuckled and walked past her. He could have hidden his face, but why should he? Unwanted attention? Why should he fear?, he was strong himself, he had a Spirit Realm pet, a girlfriend with a terrifying background, and lastly—arrogance.

It was morning, the trials would start at any moment, and he also had to meet with Vivianne. So, he set off while Karma followed behind, still gawking at his back…and occasionally blushing.

They soon arrived at the outer region of the sect, where a crowd had gathered, ranging from young boys and girls to seasoned veterans.

It was a wide mountain peak, many had struggled to climb.

Rahu's arrival instantly attracted the people; young girls had stars shining in their eyes, while the men were left dumbstruck; even jealousy felt meaningless in front of this immortal-like figure.

Of course, not all men reacted like that—some snorted, some frowned, and some were straight up glaring at him.

Rahu paid them no heed, looking around, his eyes wandered, searching for the figure of Vivianne, but she was nowhere to be seen, he shrugged and looked at the crowd.

He estimated there were roughly 1200-1500 people gathered. Not too many, but also not just a few.

And from what he sensed, most were at the peak of Body Structuring Realm, while a handful of them even stepped into the 5th stage of Vital Core Realm. And he didn't need to register; Vivianne had already registered him beforehand.

"Not bad, it seems this year's participants are decent." High above the mountain peak, two middle-aged men stood. Their Aura, sharp and honed through various battles. The first one was a bit short; he was wearing white robes with the Divine Sword Sigil on his back.

Seeing the crowd below, one of them spoke, folding his hands behind.

"Indeed," replied the other man. He was a bit tall and imposing.

His eyes were fixed on Rahu, who was busy teasing Karma. A strange glint passed through his eyes.

"Alright, it seems that's it, shall we start now, Elder Thorne?" the short elder asked, which gained a nod from Elder Thorne.
